Today’s Members article is the third instalment focusing on player value. We turn our attentions to the top ten midfielders in our Members Projections area and analyse just why we anticipate each of them to be so budget-friendly Fantasy prospects in the upcoming 2011/12 campaign. With three of our top four are already justifying our hopes in early pre-season by finding the net in their respective clubs’ friendlies, some of the names are already blinking brightly on our radars…
TIOTE
any toon army followers out there know if he above will start many games this season and if hes likely to score wellOpen ControlsTIOTE
Good player, but not a good FPL one. Doesn't score much and gets loads of yellows.Open ControlsFaulk, apparently we've increased our bid for Jagielka. Decent? I suppose his versatility to be able to cover for song is good.
Open ControlsSweet
Open ControlsWe were always going to go back in for him. Cahill, Samba & Mertesacker are all too slow (amongst other things) and Wenger has an obsession with defenders who start out as midfielders.
He's not particularly tall, but he's pretty adept in the air.Open ControlsYeah? I wouldn't have said Jagielka is quicker than Samba but maybe you are right. Can't say i've really noticed Jags speed anyway
Open ControlsDepends if Prescott's driving, I suppose ... 😉
Open Controls
I can't see it, Jags is old school in that he treats the fooball like a hot potato, watch him, he skips and jumps round it like it's an alien. I don't see Wenger going for him.Samba - maybe cahill maybe...not Jag..imo
Open ControlsBloody Hell. I fully agree with this! 😀
Open Controls
cheerz was considering him as a sub but i'll look elsewhere
Open Controls
Anyone know how to get FPL to save your password on chrome? Someone posted a link to it a few days ago...
Open ControlsBegovic or Robinson?
Luiz or Hangeland?
I'm not choosing Given because i would rather have James Collins than any other defender at 5.5 mil, and already have 3 Villa players.
I'm unsure about Luiz because he may be squad rotated with Alex
Also heres my team:
GK - Begovic or Robinson / De Vries (hopefully be first team)
D - Luiz or Hangeland / Kompany / Collins / Alcaraz / Wilkinson
M - N'zogbia / Taarabt / Sessegnon / Sinclair / Ferguson (4 mil)
S - Rooney / Van Persie / Bent
I chose Alcaraz mainly for Wigan's easy starting fixtures.
I know that my team is heavily dependent on my strike force, but after looking at the expensive midefielders available there is a heavy risk on most of them (maybe except VDV). Also with RVP and Roon in my team i have two players who will probably rotate being my captain depending on the fixtures.
Please comment 🙂Open ControlsThat midfield is pretty poor. Your captain choices are basically RvP and Rooney.
Open ControlsI know you realise that, but it's not a good thing!
Open ControlsI just believe the mids i have chosen will play almost every game, be in the attacking third and take some set pieces for their respective teams.
So i decided to opt for proven point scorers in my attackOpen Controls
I like it, tempted to go for 3 big strikers too, as I think the 4 MF's you've picked could get decent, but not amazing, returns.
Look at rotation for GK choice, I'd stay away from Luiz.Open ControlsCheers for the advice!
Yeh i have my doubts on luiz. The rotation sound like a good idea also!Open Controls
I think Chelsea's back four could well be:
Bosingwa Ivanovic Terry Cole, at least for the first few games until Luiz and Alex are assessed, AVB hasnt played either yet because of injury and the Copa America.
I'd go for Hangeland, seems a clumsy lanky player but Fulham are good defensively and Hangeland often gets a goal, dunno if Jol will be as defensive minded as Hughes was though.
Al Habsi keeper? Bardsley instead of Collins?
I'm unsure about Bent without the supply but yep it seems a good team, I'm a fan of spreading the budget a bit more and if it has to be a choice betweeb Begovic and Robinson I would have to say Begovic, I dont rate Robinson, though he gets assists from time to time.Open Controls
Scezcny
Gibbs-@Ashwilliams-Briggs
Duff-Sessegon-Sinclair-Ramsey-Maxi
Bent-RVP
Look above, in case you want to rate your team against the best possible lineup..Open ControlsGot more than your fill of Arsenal players there.
Open ControlsYea, I'm a bit disgusted by it. Who would you drop out of the 4?
Open Controls
Al-Habsi
Hughes Kompany Rafael
VDV Lampard N’Zogbia Y.Toure
Ba Suarez Zamora
Subs: Given,Bardsley,Simpson,Dyer
Any advice would be appreciatedOpen ControlsI'm not gone on Bardsley this season. See him in a lot of RMTs. Sunderlan just signed two Full backs from United for a healthy price and I'd be surprised if they weren't used. They came for first team football and I'd be surprised if they don't get it. Rest looks standard.
