Having been stalled by the international break and a glamorous trip back to Manchester, I take my seat alongside Mark in the studio once again, desperately wrestling for air time against the prolific gabber spewed from the ScoutCast host. Mark tries to be on his best behaviour in this episode, knuckles wrapped by a frustrated listener deprived of my pearls of wisdom by his constant interruptions, you can sense the intense effort as Mark holds his silence.

It’s not easy; once again we’ve a contentious issue to discuss – Rooney’s dubious assist back in Gameweek three still nags away at those without the folically challenged hot-shot. The new assist ruling gets the ScoutCast treatment then, accompanied by the usual half-arsed analysis of the Gameweek fixture list and the likely protagonists involved.

Toure/Barry more defensive, Arteta/Walcott could go either way.

There's a Walcott bandwagon on here - personally I've never liked his inconsistency, especially at that price. It may pay off it may not.

      i'd start given.

vorm you'd expect to concede 3-4 goals against a fired up arsenal side, and i doubt his save points would make up for that, whereas given is playing for a defensively minded manager, has a good cb pair in front of him, and is playing vs everton who aren't exactly scoring freely right now.

I wouldn't do it, cheapo defenders have done well so far, long term it's better to have a more solid overall team... Ditch one of the 9+ mids for a 6mil one and it'll be far easier!

I was planning on having Bosingwa, Kompany, De Laet, Simpson and Gabbidon, with 0.6m left in the bank. I was planning on saving that 0.6m to upgrade one of my players later on, but I could use that to get Ward instead of Gabbidon?

if you have boswinga and kompany you could rotate the last 4m defender. I'm guessing you play 3 defenders only.

I would pick N.Taylor or Caulker ahead of Gabbidon, you can then rotate depending on fixtures. Swansea have kept a few clean sheets at home. QPR don't look good defensively, although that may change with the new signings. Gabbidon is a risk as its between him/Hall/Perone for a place.

    hey guys

    current team is:

    krul/vorm
    enrique/bosingwa/ward/simpson/de laet
    young/nasri/hunt/petrov/dyer
    rooney/RVP/dzeko

i have 0.4 in the bank which i can do very little with.

the issue is rvp; his fixtures are obviously epic, but the extra 2 points rvp>suarez gives me = upgrades in the midfield, which is a little weak.

    any thoughts?

so you have two defenders who will definitely play; de leat and enrique. Plus two midfielders who are likely to play; silva (rotation?) and brunt...

I would ignore the GK situation for this week, you have little choice.

Wait for injury/team news today/tomorrow morning. Baines, Jarvis, Nasri may make it. Then you could get away with one transfer.

Evans is not spot safe. It's generally a risk choosing a MUFC-defender who's not Vidic, Ferdinand or Evra. Rio is on his way back and might get to play this weekend already. They also have Fabio who might play RB, and that would push Smalling in as CB with Evans dropping to the bench.

With your team, I would rather switch Evans for Brown or a 5.0m defender (Shawcross, Warnock etc..).
Also, Cech is back for Chelsea, so Hilario won't get many more points in the weeks to come.

Hi, I've noticed that in my mini league that pretty much everyone has Rooney apart from me (& I suffered as a result!) and am wondering if having having a front three of Dzeko, RVP & Suarez up top is a good tactical move? Pretty much noone has Dzeko up to now, but I don't know how much of a rotation risk he is?

rvp would be a bigger differential than rooney you'd have to think.

if you really want to take a different tack i'd maybe look at adebayor and spend the extra in midfield, but you're gambling with tottenham coming good. which seems madness given dzeko is right in form and has 5 decent fixtures coming up.

I'm a Spurs season ticket holder and they are always a gamble! I think Adebayor will be the main man, but I'd wait a few weeks until our form/fixtures hopefully pick up. I guess my other option is to go Dzeko, Rooney, Suarez, which is probably safer?

i'm personally going rooney/rvp/dzeko; gonna ride rooney/dzeko's form as far as possible and hope that rvp flips out vs swansea before everyone gets him.

it's a risk, i'm 60 points behind my mini-league leader and i want to make up ground quickly, so i've wildcarded and i'm rolling the dice. your option is much safer, because obv you'd have the cash to spend elsewhere.

