The first major team news going into the weekend comes from the Arsenal camp with Arsene Wenger confirming that Robin Van Persie should be amongst a string of players available for Saturday’s trip to Newcastle.

The Dutchman was a slight doubt going into the weekend having suffered a knock in the first half of the friendly with Benfica. Wenger has however offered us reassurance that the striker should figure at St James’ Park…

“From the players who played in the last game, everyone should be available.”

There’s more positive news on both Thomas Vermaelen, who was nursing a back complaint and Theo Walcott who has returned to training ahead of schedule following an ankle problem. Kieran Gibbs is also thought to be available and will likely claim the left-back berth.

With Aaron Ramsey and Andrei Arshavin both also given a clean bill of health, Arsenal’s resources look plentiful enough even without both Cesc Fabregas and Samir Nasri who remain unlikely to figure. The Gunners will also be without both Jack Wilshere and Abou Diaby in midfield.

Van Persie’s availability could now cause a shuffle within our Fantasy squads. Despite a testing opening three Gameweeks, Arsenal appear to have a run of fixtures during the first-half of the season which should hand the Dutchtman opportunity to flourish. The recent squad upheaval and the continuing doubts over Van Persie’s durability will be a concern but, even so, the Dutchman is currently owned by over 140,000 Fantasy Premier League managers – a figure which could be set to rise as the day progresses.

This early team news from the Emirates has been collated in our Team News section – keep popping back there for all the updates as today unfolds.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

    Final team:
    Given, Vorm(once hes available)
    Kompany, Bosingwa, Senderos,(Orr, Simpson)
    Young, Silva, Moses, Benayoun, (Vukic)
    RVP, Holt,Rooney

1,5 in the bank for Young to Malouda and Bosingwa to Luiz in GW2. Ofcourse if Benayoun wount play that all will change. Also realize that Senderos and Bosingwa might not play.
But I think its worth it for the gunpower I have upfront and in the middle.

Only 1 question any better 4,5 mids available than Vukic with quaranteed starts?

If Chelsea and City concede you are screwed.

Ferguson will never play so you only have a team of 13.

        Weak midfield.

You are massively relying on clean sheets and putting too many eggs in one basket. Have 1 Chelsea, 1 City but spread out the odds a bit.

Waaaayyy too much money in your defence!
Get rid of Cech and Luiz for Given/Al-Habsi and a 4.0 million defender. Also, lose Richards and get a cheaper defender. Then use remaining money to get Nani/Silva/Malouda. If you cant afford one of these, lose Rodallega for DJ/Holt and then you should have enough.

Everyone seems to have Hughes in their team but at 4.5 isn't Senderos a better option, given he has been starting alongside Hangeland in the competitive matches so far.

This would also free up cash to bring in jose enrique as well, instead of a 4.5 million defender.

      Surely this is sensible?

I would stay away from Aston Villa for an attacking force I think. While Mcleish is not a bad manager he doesnt play attacking football (ask the Brum fans) so I cant seem them being high point takers this season.

Just a quick question why is everyone choosing Given as opposed to another Villa defender the same price e.g. Warnock or Young (think those 2 are going to be assured starters, Warnock at least)?

I see quite a few RMT's here are getting Given and then A.Cole/Terry as Chelsea defence (and imo Chelsea defence is very likely to get clean sheets given their run etc)so rather than Given you could pick up Cech (who will play every week) for 7.0 and get Warnock/Young as your Villa def, saving 0.5 million (7 + 5) as opposed to Given and Cole/Terry (7.5 + 5).

Unless people just seeing Given in everyone elses team and picking him, or maybe I'm wrong, but would like to hear thoughts. I understand Cole is more likely than Warnock to get assists etc and Given probably more likely to pick up save points but I dunno if this will be signficant as to lose 0.5 million especially this season when we have to be very careful with where our cash goes

      Cheers

ps am I crazy for considering Balotelli GW 1 then transfer him out, would be on penalties and a threat but similarly could get sent off after 2min

I dont know if he is worth the risk.

          Sooo unpredictable.

Dzeko might be worthwhile for week one if you want a city attacker.

Not sure about post game week one however. Surely it will be Aguero.

If City purchase Nasri, I find it hard to believe Balotelli will be used as often. Will be more of a sub imo.

I'd prefer to have a Chelsea defender who will pose more attacking threat than a Villa defender under a manager known for his defence tactics. I just feel that is a strong enough reason to do that.

It is a good point, money wise there is an advantage to have the other way round especially as funds are tight. But 0.5 is a small price to pay as I'd expect given to get some save bonus points in their too.

I am also keeping my eye on Baines as the double-game week looks appealing and having someone like A Cole in my team will hopefully make it a much more straight forward swap.

Thanks for response, yeah I can see both sides to it tbh, basically coming down to saving a bit of money VS the chance of (albeit small) some more points in the form of assists/goal/bonus from Cole for example and as ya say bonus save points.

Nice point about Baines as well, any idea when that DGW will be or cant tell at the moment?

Dont fancy Andy Carroll I think Saurez will blow him out of the water and he is cheaper.....but each to there own.

Carroll will go to Saurez GW3, No Man Utd but with Malouda and Silva I have might price mids who can be easily changed. As can RVP for Rooney.

Enrique likely to start against Sunderland and will he be the regular left back?

Good player to have at that price but not convinced by Liverpool defence at the min.

      A) Gervinho + Nani

      or

      B) RVP + O'hara (or any mid up to 6.5, got Ramsey already)