Open Controls
Ok first go at a RMT, what ya reckon?
Given
Cole Figueroa Orr
Barton Nzogbia Lampard McCarthy/Moses
Rooney RVP A.Johnson
subs: Ruddy, Simpson, Brown, SinclairOpen ControlsUnlucky, bottom of the page.
Like your team, though. Especially with RVP and Rooney - only comment would be that there's no City players, which would concern me a bit. Can't see where you'd jettison a player to help you get Lescott or Kompany, but i would concern me to be without at least one of the two with the start they have.Open ControlsI know, it is definitely a problem. Originally i actually had 3 citeh players (Kompany, Lescott and Silva) but they've all departed in the latest shake up. Lescott would probably be my first choice although it would probably mean doing Lampard > Malouda
Open ControlsI have the exact same problem as you but with Chelsea instead of City.
The only way I can get round it is by loading up on City and Chelsea defender (I've gone for Luiz, Kompany and Lescott) and then having a relatively cheap midfield.
Tricky one for sure. A marquee signing for Chelsea would be pretty helpful 🙂Open ControlsI'm sure i'll flip between the two a few more times before the big kickoff and no doubt there will be a few more exciting arrivals. But i really do need some Citeh coverage i think, whatever happens!
Open Controls
I think Bramble is a better option than Brown, as Brown is injury prone and might only last a few games into the season.
Open ControlsWell - your forwards are brillianT!!! 🙂
Open ControlsWhat ya reckon to Andy Johnson? I reckon he could be quite a shrewd pick.... and cheap as chips
Open ControlsKenny, (Moreira)
Baines, Enrique, Senderos, (Bramble, Simpson)
Malouda, Yaya Toure(c), De Jong, N’Zogbia, (Osman)
Bent, Rooney(vc), Johnson AOpen ControlsWell that's the best recommendation you can get! No Arsenal players? Not the easiest of starts i suppose but it is Arsenal!
Open ControlsGW4.
Open Controls
Are you still tarting your wares around these parts M?
Open ControlsI never stop, Gnu, I never stop ... 😉
Open Controls
PS - Senderos was Briggs, and has reverted to Briggs.
Open Controls
I just believe the mids i have chosen will play almost every game, be in the attacking third and take some set pieces for their respective teams

I asked this earlier now that a few 'others' are around I'll ask again.
http://www.fantasyfootballscout.co.uk/2011/07/28/sergio-aguero-signs-for-man-city/comment-page-3/#comment-1760108Open ControlsI got him, mainly because of the uncertainty around the other attacking players.... oh and i don't much fancy FloMo (although i said that at the start of last season!)
Open Controlsyeah it's probably hemorrhoids gnu
Open ControlsDepends on who Chelsea sign for me. If it's Pastore, I'm gonna avoid, but if it's Modric I'll be seriously tempted.
Open Controlsfor 12mill its just too rich for me, i hate my team when he is in it as its all concentrated around 3 players, without him i can spread the wealth.
with the massive increase in prices this year i just can't get him in, although in GW 2 and 3 i'll be hiding behind the sofa..Open Controls
Why is everybody mental about Cahill? Bolton with fooked up fixtures right from the start.
Open ControlsIvan Klasnic anyone?!
Open ControlsI was looking at Petrov. Then i looked at their fixtures....
Open Controls
Best South Park episode ever on veetle at the moment. The death of Eric Cartman.
Open ControlsI heart veetle
Open ControlsSame here, it's awesome. Seeings as you've posted a rmt, it would be rude for me not too hay... It's only a rough one:
Given Ruddy
Baines Kompany Simpson Bramble
Lamps Benayoun Taarabt Moses
Rooney Grahem
1 Def, 1 mid, 1 striker. 21.0m. It all depends on how much Aguero comes in at. Still undecided between Lamps and Malouda.Open Controls
The best episode is the one where Cartman dresses up as Dog the Bounty Hunter, I AM THE DAWG!
Open ControlsHa, yes, that is a great episode. Suppernanny one was hilarious aswell.
Open Controls
Anyone fancy Norwich to beat Wigan in Gw 1 @ 3/1 it's surely worth a punt considering what happened to Wigan on day 1 last year cheers lads
Open ControlsDefinitely worth a look although i reckon those odds could get bigger still
Open ControlsYa same but how can bookies give Wigan at odds on what madness they are so inconsistent
Open Controls
Oooh nice odds. Especially as it could be Wigan's first N'Zogbia-less game
Open ControlsI was thinking de same n zogbia was there playmaker & I really think Holt cud cause problems up front due to wigans poor defence odds may get bigger must wait and c but one to watch
Open Controls
i saw that aswell... although here in australia norwich are paying more like 7/2 😉
Open ControlsNot bad I heard canford cliffs was 6/1 over aswell 4 de Sussex stakes
Open Controls
Johnson ALL DAY
Open Controls😆 Enthusiasm!
