Torres Doubt For Stoke Clash

Fernando Torres is an early doubt for Chelsea’s weekend trip to Stoke after reportedly suffering concussion whilst playing for Spain this evening.

The striker lined up for the Spanish against Italy in tonight’s friendly but lasted just 14 minutes before being forced off with a head injury.

Medical staff are expected to examine Torres before offering a further assessment. Already they are insisting that his withdrawal was purely a precaution.

However, if Torres has suffered concussion, he would seem likely to be forced to sit out of the trip to Britannia.

There are already doubts over Andre Villas-Boas’ team selection for Sunday’s game with Torres unable to take his opportunity to impress in the pre-season. Didier Drogba’s physical presence against Tony Pulis’ muscular outfit may well have been preferred regardless of the availability of the £50 million Spaniard.

Drogba was also in action tonight, scoring his 50th international goal via a penalty in Ivory Coast’s 4-3 victory against Israel in Geneva.

Torres is currently owned by over 88,000 Fantasy Premier League managers – Drogba currently claims almost double that figure.

          If you can afford the extra 0.5m it's definitely worth getting Kenny. For the first nine game weeks you'll have 9 home games against weak to average opposition. Save points galore from both keepers as they are both unbelievable shot stoppers.

    Is it folly to have Everton and Spurs players on the bench for the first gameweek?

    On the face of it my first instinct is: yes, it's money wasted.

    Further thought though: there is likely to be heavy investment in the two teams after gameweek 1 and if you have the right player(s) then, as well as being ahead of most of the pack, you will also get the inevitable price increases.

    To be honest I'm only really thinking of Baines when I say this. Everton have such a good set of fixtures at the start of the season.

    Just made one of the hardest decisions of my life!

    Dropped Van Persie for Bent.

    Reasons.... I think VP will take a little while to warm up, and his fixtures at the start are not great.

      You have got to keep RVP for the Newcastle game. Historically a lot of goals in that fixture especially with Newcastle in disarray. Switch to Bent for weeks 2 and 3 and then back to RVP. However when RVP bangs in a hat-trick it might be difficult to make that sub.

        Not 100% sure on either. Not heard much about enrique being injured and I think suarez stands a good chance. I just realized that when Enrique joins Liverpool I will have to get rid of a Liverpool player the first time I make a transfer so might have to lose Adam and get Silva.

    Right then guys, I wont lie to you.....I am close to breaking point with regard to my team.

    I have a very very tough decision to make that I believe will make or break my team. Plus there is a complete Jack a55 who works with me who is winding me up, I don't care where I finish just as long as I finish above him in our league. Finishing Sub 1000 last season has put me on the radar and everyone is out to get me (I am starting to sound like Wenger lol)!

    Anyway, back to the problem....the issue with my team is that I really want a Chelsea defender as part of my team but the only one I can afford is Bosingwa.

        I know and I am a United supporter...I wouldn't touch the back 5 till the fixtures clear up, Nani is the only nailed on points scorer in midfield but who do I get rid of Malouda/Silva (who both have good fixtures) and it was a toss up between Rooney and RVP.

          ive got Rodallega (playing the 3 promoted teams) Demba Ba and Jones on the bench coming on in GW2, so i could afford Nzogbia, Moses, Silva, malouda and Nani, it is a risk, but i think u have to take a few at the beginning of the season,
