As many of you may have noticed, the EA Sports Index has already been published on the Premier League site. This, of course, is how the Fantasy Premier League (FPL) will break down the Bonus Points in this season’s game.

Many of the names are as we anticipated, though what’s something of a surprise is Shay Given, with 5 saves in Aston Villa’s 0-0 draw at Fulham, looks as though he’s earned no Bonus Points, despite keeping the Cottagers at bay. Newcastle’s Steven Taylor, on the other hand, is the top-rated player on the Index for the goalless Newcastle-Arsenal game. Wigan’s Victor Moses, Man of the Match in many press sources with 9 successful dribbles and 3 shots, is also likely to miss out.

As expected, goal scoring is the main factor- by the looks of things, Luis Suarez, Wayne Rooney, Ivan Klasnic and Steven Fletcher are the highest-rated players on the EA Sports Index for their respective games and seem set to grab all 3 Bonus Points.

Fantasy Football Scout will, of course, be breaking down the Bonus in full for the Premier League and you can expect our article on the matter to be published later today.

Paul Is certain he won't make the same mistakes next season. Follow them on Twitter

34 with captain Silva to play by the looks of things thanks to Cash and Staylor. If I'd have played Warnock over Gabbidon this would be looking like a very solid week.

What happens on double game weeks? The index seems to give out points at the end of the week and if you look at the team of the week link on the ppi page, you'll see it's dominated by man city players who had 2 matches.

Does it mean that there will only be one set of bp given for a team that plays in a dgw. Also does it mean that if a dgw team plays a team that has just one game that gw, the dgw team will hoover all the bonus points?

Doubt it. They're given like this, but for FPL purposes they'll distribute them match by match even if the individual scores aren't visible. That's a guess but seems to make the most sense.

"...Players receive points for positive influences on a winning performance (shots, tackles, clearances, saves etc). Players have points taken away from their score for negative actions such as shots off target and yellow/red cards..."

what are these points exactly? what is each positive and negative influence worth? why only positive influneces on winning performances, is a good save still not a good save just because the team lost???!!! Begovic made 7 saves in a clean sheet that kept it at a draw, Given made 5 (arguably better) saves against Fulham for another clean sheet and a draw, De Gea made a hash of the Long goal but purely because of a fortuitous own goal that had nothing to do with him he ends up 2nd top goalie, go figure?

EA have made a major f@&* up of the game, and this index seem seriously flawed, taking little account of personal performances within non-winning performances, sometimes stats do lie and a far better way is to have an expert panel and correlate ratings, human eyes can see when a player is having a postive influence on the games even if they dont make a goal-line clearance or score with an overhead bicycle kick

7 Bolton players in the top 20 players, i appreciate 4-0 away from home is on paper a great result, but should they all benefit from it so much? simply enough, there were players who had far better personal performances (which afterall is what this whole game revolves around, not team results) that deserve those top 20 places much more (moses, given, smalling to name a few...far too much emphasis on result of the game rather than individual performance it seems

I'm busy collating a list of interface miffs in no particular order, anyone want to add to the list.

    1) slow loading each page
    2) missing dream team
    3) missing highest score of the week
    4) hyperlinks from the gameweek fixtures which link nowhere
    5) missing fantasy stats menu, for league of leagues, team value league etc.
    6) gameweek points not viewable by default because the 'Latest points' menu item has been dropped
    7) extra click to view other team scores because we're forced to click on gameweek number (previously it was a drop down option)
8 ) you can view other teams transfers
    9) you can view whether other team has played wildcard (this is inadvertently a good feature)
    10) have to page down just to view your team
    11) Captains(c) and Vice Captains(v) icons bugged, doesn’t always show the vice captain icon
    11) H2H fixtures not viewable
    12) The forum messages are light grey on lighter grey, and have no pages.
    13) missing drop down option to look at prices rises/falls
    14) missing the 'end of day' updating of league tables
    15) mobile app changed for the worse, cannot view latest points anywhere

You could always view whether the wildcard had been played or not.

The maximum capacity for the server seems to be far lower than the amount that actually want to be on there.

I've just found that you can see other people's scores, but it takes about more clicks, via information which isn't as useful.

I really hope what can be sorted out can be sorted out.

I was just about to start listing these issues myself. You missed the biggest issue for me - not being able to log in and pick a team before the lock out. And then being able to post a RMT on ffscout haha.

Seriously though can Mark or another scout write an article about these issues?

A lot of things have changed this year and people generally don't like or accept change easily. But trying to be impartial and fair, it's obvious from above that we have gone 1 step forwards (graphics) and (at least) 15 steps back.

I know you have links now to FPL and i think you can write something fair without stepping on any toes and damaging your newly formed relationship.

Whether the FPL responds or not doesn't matter, i just think someone "impartial" and who knows what this game was all about needs to state the obvious and summarise what many people are saying here in the comments. It's sad to see what has happened to what used to be a fantastic fun and free game. And the article is going to have more chance of being read by someone at FPL who might be able to fix some of these issues. As there's no way they are going to read to page 34 of comments...

I think that there is too much of a PPI weighting to Goals, Assists and being on the winning team. It prevents random, standout performances from a losing player who tackled hard and completed a large amount of passes, (including setting up team mates that miss a load of sitters), to get any credit.

Players already get points for Goals and Assists; I think they should count SLIGHTLY towards PPI, but with the current system, a player that scores a winning tap-in from two yards out but was large anonymous otherwise, can often score more PPI in a match than someone that worked their socks off on the losing team...

If a player scores the winning goal AND plays brilliantly, then yes, they should get the 3 BP's also.

