As many of you may have noticed, the EA Sports Index has already been published on the Premier League site. This, of course, is how the Fantasy Premier League (FPL) will break down the Bonus Points in this season’s game.

Many of the names are as we anticipated, though what’s something of a surprise is Shay Given, with 5 saves in Aston Villa’s 0-0 draw at Fulham, looks as though he’s earned no Bonus Points, despite keeping the Cottagers at bay. Newcastle’s Steven Taylor, on the other hand, is the top-rated player on the Index for the goalless Newcastle-Arsenal game. Wigan’s Victor Moses, Man of the Match in many press sources with 9 successful dribbles and 3 shots, is also likely to miss out.

As expected, goal scoring is the main factor- by the looks of things, Luis Suarez, Wayne Rooney, Ivan Klasnic and Steven Fletcher are the highest-rated players on the EA Sports Index for their respective games and seem set to grab all 3 Bonus Points.

Fantasy Football Scout will, of course, be breaking down the Bonus in full for the Premier League and you can expect our article on the matter to be published later today.

Paul Is certain he won't make the same mistakes next season. Follow them on Twitter

Not a single BONER point for me. I had Moses and Given who should of got some though. My worst ever score in any week of any FPL season for me.

    Given Ruddy
    Kompany Bosingwa W.brown Simpson Gabbidon
    Malouda Nani Silva Sessgnon Moses
    Carroll Bent DJ

Any trades I shoudl make? Or hold tight? Wanna get Rooney or Suarez in there, but not sure if I should wait.
    Cheers

pts are granted for every palyer of teh winning team. and the index dsnt count degea's mistakes, so in fact picking up a ball trailing slowly from a striker or making the save of the season will grant the same pts

While it is a bit silly, it's fairly useless comparing across matches, we already know that a win gets you more points than a draw. Having said that a cs and a load of saves should really outweigh the win coefficient

u have to understand that in this index, every time degea fumbles a cross 3 times before catching it is equivalent to any average, good or great save by given.

To all the whingers: the new system is fully transparent. You know how the index is derived, you know why the points were awarded. Old system was wholly subjective: one ex-pro's opinion on the game's best three players with no information on how the decision was arrived at. I know which I prefer. And that's not cos my players have done well out of the new system. It's simple facts.

Yes, but many of us were hoping to play a game based on the sport of football, not just randomly selected stats.

If you like the new bonus system, may I also recommend such games as teh following:

It's true. I've never been one to study stats etc. I've always just watched games and you can tell who are the players with goal threat or assist potential and what not. This new bp system is a step into making this into a geeks game!

    This system means

    1) Goalkeepers can forget it bonus wise
    2) Great defensive displays are meaningless
    3) It all about accuracy of pass and shot

Under this system Lescott becomes much more valuable than Kompany , certainly more than half a million valuable.

Whats needed now are attacking defenders , and a 3 4 3 formation.

Ashley young suffered because whipping in dangerous crosses that everyone misses probably lose points as being inacurate pass/cross.
Note not many wingers/ dribblers picking up points

Lescott is more valuable because he scores goals. What does this have to do with bps?
Secondly 2 keepers are going to get bps, that is better than average compared to the old style bps.

I never really cared either way about the old bap system, but the tone of the majority of posts here in the last couple of seasons suggested people felt it was anything but fine. The fact is- most people moaned about it and wanted something like this. Be careful what you wish for and all that.

I agree. I was one of many complaing last year when assists were taken away after they were awarded etc.

My suggestion was they review the assists after wards and only award them weh nthey are 100% "sure" instead off awarding and checking later.

Looking at what's happening now I think that would have been better.

It may be pretty pointless saying it, but I was a big fan of the old bap system. People would moan and moan, but the best players in a game generally (yes, there were some odd ones) got the points.

It's too early to properly judge the new system as it's only actually been one bloody week, BUT someone hit the nail on the head on the previous post, for me. A stat only system doesn't take into account just how good someones passing, dribbling, etc is. As long as the pass doesn't go astray it scores the same as a sensational pass. An amazing tackle will score the same as a regular tackle. Etc. etc.

This is a rant so whether you care to hear it I'd suggest passing this over...I just had to put something out there.

It has been very difficult to remain positive about this season's game with so many bugs in the system. In fact, I know of people who are still not able to view their teams. If you consider the old system and how one could view match results, performers within games, the bonus points added the same night and the log standing within the mini-leagues (whilst the game is still active)...these new changes are not only poor for the game but could potentially be crippling for this season and could affect FFS too. It makes it uninteresting to have to wait until monday to know where one stands...There has been no official comment made by the guys who run the game regarding the troubles of the site. The log in issue would have put many people back and either forcing a wildcard now or a serious points knock. Now I know this is just a "game" but what's fun (and fair) about what has happened. Looking at what has been suggested regarding the bonus points is basically the final straw in what has now become a full blown disillusionment with the game. I tried to not post a rant regarding this but we all invest a lot of time playing this game and the FFScouts invest almost everything...to have this happen the way it has will turn many away and dare I say abandon the season. It makes one feel it has all been for nothing...the planning, the scouting...everything! The log in issue is one I'm eagerly awaiting feedback on...There is a lot at stake and the guys controlling the game need to understand this. Whether they laugh at people who take the game seriously or feel they are the minority; FFS is a perfect example for them to fully understand why this is really not just a "game". It's been a very sad start and that's not even taking into account scores, bonus points, injury and the like.

