Paul Lambert continued his early summer spending last week with the capture of Millwall forward Steve Morison in a three year undisclosed deal, adding further to his options up front. With James Vaughan arriving at Carrow Road in late May, the Norwich boss has wasted little time in boosting his squad and is clearly determined to acquire players as quickly as possible.

Morison caught the eye with 15 goals in last season’s Championship and Lambert showed plenty determination in securing his signature; Norwich had two bids turned down for Morison, but with the player subsequently handing in a written transfer request, the moved reached a speedy conclusion. Lambert has been a long-term admirer of the player and was clearly delighted to snap him up…

“We’ve seen him for a few years and I think he was brilliant at Millwall. I thought he was a handful when we played against him so he will come and add to what we have already got and the striking department at this minute in time is really, really strong. But I think we are going to need everybody…As I said last season and the year before that, for us to do fine in it we need everybody. He will add to it, he is only 27, 28 shortly. I have no worries about him playing in front of a crowd or anything like that because he has already done it.â€

The Statistics

Morison is another Norwich forward who has no top level experience; he’d spent five years playing in the Conference -scoring a combined 96 goals in 172 games for Bishop’s Stortford and Stevenage Borough- before Millwall captured him up for a mere £130K a couple of seasons back.

Despite the step up in class, he maintained his level of consistency, grabbing 35 goals in 83 games for Watford, with last season’s tally of 15 (allied to 8 assists) the first time he’s failed to score under 20 for five seasons. It remains to be seen whether Morison’s abilities will flourish in the Premier League but Lambert certainly isn’t concerned over the player’s lack of top-flight action, explaining…

“You want people here who want to achieve something. Players who are hungry don’t need to be 21 or 22. You can get a lad at 31 who is hungry. If I think it’s right then I’ll look at them – if you get experienced lads who want to keep doing well. I think they know the magnitude of it, they know what I expect and I have no worries about any of them. It ain’t going to get any bigger than this.”

The Prospects

Morison’s arrival gives Lambert plenty to choose from up front; the Canaries now have five forwards fighting to fill two places. This will resultantly place him low down on Fantasy radars; Grant Holt, the club’s top scorer for the past couple of seasons, will surely start the season which will leave the 6ft 4ins Morison to battle it out with Vaughan, Simeon Jackson and Chris Martin for the other remaining spot. Even Morison acknowledges the battle he has on his hands…

“First and foremost, I need to work my way into the team, which is going to be a hard task in itself because they’ve got players that have earned the right to play for the club already. I want to be a part of that and it is up to me to work as hard as I can and force my way into the team.â€

Morison should come in at 4.5, a cheap third striker option to consider, but unless Lambert settles for a definite pair up front during pre-season, picking any Norwich striker other than Holt at the outset seems nothing more than a mere lottery, particularly as Holt’s penalty kick duties will weigh matters firmly in his favour.

      Hard to say, H-Dog.

On Saturday night I was convinced that Hosek was nailed on to start for Czech Rep, Muamba for England and Capel for Spain. That trio combined for 4 minutes of action in total yesterday.

U21 football is not like the seniors, they change lineups a lot more often so, as we learned this weekend, price of players is no guarantee that they will be starting the next match.

Based on the sparsity of points scored -4 points in this game is like -16 points in FPL. You only have 4 games left and 6 transfers in the semi's. I'd wildcard if it was me.

Bjelland might play midfield tomorrow with Sørensen going into defense.

Daniel Wass might also replace Fenger in defense and then Jørgensen playing on the attacking wing.

These were the most discussed points on Danish TV and the coach dropped some hints that this could the case. Food for thought for people with these players.

Nah it's Nicolai Jørgensen :). One of Denmarks better players, I would be surprised if he didn't start. And Wass usually plays defense for his club so i think that will be the case tomorrow.

Im keeping Pecker. He was inches from open headers in the first game. Adrián out for Sturridge for me. That was like a loss for Spain and I think they are in for a shuffle.

