From MI6 to the CIA, never has there been such rigid protection of confidential information than that surrounding Mark’s initial Fantasy squad. So, when super-secret agent himself joined me in the studio for our first podcast of the season, I was resigned to getting thrown the odd teasing titbit but little else.

However, it was to my very great surprise that he’d gone and left the proverbial back door open, there, “live” on air, he handed me a laptop giving me open access to his team on screen right in front of me. Since I was already in the house, he reluctantly decided to show me around.

An unexpected twist to our first podcast of the season and, dare I say it, a rare privilege for the listener.

Murphy - Pens, Fulham have ok fixtures
Sinclair - Pens and fk, ok home fixtures not great away
Walters - should play higher up the pitch, not great fixtures
O'Hara - poss pens/fk, not to bad fixtures

    Fair point - but my team is all about money in the bank. I've seen a LOT of expensive teams with little room for manoeuvre. A lot will hinge on Utd and Chelsea starting lineups for the first few weeks and I want to be in a position to take advantage without an 8 point hit.

The Rooney dilemma is really bugging me. His fixtures stink but I just can't shake the feeling he may just smash it, plus if he doesn't then he can always be traded directly for RVP. On the downside it means I can't afford Malouda and my defence is quite weak.

right heres where i'm at:-

given (foster)
cahil, huth, kompany, cole (gabbidon)
moses, taarbt, nani, meireles (obertan)
gervinho, rooney (long)

obviously plenty of punts in here, i'm looking at making cash on early gambles as i did last year with adam and carroll from day one and i'm not afraid to reassess very early and play the wildcard if i'm wrong. below is my reasoning for each choice.

Given will make plenty of saves (although i think aston villa will struggle this year)

Foster will also make plenty of saves (he was my keeper all last year) and i suspect WBA will do very well this year under Hodgson

Cahill i think will be bought by either arsenal or liverpool in the next few days and at 5.5 will become excellent value

Huth gets a good few goals from set pieces

Cole gets alot of assists and will play week in week out in a solid defense

Kompany will play in what should be another decent defense

Gabbidon as he will play and is cheap

Moses seems good value and looks full of promise and with nzogbia gone should get plenty of game time.

Nani did very well last year, (might need to change for valencia/young depending on playing time) but based on the charity shield i'm going with nani

i think if Obertan plays he'll be good value (but he might have to work his way into the newcastle team)

Taarbt seems to be central to everything qpr do and i think he will be this years charlie adam.

Meireles scored a good few goals at the end of last season and seems to have settled well

Gervinho is obviously unproven but seems to be linking up well with RVP and with fabregas and nasri likely to be sold and doubts over ramsey and wilshire i think he will play

Rooney in because RVP is a doubt and he's had a good preseason (although this may change closer to game time) i think RVP will be more consistant if injury free

Long could be a great buy under hodgson although he looked knackered for ireland the other night.

obviously no vdv as spurs game is off

Im so fu*king excited about this weekend...

Saturday = Last minute FF panic + watch everyone on here go into meltdown. Soccer Saturday/ England finish off India. Newcastle V Arse @ Fullback.

Sunday = Dressing gown. Cup of tea. Egg and bacon sandwich. The Observer. Sunday Supplement. Goals on Sunday. Stoke V Chelsea. WBA V Utd.

Moday = Manchester > City V Swansea.

Tuesday - Rest.

Wednneday = Work/ start planning for next weekends football.
