New boy Darren Pratley stakes his claim for a mid-price starting berth in the Bolton midfield with his second goal in three games for Owen Coyle’s side. Victor Moses warms to the N’Zogbia wing role. Mario Balotelli enrages Roberto Mancini with an impudent back-heel when clean through on goal and is substituted straight away.

With just three weeks to go, we’re beginning to get some handy pointers with would-be first choice players now starting to earn more pitch time and formations perhaps resembling those on show on August 13.

    Anyone considering Lennon? He is pretty cheap but seems to pick up small injuries all the time, when he hits form though he can bring in the points

    Not seeing him in too many RMTs, but I would not want to leave him out. I can only assume people think he will leave, but it's all gone a bit quiet on that front. Most likely scenario might see him 'toughing it out' at Eastlands until a Jan move to South America. If he stays he will give 100% on the football pitch - he always does.

    In the first few GWs I would look to captain him GW1 and maybe GW4 (v WIG) with Lamps having the armband in GW2 and GW3. Problem is with Lamps, RVP and Tevez in the team the rest looks a bit thin.

        I think he will definitely start the season as Toure is still banned. If Toure comes back and takes his place I will need to transfer I guess.

      I'm with u on the tev factor but i dont know how much of his mind is in it and Swansea could well frustrate citeh first week. Plus if Aguero comes...is he guaranteed to start based on where his head is at?

        He's been whining about being homesick and wanting to leave for ages and still played well so I think his mindset will be fine.

        As for Aguero, we'll have to wait and see if he signs, how much he is and where him and Tevez play. Tevez might start the season with Dzeko or Balotelli and then Aguero comes off the bench to ease him in.

    Almost got my team sorted but looking for some advice on a few positions.

    So far:

    Given - Kenny
    Kompany - Ash Cole - Bramble - Simpson - .....
    Silva - Sinclair - Taarabt - ..... - .....
    RVP - Bent - .....

    Right now for the blanks i have M.Kelly, N'zogbia, Hoolahan & Andy Johnson.

    I'm unsure if Johnson and Kelly will play and i don't really want N'zogbia if he goes to Villa as i have Bent. Maybe i could swap Bent for Suarez/Zamora?

    I know i'm missing Chelsea attackers but i really have no idea who they're going to play hence i went for Ash Cole instead.

    Any ideas?

      I'd go with N'Zog and switch Bent to Suarez - that's what I'm considering for my team. Ba could be a good third striker, if you can afford him.

      Yaya came in 10th for all midfielders above Silva. Less rotation risk. Came 9th overall for all players in the EA rankings which is now to be used to measure bonus points. If last season is your measure it would seem he is the favourite. Silva makes you think he's value and he surely is...but comparing them to last season Yaya did outdo Silva. Good Luck!

    With Fulham options being Zamora, Dempsey, Riise, Hangeland and even Duff...are A Johnson, Baird and Murphy not options too? Murphy on penalties and Johnson likely to partner Zamora with Dembele possibly injured still? Baird could be quite attacking too...

      0 - The number of Danny Murphy goals scored in 3112 minutes of premier leauge action last season. Prolific

      Dembele is certainly an option for me though, with him being 2m cheaper than Zamora and neither being on pens anyway. Baird too, if they don't have anyone to provide competition for him.

    I have a hard desicion to make and I thought your football orientated minds might help me out here:

    a) N'Zigbia and O'Shea (or any other 5.5 defender)
    b) Barton and A. Cole

    I have no Chelsea cover, which seems to be a waste looking at their starting fixtures, but on the other hand N'Zogbia is always a good player to have.
    That leads me to my second question. If Zogbia moves to AV, would he still be on penalties and free kicks? After Nolans move wouldn't it be Bartons turn to take take the pens and free kicks?

    Good to be back on FFS. I decided to have a break over the summer as it was taking over my life on here!

    What do i need to know this pre-season then? Are we all getting Martin Petrov? Who is the new Boselli?

    Had a quick look at the rules... like the vice captain rule and I see baps have changed slightly. Any other changes I need to know about?

      If Gerrard is injoured in the beginning of the season I would go for Adam. Malouda is a rotation risk and Nani... well he could be the difference and a bargain if he performs like last year.

      For all the talk of rotation, Malouda didn't actually miss alot of football last season. He was taken off around the 70 min mark a few times, which was annoying. I suppose nobody knows what ideas AVB has in mind for the new season though. I reckon Silva to start but maybe keep money to upgrade to Malouda weeks 2 & 3 if he's in the side

    lads, i had a team with rvp on it, but when i remodeled my team without him i realized i had a much better team, but im missing the best fpl player in my opinion... is he really a must? or can he be substituted for like gervinho for example?

      Dude I am fighting with that one myself....I really think he's a must. Thats why I am finding this season so frustrating, as soon as you pick one of the big hitters you can kiss goodbye to a decent squad.

      Spread the wealth or focus it into 1-2 big hitters! Tough call

    If Suarez isn't gonna play I'll find 0.5 to put bent in, any thoughts? Just worried that I only have three potential captain choices, Malouda, RVP, Suarez. If I pick up the balls I might even captain Zamora, not sure if I'd captain Baines though, that's the problem with investing heavily in defense

      Good team. I'm personally not keen on Wigan defenders but he might be a good bench warmer. Also Chicarito might not start all the time as united have a lot of good strikers. Apart from that solid.

          Dunno. Maybe Carroll will get a lot of goals. I'd go for the trickery of Saurez myself though. He's cheaper too.

      Wouldn't double up on city defenders if I were you, Malouda might be left out occasionally, bent isn't as good as say suaraz for 10 mil.
