UEFA Champions League Fantasy Game Goes Live

With the August transfer window now firmly closed, the thirty-two clubs participating in this season’s Champions League have subsequently entered their official squads to UEFA.

The tournament kicks off on Tuesday September 13 – that’s a week today – and Fantasy managers will be pleased to know they have the option of another game to test their managerial abilities – the UEFA Fantasy Champions League has opened for business, allowing you to consider the merits of Lionel Messi, Cristiano Ronaldo and, of course, Alberto Aquilani for your fifteen-man squads.

This season we will not only be re-opening the Scout League (code: 212-74) for another title tilt but will be setting aside the regular Scout cap and donning a beret, fedora or perhaps even a Ushanka in order to provide coverage of the tournament over the course of this season. Whether it’s the continental glamour tie of Barcelona vs Milan or the perhaps slightly less appealing APOEL vs Zenit, every game will get some level of mention with player picks thrown in as we go.

Keep your eyes peeled across these here pages in the days to come for more information, then, but for now, let us begin tinkering with our new squads and relish the joys of being able to line up Wayne Rooney and co alongside our favourite players from La Liga, the Bundesliga and beyond.

    Right, here's what I'm thinking of doing.

    Nasri for Adam
    Suarez for Klasnic
    Jarvis for Yaya
    Bosingwa in for Kompany

    The first two are the ones I really want to do. The second two are necessary to free up the required funds for the first two. I've already brought Dzeko in for Aguero. In total, this is going to cost me 16 points. Considering taking the hit, so I can keep my wildcard for later in the season when, inevitably, a tempting double gameweek situation arises. I am six points clear at the top of my league.

          Id like another city midfielder and RVP in there but cant do that nor do i want to make a WC for 2 changes.

          Its a mixture of planning and randomness that i got this line up but im very happy with it.

          I may even keep Lamps for the season - but will re consider after Swansea.

            Yes, I've just about realised that the players from the better clubs are more likely to score well than the players from the lesser clubs, cheers for that.

            My point is that having one player from each of the top 5 sides isn't necessarily a good tactic. I'd rather have two Arsenal attackers than one Arsenal, one Chelsea in the next few weeks, for example.

            Possibly, remains to be seen. I've always loved Arteta, as you know, but the last couple of seasons he's been really average. Still think he can get back to his best when surrounded by better players.

      A large part of his points last season was due to BPs. 5 goals and 3 assists all season when he was everything. For Spurs I see him just doing the basics and allowing the creative guys to do their thing.

          When VdV comes back, Parker/Modric play the centre two with Bale/Lennon and VdV off Adebayor.

          At least that's how I see it, Parker was bought to bring bite to the midfield.

            Exactly, Parker will be shackled behind Modric and then VDV when he's back as well.

            Parker will get around 5 goals, but you'll be lucky to not have not benched him the weeks he actually pops up with a goal.

      Bosnia nearly destroyed me today. Belarus were down to ten men after about half an hour, and Bosnia just couldn't break them down. Luckily Belarus got another player sent off with five minutes to go, and Bosnia scored virtually immediately after.

          Not brilliant, although he was a little unlucky with some marginal offside calls. Was a bit isolated at times, but he's still looking much better than the player we all laughed at last season, so much more mobile.
