The second gameweek of the Premier League season comes to a close tonight at Old Trafford, as champions Manchester United play host to a Tottenham Hotspur side belatedly starting their league campaign. The Dugout Discussion chatroom is open for business, so come in and take a seat whilst we mull over the all-important team news…

Injuries force Sir Alex to play an extremely young defence who, along with goalkeeper David De Gea, have an average age of just 22. Unforced however, is the youth in attack for the home side, who also have Javier Hernandez back in their match-day squad.

Man United XI: De Gea, Smalling, Jones, Evans, Evra, Anderson, Cleverley, Nani, Young, Rooney, Welbeck

As for the visitors, Luka Modric didn’t take the trip up the M1 because, according to Spurs boss Harry Redknapp, “his head isn’t right” with speculation about his future still rife. Elsewhere, Brad Friedel makes his club debut and Jake Livermore starts after scoring midweek at Tynecastle.

Spurs XI: Friedel; Walker, Dawson, Kaboul, Assou-Ekotto; Lennon, Kranjcar, Livermore, Bale; Van der Vaart; Defoe

Take a pew in the Dugout Discussion chatroom, where you can follow all the action from tonight’s game.

IF and i mean IF Torres does score, will he really go on and get two or three and have a great gameweek?
1 goal in 20-odd games so far, he's doing my head in!
Captained him last week to get 2 points, and 11m worth of investment. I'm thinking of reliable Rooney and maybe putting Malouda in my midfield!

Morning guys, I have had a decent couple of weeks averaging around 60 per GW and my team for the weekend is as follows:

    Hillario
    Simpson Kompany Jose Enrique Bosingwa
    Sessegnon Sinclair Lampard Silva
    Rooney Bent

    Vorm
    Brown
    Johnson A
    Moses

I've already brought in Jose Enrique in for A Hughes, do you think I need to make any further transfers and take a points hit? or have I got enough to get by?

          Agreed....I am playing a 4-4-2

With Kompany (Spurs away) Jose Enrique(Bolton at Home) Bosingwa(Norwich at home) Simpson (Fulham at home). Dropping Brown to the Bench for the Swans game. The way I see it 75% of them have decent home games!

          Or am I missing something?

Think about it. If you do another transfer you need to be super confident that the player you put in will score at the very least 4 points more than the person you are taking out.

I don't see any problems with your team like injuries so why would you need to take a points hit?

I've got a total of 30 points this week and I'm actually happy with my team. I'm making no transfers this week so I can do a double transfer if I see fit next week.

Here is a list of proven Man Utd attackers that will play pretty much every week and consistently score big:

      Rooney.

The others are all under threat of rotation/rest or can't be relied upon IMO.

Dont want to take a hit but really want to make a change.

    Baines ---> Jose Enrique

    Or

    Torres ---> Bent

    ??

Want to get rid of both eventually to free up cash to bolster midfield, which is more essential this week? (I really hate having torres, so kinda leaning that way)

      Baines to enrique.

I'm not taking Torres out before a visit from Norwich. Everybody's saying he's back to his old form after a great game vs stoke. He had no impact the next game so suddenly he's useless again. Give him another game, he could score a handful. Next week if he doesn't you will have enough for RVP, Rooney, Aguero etc.

Just get rid of Baines for now....give Torres one last chance against Norwich and if he blows again....boot him out!

I feel bad for the Torres owners, I was so close to being seduced after his encouraging performance against Stoke. It's a difficult decesion for you guys but I would keep him for one more week!

will go Baines to Enrique freeing up 3.0 mil then,

Havew Rooney, Suarez, Torres front 3, so will keep torres this week and get rid next week no matter what. Even if he scores 5 this weekend.

Although..,. something tells me he wont start this weekend. Drogba will start...._

I know it's a weird question to ask, but does anyone have any idea which defender will have the best chances of assisting, or even scoring, this weekend? I may have to take a hit to take out a defender to reorganise players, so I'd need to be getting someone with the potential for more than a clean sheet. I'm thinking either of the Taylors from Newcastle. Any other ideas?

guys i have a couple of questions about this team,
    Given, (Ruddy)
    Baines(VC) Richards, A.Cole (C) (Simpson, De Laet)
Silva, Obi Mikel, N'Zogbia, Bale (Moses)
    Heskey, Suarez, Augero
firstly i have 0.5M in the bank
ok now for the three questions
    1. do i need to do a trade?
    2. who should i start?
    3. who should be captain
my current feelings are no trade, the people i have currently on field and A.Cole with Suarez/Baines as Vc

EA Sports index has updated: after two gameweeks,

    Rooney 69
    Welbeck 63
    Anderson 58

Rooney was on 29 this morning so he got 40 for last night. Neither Anderson or welbeck were in the top 100, the 100th score being 19, so roughly estimated....

    Welbeck 63-15=48
    Anderson 58-15=43

Just a guess really but I'd say, Welbeck 3 bps, Anderson 2 bps and Rooney 1 bps

Hope this satisfies people's hunger for now!

Rooney was by far and away he best player on the pitch yet because he had two shots off target he gets heavily penalised.

      From my seat

      Rooney 3
      Jones 2
      Welbeck 1

I look forward to your podcast this week. Surely there is some error with the bps system that penalises players so heavily for shots off target. Shots at target says threat to me. Goal scored says threat to me. But according to EA Sports shoot at the cross bar or just over and you turn into a league one player. Rubbish.

Metro scoring is much better. BAsed on passes in final third, goals and all round being a good footballer. Wellbeck would have got 3 bp, rooney 2ps. Why? Because they scored and were dangerous all night.

I agree. It does show up the limitations of this system quite a lot when you look at last nights game, quite clearly Rooney was the best player on the pitch. Then next best were possibly the middle two at the back for United. Defenders are going to be the big losers in this system, unless of course, they score or assist.

I've done the same calculation and get the same answer.

Welbeck 3 bps, Anderson 2 bps and Rooney 1 bps

Bit of a joke really, I thought A Young was sensational and deserved at least 2 bonus, but looks like its all about goals now, shame.

Guy's you're all making embarrasingly heavy weather out of this. The EA PPI on your transfers page don't update until the BPs come ni. You can therefore always view how many PPI a player had before this week.

              Welbeck had 10.
              Anderson had 15.

Therefore Rooney got 40 PPI, Welbeck 53 and Anderson 43. Simples.

Young was incredibly wasteful, hardly delivered a cross and his corners and free kicks weren't much better.

Agree on corners and free kicks, but some of his runs were great and turned defence into attack very quickly, he always looked a threat and could have had a couple of goals.

      Given
      Baines, S.Taylor, Bosingwa, Simpson
      Lampard, Sinclair, Brunt
      Torres, Suarez C, Fletcher

      Subs: Vorm, Hoolahan, Moses, Warnock

Not sure about the doubling up on Newcastle defenders. Might get a Liverpool player in.
