Wenger Unclear On Latest Van Persie Scare

Robin Van Persie is at the centre of another injury scare on the eve of the season after suffering an ankle knock against Benfica on Saturday.

The Dutchman was forced off the field in the first-half of the 2-1 defeat having given the Gunners the lead with a clinical finish from Kieran Gibbs’ cut-back.

Following the goal, Van Persie suffered a knock on the ankle following a clumsy challenge – the striker played on but was withdrawn at half-time with Marouane Chamakh seeing action.

The extent of Van Persie’s problem remains unclear, Wenger gave us this vague summary in his post-match comments…

“It is an ankle problem, I don’t know how bad it is.â€

We will presumably learn more on the “problem†over the next few days and Fantasy managers will be hoping for some clarity from the Arsenal camp prior to Saturday’s squad selection deadline.

Arsenal also suffered further setbacks on the day with both Gibbs and Thomas Vermaelen suffering thigh and back injuries respectively.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

    So whats peoples thinking on Gervinho? Is he going to start GW1? He seems to be favoured and Wenger wouldn't bring someone in at that price to have them sit on the bench?

      I have him in mind as one of the newbies that will get off to a flyer. Not sure if I'm prepared to risk him FPL wise, but I can see him scoring at Toon.

    Hey guys,

    This year for my league we're doing a draft by picking 15 players each (normal squad 2 gks 5 defs etc) without a 100m budget, those 15 players are yours for the whole season and cannot be used by your league mates, but those 15 dont have to be your FPL team all the time. Players who arent drafted by the 5 of us are fair game for everyone. We can trade with each other during the season. What do you think is the best way to pick in the draft?

    try to get as many good pricey players as possible, that way gaining access to as many high scoring players, preventing my rivals from transferring these good players in during the season plus giving me back up in case of injuries. a sqaud of maybe 200m+ and then just use undrafted players to make a squad of 100m on FPL

    or

    try and get the squad ill use in the FPL game?

              No, you need to get the link from your 'history' page.

              If you link it to the 'my team' page it will just go to whoever's team it is that clicked on the link. So when I click it it takes me to my team, not yours.

        standard pre season, giving everyone a runout I presume.
        As I said I didn't watch so its just here say. Does sound like he may be starting to hit his stride though.
        Having said that, that team will never get the performances rafa got out of him 😉

    Which 6m or less midfielders are people rolling with?

    I currently have O'Hara, Moses, Sessegnon, malouda and N'Zog. Not sure about O'Hara given fixtures, and same thing for Anderson (plus rotation).

        I suppose over 9 weeks they aren't bad, first 4 aren't amazing though. Saying that, perhaps there isn't a better option.

      I've got Moses and Dyer (swa), but if it looks like Dyer won't play because of Routledge - even though Dyer is far better - then I'll go with a 4.5er who is guaranteed to play, possibly Tiote or similar.

    Is FFS providing the injury/availability data feed to the FPL game?!

    If it is then it needs a little work as the FPL website is telling me John Arne Riise has a 50% chance of playing due to a hamstring injury. When I look on here it's actually Bjorn Helge Riise with the injury.

    Mark and the Scouts are probably aware.

        wont baines get more points than cole? and baines is probely the most likely to get bonus points if everton win it seems i might keep it like this for the first 4 or 5 weeks as its quite a safe team and then use my wildcard when the best value midfeilders becomes obvious

        Luiz and Alex prob won't be starters, as AVB favours fit and again and fellow Portuguese Bosingwa. he is only 28 thought he was older, looks like CB pairing will be Terry and Ivanovic. Alex may be sold
