From MI6 to the CIA, never has there been such rigid protection of confidential information than that surrounding Mark’s initial Fantasy squad. So, when super-secret agent himself joined me in the studio for our first podcast of the season, I was resigned to getting thrown the odd teasing titbit but little else.

However, it was to my very great surprise that he’d gone and left the proverbial back door open, there, “live” on air, he handed me a laptop giving me open access to his team on screen right in front of me. Since I was already in the house, he reluctantly decided to show me around.

An unexpected twist to our first podcast of the season and, dare I say it, a rare privilege for the listener.

    Will Jose Enrique start against Sunderland? If not should I get him in anyway as people would bring him into their team when they find out he's gone to Liverpool so should price rise.

      He most likely won't play this week and then in GW2 Liverpool play Arsenal away. No need to have him as a dead weight for 2 weeks. IMO his price will rather drop than rise in first 2 weeks.

      I would not listen to the Rodallega input, he's clearly more quality than those two. Huth seems a bit weak, maybe a Samba or an Alex if he's confirmed nailed on would be a better look. But with Wigan's juicy fixtures and Boselli not on their team, it looks safe to keep him. But a blackburn, fulham or Wigan defender would be preferable. Samba would be my choice, and then hey, with that extra 0.5 you could dump Bramble or Simpson, which I know you have...lol

      yeah...ok, next you'll tell me that you have AVB in your back pocket and he just texted you from there saying that you should ignore the fact that he's been clearly playing him deep. And that the youngin, McEachran will handle all the duties back there. Nevermind that McEachran has been doing all the work in that midfield pairing...fat frank has just been taking pictures trying not to get hurt.

        yeah man, holes all in his line-up. Aurelio is definitely starting ahead of the hobbit Flanagan. Too many UK players in the midfielld for my liking. Maxi may actually get in there wide. Jordan Henderson is a waste of space, and Downing as well.

      Horrible GKs, and the defence isn't much better! But 5 good captain choices in your front 8 is impressive.

      The sensible / boring move would be to downgrade one of Nani, Malouda, Silva, RVP or Carroll and upgrade your GK and defence. You've got a ballsy team there, though - I like it 😀

    This is a shite post, I know, but at least it's not another RMT.

    Why do people insist on such heavy investment up front when year after year it seems to be the midfielders who consistently score the most points? Many of you are much more knowledgeable than I am, but I'd rather have a great midfield. I know few agree with that, so I'm just curious why.

    Also, why does no one have Kuyt in their team? Again, every year when doing RMTs on these boards, no one ever has Kuyt and he's consistently a very good FPL scorer. Is it because Liverpool has better striker options this year?

      In the past he has got a few games up front. Think this will be less likely this year. Also he may not play quite as often with some of the acquisitions up front I guess.

      Kuyt - not a guaranteed starter anymore

      Forward investment - a lot of the top midfielders have doubts around them at the moment so wait and see might be advised. Also, while midfielders do tend to score well, often there's more value there in terms of cheaper players scoring well, whereas up front less bargain options (especially this year at first glance) seem to present themselves.

        Cheers, that's what I suspected on Kuyt.

        It does appear that forward investment is necessary this year, at least at the outset. We'll all obviously monitor value there as the season goes. I've always hated spending too much up front, but the thought of spending 10 million on a couple of midfielders who aren't guaranteed starters is slightly nauseating.

        Keep thinking that...

        Villa and Sunderland are still laughing all the way to the bank. And people wonder why English players are so expensive? When they hustled teams with Stephen Ireland, they just laughed it off. When they tricked us with Milner there was a slight chuckle. Henderson and Downing are no different. Hell after that who knows who's turn it will be...Conner Wickham? What games are people watching? Seriously...because the chemistry is awful, Adam surprisingly seems like the only one that will stick. Didn't see Sunderland and Villa fans up in arms or even having a debate on is this the right thing to do, like another player like Carroll that at least got goals. And do we really think that Kuyt isn't a guaranteed starter?? You must be out of your mind. Who's gonna take his spot really? Does anyone watch matches anymore? Just for that I may even DROP Yossi (my punt) just to get Dirk (with my 3mil surplus). "Kuyt doesn’t fit in with the new liverpool signings" Child please, you mean the signings don't fit with the current Liverpool line-up. Carroll gets gifted a lay-up against Valencia and people deem Downing and Carroll, the it-tandem...ha ha.

        The Valencia match I watched that new first team looked like hot trash. They looked like a normal team when Maxi and the others came in. Acquilani looked pissed because he had to play on an Island chain of Henderson-Carroll-Downing...nauseating for real...

        Please guys go with that...lol.

      he's so damn expensive and has weeks where he does nothing, then explodes. plus liverpool have so many attacking options now w/suarez, carroll, downing, etc. who are all same price or less.

        Of course I was kidding about bringing him in my line-up, but with the way Kenny runs a team they could be playing with a sweeper one match and four across the back the next. People will be upset, I think, to see their fav British player being used as a utility player in an alignment to beat_______. But that's how Kenny rolls. I came up a couple of time guessing right on the Kuyt push-up front bandaid. But the team should and will be built around constant offensive pressure and holding the ball featuring Suarez. I might go as far as to say Carroll will feature mostly in Carling Cup, FA and shorter back-lines that try to stuff in attacking wingers.

      Well Bramble seems to have fallen out of favour, didn't play in a very strong team for their last friendly. I'm going Brown. The other CB will probably be Ferdinand this weekend but i think he'll come under threat from the aforementioned Titus. I'm not a cats fan BTW, so this could all be bollox 😛

    If your in a really, really serious league at work and office glory is at stake would you ask anybody to rate your "Real" team, knowing the opposistion also use this site???

    Or would you keep posting fake teams all summer knowing they are watching???

      Nobody I work with is clever enough to find this site I used it 2 years ago and led 23 team league all season and won by miles, was lazy last year didnt study any form fixtures or anything and finished 8th learnt by my mistake so this year im going to smash them again hopefully because most people just pick teams that look good on paper
