[sbu_large_image] Champions League

With the August transfer window now firmly closed, the thirty-two clubs participating in this season’s Champions League have subsequently entered their official squads to UEFA.

The tournament kicks off on Tuesday September 13 – that’s a week today – and Fantasy managers will be pleased to know they have the option of another game to test their managerial abilities – the UEFA Fantasy Champions League has opened for business, allowing you to consider the merits of Lionel Messi, Cristiano Ronaldo and, of course, Alberto Aquilani for your fifteen-man squads.

This season we will not only be re-opening the Scout League (code: 212-74) for another title tilt but will be setting aside the regular Scout cap and donning a beret, fedora or perhaps even a Ushanka in order to provide coverage of the tournament over the course of this season. Whether it’s the continental glamour tie of Barcelona vs Milan or the perhaps slightly less appealing APOEL vs Zenit, every game will get some level of mention with player picks thrown in as we go.

Keep your eyes peeled across these here pages in the days to come for more information, then, but for now, let us begin tinkering with our new squads and relish the joys of being able to line up Wayne Rooney and co alongside our favourite players from La Liga, the Bundesliga and beyond.

Andy Leicester won the Premier League. Leicester. Premier League. What is this life? Follow them on Twitter

Enzo Zidane, 16 years old, trained this afternoon for the first time with Real Madrid's first team.

Jordi Cryuff Mk II or is he actually good?

Did you get that from my twitter?? If so that's the first time something I found there made it anywhere.

By the way I don't know and I don't think anyone else knows, but rumours are that Manchester United have tried to sign him more than once but failed.

Yeah I retweeted it, I'd never find something like that first hand.

No way he'll reach the heights of Zinedine, but I can't wait to see him play still.

Did you read that Wigan signed Cruyff's daughters son (or something) btw? He's gonna be the best of the lot! 🙂

It's a kip. They eat pie and peas constantly. MUSHY PEAS ON A PIE! Oh the humanity!

I like pies, I like peas. But not together.

There be nowt wrong with pies and peas our lad. Add some gravy, proper gravy, and you got yourself a proper northern meal right there. Super, smashing, great.

Mushy peas are great with fish and chips. Not with pies. That's an offence to nature.

I don't eat fish but when I lived in England I used to like the idea of vinegar on chips. We don't do that here.

We don't, but that wouldn't be weirder than putting it on chips and crisps would it?

You have some seriously fishy flavours on your crisps by the way. Beef, lamb etc? Mental.

Sort of but the fact he's in QPR is a slight deterrent.
And Jarvis, Brunt and Cabaye are all cheaper and in better teams.

I agree but i cant decide between Jarvis (who has a toughish fixture this wkend)
or Barton or SWP (i fancy QPR to beat the geordies and they have good fixtures)
or Ramsey for some cheap Arsenal cover??

Well I have Jarvis right now while I wait on rises but he'll probably get dropped for Brunt or Cabaye come Saturday morning. Most likely the former.

Ramsey may be a good punt til Wilsheres back but I'm gona wait and see how/where he plays over the next week or 2. Same goes for SWP I think.

It's all a bit petty really. Could really do with Fletcher in the side but Levein is far from blameless. He bent over backwards to get the Rangers players back who refused to play for Burley (Kris Boyd, I ask you???) but spat out the dummy when Fletcher wanted to get his place back in the Wolves side after injury and didn't want to be considered for the NI friendly. I guess he was a bit miffed at sitting on the bench against the Czechs in Levein's legendary 4-6-0 formation.

better in FPL terms...not necessarily as a player in real terms.

He is an assist king in a team in great attacking form. His stats from last season were good and this season are excellent. Cabaye is doing well and proving himself, but Jarvis has far more evidence to say that he is currently a better pick than Cabaye.

I'd rule out Ferdinand and Boyce as you're never really going to WANT to play them.

Olsson's maybe a reasonable short term shout.

If Woodgate stays fit he will provide defensive returns. Possible rotation risk whilst Stoke are in Europe though.

Santon could turn out to be gold but is probably more "wait and see" at the moment.

Berra for me is the safe option there. Wolves playing well, looking stronger defensively than last season (not hard) and has so far outscored the rest of his team on the EA Sports index so offers BP potential too.

Oops, was looking at Ward on the EA thingy. Still he's outscoring Johnson though.