You're right they don't seem to be highly rewarded (look at Tchoyi), but accurate passing seems to be well rewarded.

It's definitely going to reward the more clinical, accurate players more than the energetic chancers.

Yeah, true, it seems to be all about goals. Assists and clean sheets aren't as well rewarded.

Damn, I was really looking forward to this PPI being good, but it looks like it's easy to see who will do well in any individual game by looking at who scored the goals in each match.

I really think Man Utd made a mistake in signing de Gea ahead of Stekelenberg, for over twice the money. Stekelenberg is already world class and could have another 10 years left. Whereas de Gea doesn't look the finished article. There really is no need to buy such a young keeper when they play on so long

Out of all the problems with FPL since Fri, surely the biggest long-term concern (apart from de Gea's EA index rating being higher than Given's!) is being able to see other peoples transfers as soon as they do them?
Changes the whole make up of the game as teams will get more and more similar and people wont 'gamble' on price changes etc?
Does anyone know if this is a bug, or an actual change?

Must be a bug, it's a key part of the game that your opponents can't see your transfers. If your opponent has a half-decent lead over you, he could just match your team, then match your transfers each week and he'd be impossible to catch.

One thing from this week - low scores, plenty of clean sheets. Could this season be more of a return to past years rather than last year ? Expensive defenders and 4 or 5 at the back worthwhile? Too early to tell but if next 2 weeks continue the same I will wild card and change strategy

The whole essence of the bonus point element of the game is that it rewarded individual contribution, and therefore rewarded a player like Charlie Adam who was a huge influence in a struggling side. A system which now gives a huge weighting to being in a winning side is not only less logical, but also less enjoyable and rewarding to play.

One aspect that seems to be updating quicker this year is the "i" next to players indicating injuries etc.

Give n/Give t orange in my team. I Give up.

Tempted to do RVP > Torres. Arsenal seemed to lack any real creativity and gerviniho was the best player (now banned for 3 game). Torres looked good and had chances and key passes which were not scored from. Plus Chelsea next 2 fixtures look so much better than RvP

What are we thinking about RVP? I heard he was poor on saturday. What with Malouda's poor showing as well, I'm thinking of switching RVP to Torres and captainnig him. Good idea?

+1. Though tempted to keep RVP only simply as Arsenal being at home and change Carroll for Torres (capt) instead.

Hold on to RVP. Most arsenal players had a bad game but newcastle had most of their players behind the ball most of the game. Arsenal v Liverpool will be an open game hopefully we will see plenty goals

Anyone tempted by making a few transfers this week, even including multiple hits to set them up for the coming weeks? I know it seems rash but it feels like it wont affect u as much now as it would do in later weeks or is right to just stay patient?

Agree Goose, an 8 pointer this week is no bad thing.

I know it seems stupid because its like when people say "losing a game at this stage of the season isnt as bad as towards the end" when its the same, its still 3 points but it just feels with only 1 week gone and everyone generally scoring low, a point hit this week might not be such a bad idea.

really? Surely you picked players based on more than 1 GW? You'll transfer them out, and they will score next week since you picked them on more than 1 GW. No point chasing the points, either stick with it, or if you're seriously not happy then WC. That't my opinion anyway. Only reason I will be taking any 4 point hits this year is to cover an injury, or get a player who has a double GW in.

Your right in someone ways but if it immediatly becomes clear you have duds in terms of not playing etc. why hold on for another week?

Exactly. I've been far too cautious in previous years and have held useless players on my bench as third subs with their price dropping rapidly.

If you ever have a none starter or injured player, transfer them out immediately

Every transfer has the same cost - it doesn't matter when you do it. A hit now means you save on a future transfer, so unless you're going to keep the shit player all season, get rid straight away.

            Thanks,

Very very tempted but the pro's on here would say I'm knee-jerking. Just a killer to plan and plan and then decide it's all wrong based on one GW.

Looking at how the BP's are distributed on the PPI I still reckon I've made some solid investments and not too many mistakes- just has worked out terribly this week.

Never knee jerk, I remember last season Berbatov was my captain, knee jerked after a poor game and swapped him for a player who got sent off after 15 minutes, then Berbatov scored 5 goals at Blackburn. I then killed myself.

      I "was" planning:

      Gabbidon>Baines
      Nani>Malouda
      RVP> Drogs

Before this GW to get my team in order... certainly going for the former, but less convinced on the CHE cover now (have Cashely already). Interesting times, what with uncertain teams in a challenging FPL!

Klasnic scores 42 PPI, and Davies scores 16 PPI. Does this mean that Klasnic played almost three times as well as Davies?

They both notched an assist, but Klasnic fired in a cute turn and shot. Davies played the full 90 minutes and Klasnic played 86 minutes, so Davies had an extra 4 minutes to notch up some more PPI.

Am I the only one who thinks that the BP allocation from last seasons were pretty decent when you look at them over the whole season? Ok, there were some random incidents, but over a longer interval I thought they got them pretty much spot on. At least you could guess who would get the BPs when you watched the game... now it's impossible as they award stuff like short passing accuracy etc.

Ollson of Bburn down as a defender on fpl index. Seriously, this is becoming very unfunny.

On a side note, due to over (?) reliance on teams winning and getting the bonus points, this week is very much an anomoly with 5 draws in the PL over the game week so any extrapolations need to be done when we have a better spread

Klasnic. 2 shots, 2 on target, 1 goal. He's top of the Index. Sounds like a player has to barely be involved in the match as long as he scores and doesn't waste possession. Players like Taarabt, VDV, RVP will get negative points for attempting many shots and having some off target.