I bet their e-mail crashed too as the odd few mailing from this site regarding the start (which they most likely hated) of the game would have jumped considerably seeing as there are close to 2 million playing the game currently. I just hope they understand the situation and how seriously this is viewed. If they discard the importance of this game (FPL) and keep the half-assed approach then we are in for dull season and I wouldn't be surprised if it turned some heads. I know I'm a serious fan of this game as it not only is fun but has shown me how to view football in a deeper way...But even I'm doubting the validity of this season with it's changes, game rule overhaul and fun/fairness factor.

Here's to "hope for change" or at least some communication...oh...and another gameweek of unlimited transfers please...

He gave the ball away far too many times for my liking. I think that was due to playing a deeper role alonside Song with Rosicky in front of the two. I think when Whilshere is back he'll have a more advaced role.

He's not one I would bother with until Wilshere is back and their fixturs ease.

For me, the biggest problem so far is not being able to see how players actually scored by clicking on the match result. Without knowing who got assists, BPs, subbed off etc everyweek there's just no way of actually playing the game properly. I gave up after precisely 1 week with the Metro game last season for exactly that reason. The new site is a joke.

Is the general feeling that (bar the log-in issues) this is the way the site will be this year or will they change a few things? I can't imagine playing a whole year like this.

I think they're still ironing out issues to be honest. I think by the beginning of GW2 we'll be able to see everything we want, like assists and minute etc. The bonus should be up soon as well as they did say Monday morning, people are just upset because they've had a bad gameweek. No team won at home, of course you're going to have a bad gameweek, that's a fpl nightmare!

Keeping quiet but I've actually had a decent gameweek. Nothing spectacular but 4/4 Cleansheets and looks like I'll do okay from the BPs.
It's okay if they want to iron out issues but I'm not sure I can be bothered with the site this way all the time.
I want to be able to see my rivals teams as well.

Dude...I'm totally with you on this one...Not being able to track players within games that are being played or to see who did what and by how much is a serious problem for me. I'm obsessed and this is doing nothing for my addiction.

I hate to even consider going cold turkey but it's on my watchlist now...

I agree, I loved to click on the match scores and do my planning from there. What's the use that the site gives you the option to click on the score than?

Maybe it changes when the gw ends and all boners are awarded?

By then some players might risen in price though...?

So what's the checklist so far?

    1. People furious that they missed the first GW because of server issues
    2. People still can't get in

Everyone needs to embrace the change. There are two ways to react to the new bonus point system. 1) Bitch and moan about how crap it is and "he would have got 3 points under the old system" or 2)study who gets the points, why they did and adjust accordingly.

Look, i had a Sh!t week also, no goals scored, zero assists and more than likely zero bonus points. But I am not unhappy, I like the team I have, going to save a transfer to have two in my pocket for GW3. Think this season is going to reward those managers who have patience and the ability to see the bigger picture.

Would there be so many complaints if we had , had a high scoring game week?

Also we havent had the first update yet , they now have a whole working week to sort things out , so maybe its best just to relax and enjoy the matches , and hope it all sorted out

JUST sent this email to FPL towers - Mark/ Gran/ Andy - any ideas yourselves?

    Hi FPL...

Well dear me.. Looks like you have ruined my year already (on 3 fronts)

1 - The password you promised to reset never happened – Please see thread below – I sent you my details in plenty of time but no joy

2 - When I found out that it was too late to trust your word, I tried to set up a new team on Saturday morning and guess what... I couldn’t log in..

3 - What was a user friendly game for the last few years has now turned into a database of hard to find info where the new graphics slow everything up

Your revenue is pretty much based on advertising and therefore the number of hits you receive – What was a daily visit from most regular users and casual users will now end up in a weekly hit at best to tweak teams (provided people can log in) – This is your major issue.

MY major issuer is that I am effectively a week behind. Any suggestions on how you can fix this (as it is your advice I followed would be warmly welcome FPL towers.

    Regards,

HAHA - Yeah i know - I love FPL and care most about the actual prem being open - but its the last time i ever take FPL on their word...

Lack of hits this year will hurt them to be fair..

And a lot of people say folk are only moaning due to low scores - its not about what you score though its about what you beat/ loose to your rivals by

eg. - scoring 30 and your rival scoring 20 is better than scoring 150 and your rival scoring 146 innit

Perhaps you should start your email with a positive point, they may read more of it? The old Sh!t sandwich technique, two pieces of positive information around negative ones.

Not saying I don't agree with the points raised, but perhaps you can find a more attractive way to present them? Think about how many emails of disdain they would have received? Be different and you are more likely to stand out and receive a response.

Wow the level of dissent is huge. I very much doubt theres much they can change, the bonus points are here to stay for this season at least.

At the moment i just really hope they can sort out the website issues, its ridiculously clunky, scoring updates to most parts are very slow and someone even mentioned early about being able to see another players transfers! (i havent tried to verify this so may not be accurate). If these and related issues were sorted out then we might have something resembling the game we love.
