As we all likely know by now, Fantasy Premier League (FPL) have granted unlimited transfers to reassess and fix our Fantasy outfits ahead of Gameweek two.

Given such freedom to pick and choose new teams as we please, Fantasy managers should be ready and willing to select a captain who will come out of the traps kicking and screaming.

David Silva topped affairs last week and fortunately did voters proud – the problem was that the Man City playmaker was one of only a small handful of players to score points in this low-scoring Gameweek. Here’s a few we think might top affairs come Saturday morning deadline…

Fernando Torres

There was something a little different about Fernando Torres’ display last Sunday. Despite failing to score in the nil-nil draw with Stoke, there was a Joie de vivre about El Nino’s game- he looked hungry and livelier than ever before in a Chelsea shirt and hinted at a return to the form of old.

A home tie against West Brom -a game in which Chelsea scored six goals last season- offer the perfect platform for Torres to spread his wings and fly. Fingers crossed it doesn’t prove a false dawn.

Similar Alternatives: Frank Lampard, Florent Malouda

Wayne Rooney

Rooney is already off the mark this season. Netting at West Brom from open play, Man United’s star forward carried forward his sparkling pre-season displays as the champions opened their account with a win.

A home game against Tottenham isn’t going to be the top fixture on paper to attract investment, but United are deadly at home- they dropped just two points at Old Tarafford all last season. Throw in his spot-kick duties in addition to his overall good form and we envisage there will be a fair few handing him the armband for the final fixture of the gameweek.

Similar Alternatives: Ashley Young, Luis Nani

Darren Bent

The Aston Villa hitman is one of those strikers you buy for a season and not just for Christmas – he’ll have lean weeks but, as the years have shown, will get you the points on a regular enough basis.

A home match with Blackburn Rovers tied into a belief that we think his chances of picking up bonus points could see an increase under the new EA Sports PPI Index, suggests Bent is looking a good proposition for Gameweek 2.

Similar Alternative: Charles N’Zogbia

Leighton Baines

Everton were the other side unable to take part in Gameweek 1. Fortunately, unlike Spurs, they won’t be facing the reigning champions- instead they play host to a QPR side still licking their wounds from a 4-0 battering at Loftus Road last weekend.

Despite a 8.0 price tag hanging round the neck of Leighton Baines, last season’s top-scoring FPL defender has shown he’s clearly capable of producing the same points returns as the majority of midfielders; 5 goals and 11 assists in 2010/11 attests to that.

His forays up and down the left-flank will prove vital for the Toffees and up against a recovering Kieron Dyer (or Bradley Orr), Baines will favour his chances. He’s also a dab hand at set-pieces.

Similar Alternatives: Louis Saha, Tim Cahill

Alternative Alternatives

Grant Holt – A kind first home fixture for a penalty-taking captain of this newly-promoted side.

Scott Sinclair – Remove the club captaincy and we’ve got a rinse and repeat case of the above.

Steven Fletcher – The Wolves striker has been all about goals when given time on the pitch. He now seems more secure and will be hosting Fulham.

The poll is now hot off the presses and awaiting your votes, as you can see we think the strikers are going to rule supreme this week – but who are we to know? The evidence of your accumulated clicking fingers will tell us in a couple days time exactly where favour lies.

Torres - 1 goal in 27 games (or something)
    Aguero - 2 goals in 1 game

    Torres can do one.

Im sure Torres would have scored more if he had Silva & co feeding him. Nobody at Chelsea has been prolific, it's because they have no creativity going forward.

    Mignolet Begovic

    Bosingwa Kompany Brown Senderos Enrique

    Taarabt Malouda Silva Downing Tiote

    Zamora Suarez Bent

I'm still 1m OVER BUDGET. Help needed.
3 liverpool - downgrade downing now that i have suarez for sessagnon? that leaves me with 3 sunderland though?! I'd like to downgrade Malouda as i think he's overpriced but need a suitable Chelsea replacement - Kalou?

Downgrade Zamora to Johnson, but I do also think you have too many Liverpool players so would also ditch Downing for Sess and use that money to upgrade Malouda to Lamps. Also get rid of Tiote, all he does is get booked.

What do people think of this defence? Forget the rest of the team for now…

    Given (Ruddy)
Kompany and then 2 of Hughes, Distin, Shawcross, Enrique
(Everton/Liverpool rotate well, as do Liverpool/Stoke with Everton/Fulham less so, but still pretty well)

My first time using a rotational policy, seems a good idea. Any one with more experience have an input

    RMT:

My midfield got weak because I went for Baines...