Open Controlsactually ur probably right... given his history when he plays he scores well but the thing is how much will he play? for 5.5 would u go for him or holt?
Open Controls
I should add i couldn't really advise anyone against going for Zamora, i just think Johnson might start well.
Open Controls
Johnson.
Open Controlszamora, don't trust johnson to keep his place once dembélélélé is back
Open ControlsOoo - I think you might actually be off the boil, there. 🙂
Open Controlsi know he's been getting praise pre-season but i just can't see dembélé on the bench whilst johnson is in the side. can't see jol playing all 3 either and can't ever see zamora not starting
Open ControlsZamora and to a lesser extent Dembele are too good to drop.
Open ControlsI think Jol rather likes Andy Johnson and if he starts the season well i think he will keep his place. I see Zamora was subbed tonight ahead of Johnson? Was that injury related?
Open Controlsno idea. was too busy raiding fridges
Open Controls
guys...
Quick poll - RE:Aguero cost.
I'm going for 11MOpen ControlsAnyone from the UK... What are sunderland paying to beat Liverpool on opening day?
Open ControlsNot enough
Open Controlswell im aussie and down here they are paying 8/1... what a joke!
Open Controls
1. Ferdinand
Open Controls3 Gazza
Open ControlsAnyone know what's going on with Newcastle, who's any good in midfield?
Open ControlsI've planned to go with VdV for GW1, before subbing him for Malouda before GW2. I got thinkering. VdV at home against Everton. How much damage can he make? David Silva seems much more profitable. He's cheaper, has a better team around him and I don't need to sub him because of bad fixtures.
Thoughts?Open Controlsnot an RMT as such any thorts or suggestions greatly accepted, is it wise to have 3 villa in starting squad? leaves me with 2 mill in the bank for the 1st transfers in week 3
given...proven quality at this level, great value, good rotation up to wk9, would expect big ek to increase defensive strength at villa, save points
kenny...good rotating keeper with given, BOL WBA AVL BLA 1st 4 home games
jagielka...QPR AVL WIG at home in 1st 5 games, gives an eve presence without the baines price tag for their easier than most start to the season, gotta have a good start sooner or later, good way to access the arsenal def if he moves to north london
kompany...reclassiified as a defender this season, 17 (i think) clean sheets last year for citeh, nailed on starter home or away most weeks, good value and access to citeh back line
jose enrique...attacking dimension to his game, very promising early set of fixtures for new and rotates well with new for good home games, would be a good way to access the pool defense if he goes to merseyside
hughes...AVL BLA MCY QPR only citeh a difficult home fixture in 1st 4.one of the better 5.0 def options? scored well last season,an ok rotation with everton for home games 1st 6 games
bardsley...maybe the best value defence around? links very well with newcastle, another good point scorer last season at that price bracket
sessegnon...oop, price, value, form at the end of last season a good indicator considering their injuries, and carried that form thro to pre season, this seasons bosselli???
silva...one of the better options for citeh mid, liked by mancini with a good season last time out, wanted citeh attacking coverage, great 1st fixture and one of the better than average starts for the big sides
taarabt...fulcrum of the qpr side, potentially good opening fixtures and really cudnt hope for more for a promoted side as more likely to start well, on fire last year in the championship, good value
albrighten...transfers out of villa mean a likely starter with increased role, did well last year and gives the budget (better value)? accessebility to the villa attack over nzogbia, couldnt wish for a better opening set of fixtures
moses...goals to be scored in playing the 3 promoted sides 1st 3 games, nzogbia leaving means an increased role, good value at 5.0 price range
bent...great opening fixtures, on pens, scores maybe irregularly but is the central threat for villa with potentially good supply line, almost certainly one of the better starts (fixtures wise) this season
zamora...very similar to villas start, when fit and not broken think he always looks threatening, joll will use him well, likely starter, think fulham have the best start (fixtures wise) in the whole league attacking pottential wise with only man city at home in wk 5 only big club to play
torres(really???)...have to have chelsea attacking coverage for opening squad, proven quality (has to come good surly, but hope he fails misserably), potentially explosiveconsidering some of the opposition chelsea have in the opening 9 gamesOpen Controlsor is this a little much, very long appologies if a bit ott
Open ControlsI read as far as
is it wise to have 3 villa in starting squad? leaves me with 2 mill in the bank for the 1st transfers in week 3
And I would say you have the cart before the horse on this one. Fulham are pretty strong at home, so I wouldn't want three Villa players for a trip there. I'd be hesitant to have two. By contast, going from one Villa to two after week one for their good run of home games looks a little better.
