Fernando Torres is an early doubt for Chelsea’s weekend trip to Stoke after reportedly suffering concussion whilst playing for Spain this evening.

The striker lined up for the Spanish against Italy in tonight’s friendly but lasted just 14 minutes before being forced off with a head injury.

Medical staff are expected to examine Torres before offering a further assessment. Already they are insisting that his withdrawal was purely a precaution.

However, if Torres has suffered concussion, he would seem likely to be forced to sit out of the trip to Britannia.

There are already doubts over Andre Villas-Boas’ team selection for Sunday’s game with Torres unable to take his opportunity to impress in the pre-season. Didier Drogba’s physical presence against Tony Pulis’ muscular outfit may well have been preferred regardless of the availability of the £50 million Spaniard.

Drogba was also in action tonight, scoring his 50th international goal via a penalty in Ivory Coast’s 4-3 victory against Israel in Geneva.

Torres is currently owned by over 88,000 Fantasy Premier League managers – Drogba currently claims almost double that figure.

Cech + Warnock + Ruddy + Orr cheaper than
Given + Kenny + A.Cole + 4.5 defender.

Can always downgrade baines to u upgrade one of my mids whenever uncertainty(malouda, nani, silva(scoring potential), arsenal mid) becomes less
Plus Moses/Ohara rotate perfectly, and so do sinclair and taraabt

RVP, Suarez, Drogba/Torres, Tevez/Aguero look like having more potential than any midfielder i can think of.. once things become clearer i'll be able to swap my frontline for them with ease..

      Simpson doesn't get a game in that team though - always playing 3 defenders and I think (despite being biased!) he's the best value £4.0 out there. 2 x expensive defenders, then rotating Bramble & S Taylor

  Not convinced on Holt until I see Norwich play with a Blackpool type abandon. I ended up choosing Andrew Johnson based on pre-season form and Fulham being up to speed, then found the extra 1m to slot in Rodallega.
  
  A lot of people have Rodallega so if he gets off to a flyer against Norwich at home then you're on the back foot already. Just something to consider. Wigan are erratic at best though.

  Surman struggled with injuries last year and isn't the attacking force Hoolahan is - don't read too much into pre-season form.

I'm a Man City fan.

Recognising how depressing FF (and the PL) was at times last season, I have decided 2 things for this:

1) I will pick players from teams I hope fail, to offset any disappointment when the inevitable happens... they succeed

2) I will not pick players from City. It is too depressing when we lose and I have 3 City players scoring 6 points between them in my team (I don’t necessarily think this will hinder me too much considering the rotation risk City player face this year)

My GW1 team is:

  Sorry. Seriously, I like the set up of this team because it's very similar to mine in terms of GK's and DEF's. Perhaps your DEF is a bit light (it's lighter than mine).In terms of Mids, I don't have Nani (I prefer Malouda) and Downing (I prefer N'Zog) but I think Walters is a good shout because he scores.
  Your fwds are ok, I don't have Rooney (poor fixtures) and Carroll (unproven at Liverpool).
  On balance it's a good team tho.

    I will prob look to downgrade Rooney to Chelsea in Gw2.
    
    Malouda has been in my team more often than not, however I based on my (wanting utd to lose) logic... I think ill take Nani GW1. If I could shave .5 off my team (Al-Habsi > Ruddy), I could look to do Nani > Malouda GW2.
    I really struggle with bringing Ruddy in tho as I’ll never play him. Also I don’t want to play Given Vs Zamora Gw1.

      Rooney is going to be fixture proof, I doubt you'll need to downgrade him.
      
      With Nani, Young and Valencia as potential assisters then he'll have (and create) chances in any game.

        I've gone Hughes to Senderos. It's a little risky but my other 4 defenders play so I can wait to see how Sunderland line up with Bramble, Brown, Ferdinand and Turner all priced 4.5m and vying for 2 CB places.

    mowgli, the price drop thing is being ignored by alot of people. For example if Sinclair does nothing in his first game(probable) then watch the 1000's drop him and price plummet. Fixtures key at the start