I'd stick with a team of starters, even with goalkeepers as choosing Gutor paid off last GW for me as Vaclik didn't keep a clean sheet. Therefore I would suggest changing Petursson, Albrighton, Smarason, Parejo and Bojan as I doubt that these will start. I reckon that the most open game for goals will be Denmark vs Belarus, so I would look to get attacking players from these teams. In my provisional team I have the main strikers from both of these teams, they also happen to be penalty takers from their respective teams too.

I'm sure he could change his style to play deeper. Remember Scholes did it? We can't rely on Rooney as our only creative option. Sneijder can unlock any defense and he'd definitely improve the away form in the league. Excellent at set-pieces too.

Sound in theory, if you don't need to defend too often. Can't have a quality crosser..not crossing. But Barca have the ball pretty much all the time so a deep 'defending' runner can fearlessly run up & down the line over'n'over again. Utd don't have the ball..all the time. Far from it. It'd work well against the defensive non-counter attack teams ie. most teams who come to OT.

I do like Fabio, seems alot more composed than Rafayell..ow. Always a bit nervous when Rafa actually has to defend. Because he can't.

Yeah, Rafael always looks one rush of blood away from a red. He's got some balls, though, tried to start on Skrtel last season.

Anyone out there been watching the U21s? I see Denmark are generally 4/6 chances tomorrow to beat Belarus which surprises me a little considering their opening game results.

Was the Switzerland game just one of those nights for Denmark (I notice they had at least double the amount of shots on target than any of the other 7 teams) or is the 3/1 available for Belarus in the Draw No Bet market too good to miss?

Denmark had ten shots on target, but I would probably make them and Belarus about even.

Ok! Here goes,my first and quite possibly only attempt at predicting (Guessing) tonight's player price changes.

    Price increases:
    Defenders Midfielders Forwards
Affolter Swi Shaqiri Swi Yarmolenko Ukr
    Walker Eng Biliy Ukr
    Perepechko Bel

    Possible outsiders

Montoya Spa Herrera Spa Sturridge Eng
    G.Xhaka Swi Voronkov Bel

    Price Falls

Slightly trickier as there was no movement last night. So protection may be an issue, but what the hell.

    Goalkeeper: Lossl Den

    Defenders Midfielders Forwards
Hosek Czr A.Gunnarsson Ice Ben Khalifa Swi
    Kasami Swi Bojan Spa
    Savostyanov Bel
    Albrighton Eng

    Possible outsiders

Randrup Den Rodwell Eng Pekhart CZR
    Lund-Nielsen Den Kozak Czr

Will they go up again Flynn? I'm not sure how it works in this game. If they do I would think Herrera and Wellbeck would go up - well I've bought them in anyway. Not too sure about the Ukranian players as they're playing England next game so may not go up any more.

Well if there are any risers or fallers they look about right. There are probably quite a few people playing their wildcards, but I have a sneaky feeling they will go for the cheap Belarus and Swiss players after the initial matches.

Anyone care to RMU21T line up for next matchday:

    Andersen
    Smalling/Polyakov/Affolter
    Rodwell/Smarasson/Sigurdsson/Herrera/Shaqiri
    Peckhart/Welbeck

    Subs - Vaclic/Zanka/Yarmalenko/Hosek

Obviously will change out the lowest/non scorers from the first games for players from the second. Just dont know whether to start Zanka instead of Herrera/Rodwell/Smalling in case he gets a decent score. Bit concerned in case one of my players gets sent off and I cant sub him.

    cheers guys

"Very likely" Swiss line-up for the Iceland match tomorrow from a reliable Swiss source: Klose in for Affolter in defence, Gavranović in for Mehmedi as the lone striker. Will confirm this later tomorrow hopefully.

    Sommer

    Koch Rossini Klose Berardi

    Lustenberger

    Shaqiri Xhaka Frei Emeghara

    Gavranović

Yes. It's a Swiss journalist who is out there covering the tournament (and regularly interviewing Swiss coach Tami). He's been right so far.

The reasons for the changes: Affolter is perceived not to have been secure enough in central defence, Mehmedi needs a rest after leading the line on his own for 90 minutes against Denmark.

If you were to replace these players Mehmedi and Smárason who would you buy?

Dragun or Perepechko and who else? Saw in the line-up Dragun was playing a forward role. Also why didn't Perepechko get that assist, I even sent them an e-mail asking with no reply.
