Evening all. The FPL have this afternoon issued an apology over the recent log-in debacle and look to have made changes on the back of the weekend’s problems.

The link to the full announcement is highlighted above, so I’ll leave you to check it out for yourselves if you haven’t done so already. The first point (below) means we are all allowed free transfers from now up until the Gameweek 2 deadline on Saturday morning- compensation for many of us who were unable to make those last-minute changes from Friday evening onwards..

1. Receive unlimited transfers
No points will be deducted for any transfers you make up to the Gameweek 2 deadline (11:30 BST on Saturday 20th August 2011). If you have already made transfers and had points deducted, these will be restored to your overall total by midnight on Tuesday 16th August 2011. If you have already opted to play your wildcard, this too will be restored at the same time.

From a Fantasy Football Scout perspective, then, just to assure you- we will be resetting any of our affiliated leagues- they will all now start from Gameweek 2 to ensure a level playing field for those involved.

We’ll have more on this later…

Paul Is certain he won't make the same mistakes next season. Follow them on Twitter

I tried to make transfers but FPL was still taking away points. I had to login in so i don't think that's the reason why

            Rooney - Have
            Suarez - Have Carroll
Bent - Already have three Villa players and Bent didn't impress me
Saha - As Annie Lennox said "feels like I'm a walking on broken glass"
I should try and squeeze a bit of Everton in my side though.

yes Attila been looking for you. Where was Marveaux the other day? no sight of him anywere?

also Mikel? defensive mid, bad for FPL at best of times, and now he has family issues bugging him.

Didn't know about the family issues. I chose Mikel as there are precious few options around the 5.0 mark, he looked reasonable from what I saw yesterday and with the new (and slightly baffling) bonus system he might do alright.

As for Marveaux, I dunno to be honest. He is back from a lengthy injury so maybe not fully fit yet. Obertan (same price) looks worth a punt as he was very impressive when he came on against Arsenal. Can see him getting some pitch time.

cheers. Mikel 's dad has gone missing, so it would be perfectly understandable if his game takes a nosedive, or if he doesnt play at all for that matter. But think about it, If chelsea do well then the goalscorers are more likely to get BP than Mikel, if Chelsea dont do well they wont get the BPs at all, either way theres not much in store for Mikel. if i remember correctly however he started last season with 6,6,4 and got a price rise of 0.1 (WOW!), but faded from then on, so maybe take a punt if things really are desperate.

just thought that Marveaux at 5mil was quite cheap, thought he was a starter but hey.

they need to freeze price changes otherwise every f**ker will just be transferring to those players that are gonna rise this week then transfer them out before gw2 deadline and make a profit!

    Any comment on this?

agree. it wont help the people who were left with auto select teams at all as everyone they're cahsing has a free chance to tweak their team too and it makes a month of planning absolutely pointless, oh and finally it makes those already wildcarding not look like planks

Hey Everyone. Madness about the free wildcard. Although I think it was the only possible option, still throws up questions about price rises, as people have been saying.

Out of interest, why is everyone picking Moses ahead of Watson? Granted, Moses is 0.5 cheaper, but Watson is on all set pieces by the looks of it and did well in the PPI bonus.

Don't get too excited by the prospect of price rises...

    (a) obviously you'd be daft not to play the market
    (b) obviously they might freeze the prices
    (c) but even if they don't freeze things, because of the huge transfer activity the rise threshold will increase massively...it's possible that the actual number of price rises will be pretty much the same as normal

Rooney or sticking with Nani for me, fixtures might put me off for a few gameweeks more though...

Think it's a bit knee jerky for us to sell Nani after yesterday's game, he wasn't good but still had 2 good goal scoring chances and when those go in he will get bonus too I guess.

Plus, everything was going through Young attack wise. 2 assists is better than 3 BP.

That's ridiculous and I'm furious. I had planned my team so that I sacrificed GW1 in favour of GW2, now it doesn't give me any advantage at all.
How is this wildcard supposed to help those who couldn't log on / register? It just gives another advantage to those who never experienced any problems. If they admit they screwed up, why not to start from the GW2 the whole game, so that everyone is in the same place???

After having a few mins to consider this, and get over the initial excitement of having another week to tinker with my team, realise this is a TERRIBLE idea.

Yes some, like my main rival (also good friend and so annoyed for him) couldnt log in and finish team, have been caught out.

But most people (ie, not people who use or know about FFS) couldnt enter a team, and so not only do they miss gw1 scores, but now are up against the majority who had a team (even it was just autocomplete) with points from gw1, and a free wildcard to make any necessary changes. This is even more unfair on them.

    Bad move FPL.

P.S - going to love changing my team however this week!

I think he'll be great. Norwich will be decent at Carrow Road and they play a nice open brand of football, meaning he'll bag a few this year.

For £5.5m, there's not a better option IMO.

I had left 2m in the bank to do this too, but then I couldn't access the site on Friday/Saturday, so I am in favour of this unlimited transfers move, can understand why people are pissed, but, I think where many people didn't have the team they wanted at the start of the season because of login errors, it is fair to start afresh.
