As if out of sympathy for the Fantasy Premier League, or podcast recording software crashed at the death this week. Finished. Kaput.

Panic ensued – hands on head there were cries of “I can’t go through that again” from host Mark as I desperately attempted to recover our lost words. Luckily, temporary files restored, our fifty fourth episode was rescued and rebuilt like Ledley King’s knee. Hopefully it won’t collapse again next week – like Ledley King’s knee.

Within it you’ll find unusually muted tones as Mark and I dissect the events or rather “non-events” of the weekend. Frustrations vented, this week’s broadcast picks up to its usual pace and departs on an optimistic note.

Listen in and share our pain.

Wow, some amazingly bad advice on here, shocking in fact.

People are saying Villa will be a negative side, 'get rid' of N'Zogbia etc. etc. what am I getting?!?!

They're playing BBurn and Wolves at HOME and have great fixtures going forward, why wouldn't you pick him AND Bent! They've played ONE game away at Fulham which is tough and drew 0-0 so people are reading that as 'negative'.

People saying Chelsea defence is a risk because Cech is out, do me a favour, seriously. Hilario will be picking his nose most of the time for the next 2 weeks ffs. WBA and Norwich AT HOME talk about telling people to look a gift horse in the mouth, Jesus.

'Lampard's playing deep', 'Yaya's playing deep' no they're not they are playing as central midfielders with a licence to break forward so put your crack pipes away before you do any more damage. Do any of you actually watch the games? Both Lampard and Yaya were well advanced in both games last weekend, Lampard in particular was unlucky not to score well.

I can honestly say that, save for a few people, it would seem none of you know what you're talking about.

    Shocking.

Fulham away is a tough fixture, granted. Alex Mcleish was a negative manager throughout his whole time at Birmingham. You might say, OK he's gone to a bigger and better team so he'll change his tactics... I doubt it, that's his style, it would be like Allerdyce playing pass and move football because he's at a better club.

They should score goals against WBA and Norwich, no doubt about it and Darren Bent can never be a bad choice, but to say that people don't have a clue is wrong.

Sort of agree with you here, but I would still be worried about N'Zogbia (not so much Bent). McLeish is more negative, and N'Zogbia had no idea what he was doing - I would wait for him to find his feet, especially when you have Yaya at a similar price and so many cheaper options that are safer.

Lampard is my captain this week, so I agree there isn't a worry about him not bombing forward.

I just look at the advice of people i recognise...saves a lot of time.

Yaya is a stat demon, he rakes up ICT, PPI, Opta, whatever they throw at him as he charges into the opposition box. Anyone who says otherwise is wrong, as you say.

Didn't see the lampard game, but his price tag puts me off. Shame I'd have been all over him like a NOTW reporter over Princess Di's mobile if he'd have been a little cheaper (10.5 would have been lovely).

I accept the reasoning for Torres, but I'm not sold on him when there are better choices, albeit with less good fixtures, around for that price. Bent, Suarez, Rooney all appeal more for this week and the coming few weeks.

          Lampard too pricey.

No one is mentioning Malouda....I'm tempted, but once again his price puts me off.

A cole is tempting, but over Baines? Not sure. As it is I've gone for little Bosingwa

the rest rotation risks or too pricey for me ...and that includes Bosingwa.

N'Zogbia and Bent is overkill as Villa played weak sides in pre season and weren't exactly scoring loads. Bent is as much coverage as you need as he will be scoring most the goals anyway.

WBA and Norwich are both attacking teams and more likely to score against Chelsea than the likes of Newcastle, Stoke and Blackburn, imo...I wouldn't fancy them to keep 2 clean sheets even with Cech in goal.

Lampard was unlucky not to score even though he had 0 shots?

yeah agreed. as soon as someone states a fact like "lampard is playing deep" people who might not watch the games will just run with this information until told otherwise. thus you get other people who see this info and continue to give it as advice to other players not knowing themselves if its true or not...

You may think you are helping other players with this sort of advice when in fact you are just giving false info. Just something to be careful about and don't just take someones word for it, try to find out yourself..

All good points lads, you have restored my faith somewhat!

