When it comes to midfielders, Arsene Wenger doesn’t have his troubles to seek. The Gunners boss, having seen his side’s pre-season preparation blighted by the continual speculation over the futures of skipper Cesc Fabregas and Samir Nasri, has confirmed Theo Walcott has flown home from the club’s training camp in Bonn due to an injury picked up in training.

Walcott sat out Monday’s training and boarded a flight home from Germany yesterday, ahead of this weekend’s Emirates Cup. The Arsenal boss, while not suggesting it’s a serious problem, did admit:

“Theo went home early and was due to have an MRI on Tuesday. It is an old ankle injury from the end of last season. It’s one that comes and goes.

“We need some more investigation because sometimes he’s completely free of it and sometimes it affects him. But we had to send him back because he couldn’t practice anymore.”

The news is a source of frustration for Fantasy managers- Walcott looks good for plenty starts on the right this season and coming in at 9.0 in Fantasy Premier League, may prove to be something of a bargain if one, or both, of Fabregas and Nasri follow the lead of Gael Clichy and depart for pastures new.

While new signing Gervinho could be an alternative in his possible absence, FPL have classified the former Lille man as a forward, and priced him at 9.0. Robin Van Persie is likely to be the front man of choice for the majority of Fantasy managers, however, leaving many to hope the likes of Nasri stays put, with the Frenchman surely a nailed-on starter for Wenger in the upcoming season.

Paul Is certain he won't make the same mistakes next season. Follow them on Twitter

Oops I posted this in an old thread...

Please someone tell me... Nasri played 2300 mins last season... Was this because of injury or rotation?

    Terrible memory I know!

I've got holt and zamora. Holt is actually a reasonable bandwagon imo... A striker who was top goalscorer AND top assister for his team without about 19/16 respectively can't be that bad at 5.5

Even if that was in the championship.

Compare it with other bandwagons such as sinclair and bent who don't know how to spell assist.

obviously i'd prefer suarez over holt but you need someone for about his price in your front 8 and as i mention below his home games are great.

He rotates brilliantly with ohara for a good while.

Just put wolves and norwich next to each other, look at the home games and smile.

Rooney priced based on the season before last where he played up front as the poacher

Bent priced on the assumption that goals score 7 points and assists 0

      It's very good.

      I like the team structure.

Everyone will complain your defense is bad, but it's really not, just shrewdly chosen to save money for attack.

You've made me reconsider my own team, and that's a really good thing!

But still, you could improve your defense further with Brown or Bramble over O'Shea, Orr from QPR instead of Taylor, and Ruddy instead of De Vries.

if you want a cheap defence let me suggest:

      swansea-qpr and
      sunderland-newcastle rotate perfectly

So at least that way you get home games every week.

      Also good rotations are fulham-swansea

Note swansea actually only conceded 10 at home last season, admittedly in the championship but still v tight

i was just wondering anyones views on the following players, I think they could be potentially quite good but would be interested in other peoples views.

Riise- good attacking potential and nice run of fixtures early on, possible OOP
Gibbs- asenanls only LB and ok attacking potential
Fabio- started champ league final ahead of rafael, good indication there of Rudolfs preferred RB, only 5 million,

also was wondering who people are thinking of to cover united and chelsea

Gibbs and Riise aren't good choices.

Riise is too expensive, and Gibbs has tough early fixtures.

Fabio could be really good though, but with no certainty in the United backline, best avoid for now.

    Malouda - N'Zog - Albrighton - Taarabt - Moses
    RVP - Hernandez - Rodallega

I have been tempted by Wilshere for Taarabt, especially if Walcott looks injured to some extent. Any other thoughts on imporvements? I have 0.00 in the bank unfortunately, but could sub in Suarez for Hernandez and/or VDV for Malouda if fixtures or performances dictate, which would free up some cash.

Can I just say, I love my strategy of cheap as hell midfield and heavy everywhere else.

    Given Ruddy
    Kompany Orr Simpson Cole Baines
Taarabt O'Hara Moses Sinclair Johnson (NOR)
    RVP Rooney Suarez

I've come up with loads of different sensible squads, but this is easily my favourite. I hope I have the nuts to stick with it.

I will be keeping my eye firmly on the friendlies and quotes from Vilas Boas.

That right wing slot must be up for grabs after the serious slump of form Anelka had at the end of last year, and I see no reason why Benayoun won't be in the reckoning.

Hughes is the solid option from the Fulham defence. If they get a CS he invariably gets the straight 6 points. Maybe Riise instead of Hangelaand if you want attacking coverage (0.5 cheaper)

malouda - last season was rotated - this season could be more or less so... It seems that more is quite likely.

        You're worrying too much.

I've got it sussed. Leave money in the bank.

Last year, I had 1.0 in the bank, and that was extremely useful once I realized Malouda was the early bandwagon to jump on, and I had the funds to do a straight swap of Valencia > Malouda.

Have been toying around with a very generic team (so boring not even worth posting a RMT). Then on the way home came up with a crazy idea of going midfield superlight with Fabio&Rafael to cover that ManUtd RB.
Can someone please talk me out of this??? Am slowly getting tempted by it...
    Cech (Ruddy)
    Kompany Distin Rafael/Fabio (Gibbs)
Murphy Osman Barton Moses Dyer (play 3)

Duff -- am worried he will be rotated with European matches early on
Sessegnon -- will wait to see how Bruce plays him in the opening 1/2 GWs
Taarabt -- QPR seem a mess at the moment, am worried the owner might disrupt their opening
Sincalair -- I just don't the value. Swansea are going to struggle and are fairly defensieve.

I've got Silva in there to take advantage of Citeh's early fix. Bit surprised he's not in many teams tbh.

So I guess that's the question for you: Baines or 9 mill midparker?

Given EVR's woeful early season form and the uncertainty of Baines' role re set plays, I'd rather plump for Silva.

Hmmm...the question we have to ask ourselves is, how does this translate into ff points?

                  Bear in mind one's a mid, t'ther a fwd.

So Sinclair will gain extra points for cleenies and goals scored over Holt.

So in theory, Sinclair should be earning 2 ppg more than Holt. Plus boni too.

                    Sinclair's a mid; Holt, a fwd.

Just had a look at the Scout's projections:

                    Sinclair 158 pts

                    Holt 148 pts.

Not a lot in it. Prefer to have an OOP, from a better team and certain to be on pens.

according to last season, for every goal

sinclair gets 1 points extra per goal for being a midfielder

holt scored 2 assists for every 3 goals so that is an extra 2 points per goal

if they both get the same number of penalties this season... that would mean holt gets considerably more points. Both got man of the match 9 times last season but i imagine the guy with a lot more assists would get more bonus too

It is very unlikely Holt will end up with 148 points and Sinclair could easily get less than that. One of them will probably crash and burn. Load of rubbish.

From the new boni system, the Scouts concluded that goalscorers from winning teams were more likely to earn boni.

Fair point about Holt's assists but I just don't see that happening at a higher level.

Acer: could well crash n burn as you say, but there are times when you have to make an educated guess with the limited funds you have leftover. Adam, Carroll, et al could easily have been written off too-you just don't know.
Any better budget players out there?

Home form is going to be vital imo if these teams are to survive.

SWN have the better home form and conceded less goals from last season.

I like the idea of Holt to be honest. There's no way of knowing who will score highest of those 2 , its purely down to personal preference. there are good arguments for both

No not much in it but that isn't really the whole picture.

I would rather have Zamora as my third striker than Holt to take advantage of the fixtures. This is what you need to be thinking. RVP and Suarez speak for themselves.