Thanks for the advice, I think your front 3 is probably the way to go, but I've only just put Suarez in and want to stick with him which leaves the choice of who to leave out. I saw Dzeko play last week and he looked really sharp, but with RVP if he plays he normally scores with easy fixtures and Rooney just seems to score whatever the fixture at the mo.

Short term I think Enrique will gain some more...but long term...perhaps still Cahill...Bolton do have stiff opposition in the next little while...so you may only be relying on his goal scoring threat...which he's more than capable of delivering on.

Joke - good team - Mertesacker is a bit of a punt for £6m. I'd be inclined to maybe downgrade him to eg Warnock or Enrique and that will let you upgrade Ferguson to Dyer? It seems marginal but a player that never plays is a waste of money big time

Mega front line but its sucking up a lot of money - they need to deliver big time

Any tips for a solid 5.0m midfielder?
I am going with the 3-4-3 formation, and the 5.0m midfielder will not be my regular starter.

At the moment I have Moses, but I have wildcarded (due to many other reasons) and have been looking at options. Any ideas?

Dude...I'm at a loss...Had Moses too and decided that with fixtures and sharpness being issues, I have dropped him for Dyer. He could still be worth holding onto though...There is a guy in QPR called Baszaky which I'm following but not sure with new team mates if his role will be the same...he seems to be playing quite high up.

Would avoid Buzsaky until you see how he'll fit in with the new midfield signings (SWP, Barton). Remember Buzsaky didn't start the first game.

I don't have much faith in Buzsaky getting to much playing time. Going with a 4-5-1 formation and considering QPR's latest transfers both Barton, Taarabt, SWP, DJ Campbell and T.Smith will play before Buzsaky in the offensive line. Derry and Faurlin might be the ones holding the defensive midfield line, so there won't be much space for Buzsaky...

Moses is a good option at that price. He was unlucky not to score in the first few games. Barkley is another option but Moyes may protect him (was subbed early vs Blackburn). To save money you can go for Dyer since he will not be a regular starter. He got 3 bonus points in one game and is a safe bet at 4.5m.

    Morning All,

I have been settled on my team for a while now but doubt has crept in again and I was curious what others thought. I have Nasri and Dzeko both in a City team which are firing. Now I wonder if I shouldn't drop Nasri for Walcott or even Arteta.

Problem is that City are on form and, rotation aside, seem the better team to bank on at the moment for attacking points...but Arsenal won't be average for much longer surely...and have a great chance of scoring well this weekend...

So do I stick it out or take the plunge...I am waaaaay behind in my mini-leagues so either need to look for consistency now and slowly haul everyone in or take a risk and gain loads or drop even further behind. I'm leaning towards consistency which suggests keeping Nasri...but I'll let you decide...

(My first "risk" move already in place is Mata)

Why do you think Arsenal won't be 'average' for long? It isn't like they are a team of superstars who are just going through a bad run that will eventually come to an end.

They are actually an average team now, they are no longer a top 3 team and will find it hard to get into the top 4 - I wouldn't be expecting them to go around beating teams by 3 or 4 goals simply because they are Arsenal.

Well that is your opinion Mark's Favourtie Hat and time will tell...and by that opinion I take it you suggest to keep Nasri?

Christina...are you suggesting Walcott or saying stick with Nasri?

On that note, how sad is it to see Robbie Fowler reduced to playing from some random Thai team now?

have got the usual suspects (RVP, Roonpig, Nasri, Baines), so the question is . . .
    A) Ruiz, Arteta, Meireles
    or
    B) Suarez, Brunt, Barton
    or
    C) Ruiz, Mata, Watson

A lot of Chelsea fans want him to start, it would be good to see a frontline of

      Sturridge/Torres/Mata

but its 50/50 atm, if you want to take a risk on a player, I say go for it but if you want to play it safe then leave him for a few weeks yet.

    My team:

    Hilario (Vorm)
    Bosingwa Enrique Kompany (Briggs, Simpson)
Taarabt Nani Silva Brunt (N Dyer)
    Suarez Dzeko(C) Rooney

I don't think Hilario will play, but Vorm should get a few save points, he's been on my bench since day 1 and outscored ever other goalkeeper :-(!
Really struggling on who to captain, and feeling slightly left out on all the new "must have" players...
    ie: RVP, Arteta etc!