    Given / Vurm
    Baines / Enrique / DeLaet / Lescott / Woodgate
    Moses / Silva / Tchoyi / Cleverley / Jarvis
    Torres / Aguero / Suarez

Could loose some decent for some even cheaper players and maybe get 1 more big name but then I loose some rotation ability?

most likely scenario for ppl choosing
    Torres over Aguero..(like me)
Prices unfreeze saturday afternoon and aguero continues to climb rapidly.. heading for a sure price rise by night..
    Torres plays and does nothing..
Out of panic we swap torres to aguero
Aguero comes off the bench for 1
2 key players in your team get injured.. You gotta remove one of em but now it’ll be for a 4 point hit:(
in mean time vice captain rooney(course you captained torres) scores a brace

I’m already thinkin of going against my gut and taking out torres:(

and let's not 4get rvp.. the most consistent player in the game

Need an advice... At the moment I have:

    Vorm
    Cahill, Collins, Dunne
    Taarabt, Young, Downing, Adam
    Dzeko, Torres, Suarez
    Bench: Taylor R, Simpson, Tiote

I wanted a midfield built for assists, think it's alright.
I feel like swapping Dzeko for Torres, he looks sharp and Chelsea have the right fixtures ahead.
The only way I can do that is by dropping Young and Downing then replace them with two 8.0 players (Modric, Bale, Yaya, Arteta?)
Should I go for it or stick with what I have?

I don't want to advise you not to get him becasue he could easily do well against Bolton and Tottenham. If it was me, as i would already have Yaya, i would go for Rooney. Utd do have two tough fixtures though so i can understand the lure of Aguero.

If you wanted a Arsenal mid I would say Ramsey because of the price. Walcott is better as far as goal potential probably, but Ramsey is more central to the game considering the lack of fabs and nasri and he will save you 2.5-3.0 mil if I remember correctly

I assume the 4.5 mid is Dyer? I think its a toss-up and depends on the mid. Dyer is currently playing top and wide, so that could net your more points with him and suarez. I would do it, but I tend to have as many bad gambles as good.

you got too much city in there methinks, swansea at home is an easy game, whereas bolton away is a different story. I would suggest downgrading yaya to say 6.5-7 mid and then get some chelsea coverage like malouda in there...malouda and w brom is a game where ur prob gonna see alota goals

Anyone thinking Cleverly could be worth a punt?

No he won't. He'll shoot up in price if he starts scoring/assisting

Also, personally I think he'll be told to hang back for the next two games, what with the opposition being who they and and with the defence being the new guard and that. He's cheap, of course, and might be worth getting in at some point, but I don't htink it's his time.

    Given, Vorm
    Kompany, Bosingwa, Senderos, Brown, S.Taylor
    Sinclair, N’Zogbia, Malouda, Silva, Moses
    Torres, Suarez, Holt

What do people think? Could be a better option than Suarez for the next couple of weeks? Bos and Senderos should be starters correct?

Worried by lack of Utd cover but their fixtures aren’t great..

what are peoples thoughts on a

    Rooney | Aguero | Torres

    strikeforce??

my team is like this just now...

    Given | Vorm

Simpson | Senderos | Boswingwa | Kompany | De laet

    Taarabt | Moses | Silva | Young | Dyer

    Torres | Suarez | Aguero

Obviously can downgrade Silva > Yaya and Young for Downing and have 0.5 to upgrade on a shockingly worringly def..

    thoughts?

Defence is okay, you can play the middle three week in week out. My concern with your team would be Taarabt and Dyer. Strikers look very good thought.

    Malouda or Lamplard?

    It's driving me crazy!

Malouda - cheaper, habit of scoring against rubbish teams, looked rubbish and got subbed after 64 mins v Stoke.

Lamplard - Nailed on to start, on pens (and Chelsea should have had at least two v Stoke), didn't do much from open play, costs £1.5m more.

That's a tough one. Was going to go for Malouda myself, but couldn't fit him into my team. Lampard could have a great fortnight.

I'm having exactly the same dilemma, Mr G. I had Malouda in GW1 and was really annoyed to see him play only 64 mins.

This has affected my thinking for GW2 as I don't believe that with Kalou, Anelka, Drogba sniffing around Malouda is a nailed on starter.
On the other hand, Lampard's stats were pretty poor from last week - zero attempts on goal - although, as you say, he should have had a pen.

Right now my head is saying Lampard, but there is quite a bit of me that thinks if Malouda starts he could do some damage - especially against Norwich GW3.

I actually think West Brom will put up a decent fight against Chelsea. I can't see it being a drubbing. What does anyone else think?

what are the thoughts on Cahill? He's penciled in at the moment but he hasn't yet had a chance to justify his 9.0m price tag and Everton are the epitome of slow starters. Is Osman/Arteta a more sensible choice because it would free up funds elsewhere.

I am going with Saha but if you can't spare a strikers berth, I fancy Osman to have a decent start to the season.

Everton tend to have a poor start to every season so I'm holding off till they kick into second gear. Or perhaps missing their opening game has removed their jinx.

Wouldn't go near Adam at his price so my answer would be A (would choose Kompany ahead of Lescott though)

    Got lost on last page:

    My current team is

    Given Ruddy

A Cole Enrique Kompany Simpson Gabbidon

N Zog Osman Moses Silva N Dyer

    AJ Rooney Torres

have 2,5 m in bank which I reckon is good for flexibility when I want to upgrade my Midfield/Forwards (when MU and Arsenal’s fixtures will get easier). I think my goalies and defenders are season keepers (at least until someone gets injured)

My main concern is Osman..I look at him as my Everton coverage for gameweeks 2-5..is he going to be a regular starter for those first games?