/mytwocentsOpen Controls
Based on CURRENT position of chelsea, drog is the way to go... but wait til all friendlies are played out.
Im guessing ur a liverpool fan if u want torres to fail that much :p
the rest of ur team is solid but with jagielka and enrique (pending he doesnt move to liverpool) i dont know how many clean sheets u will get.
Also, with Brown and O'Shea at sunderland, Bardsley is a risk... go for O'sheaOpen Controlsyou jus dont know how much i deliberated over calling torres by his name or 'that c**t' that my mates usually get 😆
Open Controls
Top work... cheers.
Open Controlscheers gents much appreciated....cut and paste for a look tomora i reckon....and dont be too harsh on me if you see this posted again in the weeks to come 😉
Open Controls
More RMTs should be like this, it's interesting to see people's reasoning!
Open ControlsI stopped reading at ''jagielka…QPR AVL WIG at home in 1st 5 games'' .
Went to change my team, didnt realise their fixtures were that good!Open Controls

Given
Enrique Kompany Cole
Moses O'Hara Taarabt Nzogbia
Torres Rooney Bent
SUBS ruddy Sessegnon Orr Simpson
what do think?? yes i am heavy on strikers but i dont see much points from midfield and i feel striker will be the main scores this yearOpen ControlsHaving watched all their pre season games, definetely Drogba, Torres is still looking poor, personally I think he doesnt care anymore, massive paychecks here at Chelsea and hes sorted for life once his contract is up, Drogba is looking sharp and strong, has scored a few goals although technically one was an goal by their keeper but I only see AVB choosing him as our central striker.
Open Controlsat 10.5 he will be very much worth it... then the question pops into y head of malouda or drogba?
Open ControlsI have Malouda, too. But I would striker from Chelsea, because they have good start. In GW4 striker from chelsea (probably Drogba) replace with Suarez.
Open ControlsIf it has to be a choice of the two then Malouda, almost certain to be the left winger providing there are no signings plus he has looked good too, and I do think Torres will be given chances so Drogba could be subbed a lot more than Malouda, no reason you cant get them both. Cept budget and team restraints and ting.
Open ControlsI think Benayoun could have Coaches Pet written all over him no? He has been in good form but a true fantasy player at Chelsea... that remains to be seen.
Open ControlsAVB clearly likes him yes, but hes a good player and unless we buy Pastore which would be a big waste of money, he'll play the 'creative' role that people seem to think is vital, hopefully he'll stay injury free and may well be a Charlie Adam of 2011/2012, consistency is my main worry for him.
Open Controls
Malouda and Drogba are good tandem because Chelsea have really good start. They can take a lot of points. If they do not meet my expectations can be replaced later with Suarez or Adam.
Open ControlsI expect Suarez to have a good start to the season but I do forsee an injury mid-season with the lack of summer break, and yes Malouda and Drogba, I would think, will be our two highest scorers, points-wise probably goals-wise aswell if Lampard doesnt play well or often.
Open Controls
Thoughts on young Matt Briggs... Jol seems to adore him and could be worth a shout i reckon... He started in their europa league qualifying with Hughes, Hangeland, Riise and Baird all playing... Senderos and Salcido are the only 1st team defenders that didnt play and he is not a rotation risk with either. Could it be that Jol is wanting to play him in a more advanced role throughout the season?
Open ControlsSchwarzer
Baird Hughes Hangeland Riise
Duff Etuhu Murphy Dempsey
Johnson Zamora
Is the Fulham team imo so no is my guess.Open ControlsHe will be the first in for my team if Fulham get an injury... Riise is getting old so maybe he could rotate with Briggs... Just judging by his pre season form the man could be like Bale... Start out as a very attacking full back and then craft himself into a gun winger. One to watch for the future to say the least.
Open Controlsdidn't riise just do his hampstring in today during his warm-up?
Open Controls- Open Controls
Now... through preseason drogba looks to be asserting himself as the prefered spear head to chelseas attack... Would we pick him or Malouda?
Open ControlsWant to guess which players Liverpool are going to get rid of from this?
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ntrABnDb6DIOpen Controlstough one, but i'd go with A because of rooney on pens while none of the others are and both are proven bp magnets.
Open Controlsi've had b) in mind for days but now a) looks irresistible...
Open Controlsplus, i'd wait and see the news on whether suarez will start or not. i'm not making any more moves until the final days when things are more clear. no point in moving players in/out when you don't know yet how teams will end up.
