It’s a short, sharp Scribbles we offer this morning as the tension ramps up ahead of tomorrow’s big kick-off. Aston Villa hope to bring back on old face in Thomas Hitzlsperger, while Roy Hodgson believes in Owen Hargreaves’ fitness. Alan Pardew offers an olive branch to Joey Barton and Tony Pulis is looking for six new players as Stoke square up to Europe. Here we go, folks:

Jose Enrique is set to sign a four-year deal with Liverpool today. Kenny Dalglish’s search for a left-back looks to now be over and with one year left on his Newcastle contract, Enrique’s transfer is thought to be around the region of £6m. More importantly, as far as Fantasy managers are concerned, Enrique is priced at just 5.0 in Fantasy Premier League (FPL) and can be expected to see plenty investment on the back of this move.

Alex McLeish has been linked with a move for Thomas Hitzlsperger. The Villa boss admitted yesterday he would need to trade players before making any further acquisitions but with the German available on a free, a return to Villa Park may not be out of the question. As Big Eck went on to say:

“Thomas’ name has been mentioned against a number of other players. If it came to a choice, we’d have to think about everything if we were able to get that choice. Maybe in midfield, in terms of experience, we are a little bit lacking.”

Roy Hodgson has offered Owen Hargreaves a contract at West Brom. The ex-Man United midfielder has seemingly proved his fitness to the Baggies boss and is now mulling over a move to the Hawthorns. Hodgson’s take on the situation is:

Look, we’ve done the test, we agree with you that the knee’s OK and you can play football. And of course if you’d like to come and play for us that would be lovely. But whether or not our offer is going to be interesting to him, that’s what I don’t know.

Stoke are in the market for six new signings, according to Tony Pulis . Speaking this morning, the Potters boss admitted he was looking to strengthen the club’s options up front before the end of August. With a bid in for Peter Crouch as well as Spurs team mate Wilson Palacios, it looks like being a busy three weeks ahead on the transfer front.

Both Cesc Fabregas and Samir Nasri won’t feature tomorrow for Arsenal. The duo were left out of Arsenal’s squad for the trip to Newcastle by Arsene Wenger and their respective exits from the Emirates are edging closer by the day.

It looks like Joey Barton may still have a part to play at Newcastle, after all. Only a week or so ago, there seemed no way back for the midfielder after the twitter debacle that saw him criticise the club, but Alan Pardew is willing to offer him a chance if Barton can prove he’s willing to give his all:

Joey will determine whether he stays. I’ve told Joey that he won’t play for me and I won’t include him unless I think he’s pulling for us. If Joey turns around to me and says that’s what he’s going to do, then he will. He’s in the process of weighing up what he needs to do.

Paul Is certain he won't make the same mistakes next season. Follow them on Twitter

    Calling all Utd fans.

Fletcher and Carrick out. Does this give Cleverley a decent chance of playing?

There are no other options at 5.5. And I prefer him to N. Dyer for obvious reasons.

id say hes going to start, worth a punt at 5.5 as you should be able to have some one decent on the bench to cover for him.

Fletcher and Carrick out sounds like more of a job for the matrix...aka Ji-Sung Park, than a Cleverly. Hell it might even spell trouble for Anderson owners as he may be asked to play deep defensively.

    Hughes – Kompany – Gabbidon – (Simpson) – (Enrique)
    Nani – Malouda – Silva – Ramsey – Moses
    Bent – Carroll – (Holt)

Bent > Hernandez, Holt > Zamora, Nani > the performing cheapish option ie sessegnon, and an attempt to engineer in Luiz some how!

what do the experts rekon to this? final draft haha!

Potentially downgrade Lamps to upgrade Nzogs, as 3 villa players is a bit ambitious. Fulham are a good side at home and i rate them to win the forst game.

Fully fit = Ivanovic - Luiz - Terry - Cole

Please Rate my team, I have no idea how good it is because I've made so many changes over the last week...

    Al-Habsi (Given)

Jose Enrique - A Cole - Kompany (Gabbidon - Bardsley)

Moses - Taarabt - Silva - Nani (Sinclair)

    Holt - Bent - Carroll

I have 0.5 mill in the bank because I was thinking of replacing Cole with Riise so that in GW2 I can upgrade Carroll to Drogba or Silva to Malouda if Chelsea start the season on fire again... Please let me knowyour thoughts and a captain choice would be much appreciated 🙂

I say child please...it's too simple to stop those ypes of build-ups. Liverpool will never commit to chuckin it (thank god) so there won't be the variety chucks to keep defenses of balance. Liverpool are this years suckers for buying over-priced Brits that will do nothing (ie; Ireland, Barry, Milner). I thuroughly expect...or shall I say hope that Kenny isn't stupid enough to play Downing. It wouldn't surprise me to see his ownership drop from 12.4% to about 6% by next thursday. I know mules that run faster than Andy Carroll.

Let the SAF roulette wheel begin. Wouldn't surprise me to see Park and Anderson playing in the holding mid above the CB's. Fabio has a better chance at coming into oone of those positions. Smalling and Rafael who knows? Which is why I am not carrying any United defenders.

I would like him included if the combination is right. What would you pick: (not positions, just team coverage)

      a)Ramsey/Malouda/Rooney

      OR

      b)Bosingwa/Ramsey/Nani/RVP

I'm with a) right now since Chelsea have nicer fixtures than Arsenal and I expect Malouda to do some damage in the coming weeks.

I am not sure how useful the comments part of this site will be considering the number of posts and the rapid fire RMTs. Anyway, has there been any evaluation of Matthew Upson's move to Stoke? At 4.5, he seems a future bargain if he starts (vs other 4.5 defs in FPL) Maybe not immediately but when Stoke's game ease up. Any news on his situation?

Confirmed he won't start this weekend because of fitness. After that, it's difficult to predict. I guess that Shawcross will be nailed on because of captaincy, as will Huth because of awesomeness. Huth can and has played full back so leaving a potential CB slot. However Woodgate and Upson would be vying for that, so I think we need to wait and see what happens!