Too many posters asking for advice on A or B. It's really cluttering things up, hopefully the RMT posts will settle down soon and things will become clearer as games get played so there's less wanton, unbased conjecture.

Again, some good points in there, people need to be braver and look at the facts and watch games as opposed to just regurgitating what others have posted without asking themselves if it's correct.

        Good luck for the weekend.

*Seen a debate yesterday which was about having Torres OR Aguero for this gw, biggest no brainer of all time, Torres has possibly got the nicest home double you could get, alright aint scored for a while but looked pretty up for it on sunday............on the other side Aguero played against a SWANSEA defence that had been run ragged for 65 mins in their FIRST EVER premiership game and played in MAN CITYS HOME GROUND, also Man City got 2 tricky away games........Talk about a band wagon.............Torres ALL THE WAY.

A couple of Fulham related things-

    1. What's the chance of Zamora being rested this weekend given he put in a 90 minute shift last night?

    2. Is Senderos nailed on? Given that Jol played Kelly and Briggs last night putting Hughes back in the middle, i'm thinking that the £0.5m saved over Hughes might not be worth it.

Which strategy do you recommend to pick a good defense? I'm actually thinking of bringing in Olsson (WBA) and Tate (SWA) to support Kompany, Brown and Enrique - not because I particularly believe in WBA and SWA's defensive quality, but because of their fixtures and the fact that I then will have at least two defenders with home games all of the coming weeks. Is this idiotic?

    Given (Begovic)
    Baines, Lescott, Brown (Senderos, Simpson)
    Young, Silva, Sessegnon, Moses (Dyer)
    Torres, Suarez, Fletcher

AVB more attacking than most of his predecessors, Bosingwa not sure of a place long term and Chelsea w/o first choice keeper. That's my thinking. As long as Mancini is in charge, City will keep the most clean sheets in my opinion and it seems that the new BP calculation means that you need scoring defenders - thus Lescott better than Kompany

in old and new system, scoring defender will get bps. When they DONT score, Kompany more likely to get bps

Yep, you may be right ... although Kompany did outscore Lescott in the PPI last week.

Bosingwa in my team for 2 weeks then probably switch to Enrique / 0.5m extra for a city defender.

I suppose if money is no issue, Lescott > Bosingwa.

downgrade baines to cole, upgrade brown to young(everyone has Given so u will get twice the amount of points of your rivals when he gets a clean sheet). downgrade young to Nzog (villa easy fixtures)..upgrade silva to malouda(risky but chelseas home fixture...need i say any more)

My team is directly above yours. I think my midfield looks better personally. Otherwise your team balance is good (maybe a little too much in defence for 3-4-3). If you're not playing Moses against Swansea, do you really need him?

    Young, Silva, Larsson, Formica, (Ferguson)

    Torres, Aguero, Suarez,

Hilario/Ruddy is a ridiculous combination in my opinion. Screams wild card in two weeks. Aguero not 100% fit AND his world beating performance was at home to Swansea don't forget. Better options for the short term out there in my opinion. Ferguson is a waste because he won't play. Would you have picked Formica and Larsson before they scored last week?

Ok decided to go Cole to Bosingwa now Cech is out, not sure Cole is worth 7.5 any more. Gives me an extra 2.0, so where to spend it:

    A. Dyer - Sinclair/Brunt (with my mid rotation whovever this is has to play most of the next few weeks. Worried about Dyer)

    B. Saha - Bent/Suarez (other forward are Torres and Rooney, so would be top heavy)

    My team if it helps:

    Given Ruddy
    Baines Kompany Bos (simpson Brown)
Yaya Sess Jarvis Moses (Dyer) - Jarvis and Moses rotate nicely, final spot is the issue
    Torres Rooney Saha

    2.5 in the bank.

I just look at the advice of people i recognise…saves a lot of time.

Slaw is a moisture demon, he rakes up ICT, PPI, Opta, whatever they throw at him as he charges into the sandwich box. Anyone who says otherwise is wrong, as you say.

Didn’t see the yorkshire pudding game, but his price tag puts me off. Shame I’d have been all over them like a NOTW reporter over Princess Di’s mobile if he’d have been a little cheaper (£1 would have been lovely).
