Before all the Rooney vice-captains come into play and we can concentrate on European endeavours for a couple of days we’ve got the Joey Barton of all match-ups.

The prickly character sees us open the Dugout Discussion as manager Neil Warnock hands him the armband against his old side Newcastle – not one to flounce under the radar, clearly. QPR are in fact rocking a whole host of new signings while Alan Pardew recalls Shola Ameobi in place of Peter Lovenkrands. Sides in full are…

QPR XI: Kenny; Young, Gabbidon, Ferdinand, Traore; Barton, Derry, Faurlin, Taarabt, Wright-Phillips; Bothroyd.

Newcastle XI: Krul; Simpson, S. Taylor, Coloccini, R. Taylor; Obertan, Tiote, Cabaye, Gutierrez; Best, Ameobi.

Let us close the gameweek together in the Dugout Discussion and watch the sparks fly.

Dyer was really far up the front as compared to Sinclair. But.. I had not seen any clear chances made by him. IMO.. Sinclair was looking more likely to get assist or score.

if i get him now ill just stay behind them, i prefer to play it catchup with manu difficult run of fixtures and when fixtures are clear will buy him.

    Morning everyone,

    1. I have 8m to spend on a striker and looking to bring in Adebayor. What are people thoughts on him? Is he a nailed on starter for Spurs?

    2. 90% of my minileague captained Rooney and pretty sure the majority will captain him again vs Chelsea. Im trailing behind 40 points so can anyone suggest if i should follow with (c) Rooney and having RVP as the deff? or might as well (c) RVP altogether?

    3. Is it worth sticking up with Nzog as he's playing NEW, qpr, WIG or his price will keep on plumeting?

      1) Adebyaor or Odemwinge, Adebayor for me though!

      2) Follow and captain Rooney, you are only 4 weeks into the season - plenty of time to catch up.

      3) I never thought N'Zogbia was a good purchase, so I would get rid but its up to you on that one! Depends on who you could bring in for him

Leaning towards Ade as well, reckon Spurs will score alot more than WBA.

Or.... Do I take a 4point hit to get Suarez instead of Ade and Nzog to a 6m mid?

You need to captain Rooney, one of the biggest mistakes people make is not captaining the obvious choice because they went for a risky/off form player in the hope they will do well, they very rarely do (See Torres GW 2/3)

Just make the points up slowly with your other players

I think he's referring to the fact that Rooney probably won't score every game (never mind 3) and almost half the players have him so getting him in now just means your miles behind with no hope of catching up (unless you have good differentials elsewhere).

Fair play Rooney has been amazing and proved me wrong about his strike rate but I just don't see him sustaining anything like that rate of scoring.

Obviously he wont score 3 every game, but he is the form player in the comp and is the only obvious striker pick.
                Aguero/Dzeko rotation

The only thing that is going to happen with not having Rooney is that instead of being 40 points away from the top this week, you will be 80 points away in a few weeks time.

Just put rooney in, captain him and then make up the points with your other players

Rooney and Suarez are my season keepers, the other will change with form/fixtures

In UCL fantasy I have 15.5 to spend on a mid and a forward. This will be for the first gameweek only (will probably switch to Shaqiri and Rooney), so you don't need to consider their long-term potential. I'm leaning towards Fabregas and A.Frei, but also considering Kagawa and Milito. Any other suggestions?

Suarez is playing so amazingly well, fashioning chances out of nothing. He was an absolute livewire in the Stoke game. The only thing I can think is those transferring him out are not watching the football.

Isn't it amazing? I see bandwagons to sell Suarez and Moses because they've played well but got no points for the last 3/4 weeks. Then I see bandwagons to buy SWP because he played well but got no points for the last week, or even better, RVP, because he didnt play well AND got no points for the last 4 weeks.

    Make sense much?

I thought <_ Young was maybe some kind of shorthand for "Ashley Young is playing well but isn't actually as good as his form suggests" ha ha

Can't understand the Suarez and Moses out moves, I think both will be good players over the course of a season, especially given their prices.

The thing with RVP and SWP is that people know that form is temporary and class is permanent. You can choose to chase the Rooney/Young/Dzeckos but it's not just about how they scored in the last few weeks.

I've no idea why so many people on here got Dzecko - I know he has the potential to score well when he plays but one of the basic principles of fantasy football is to get a player who plays most/every game... especially when you can have Silva for a million more.

"The thing with RVP and SWP is that people know that form is temporary and class is permanent."

Please tell this to Gamst-Pedersen, Matt Taylor, Elano, Rosicky, Arshavin, Robbie Keane, Zhirkov and the man, Fernando Torres. In Fantasy football, Form is as important as Class, if not more.

The key in FF is differentiating between form and a single good week for a player.

He always is, virtually every season. However don't forget Arsenal also used to be good, used to have self-belief and used to have geniuses in midfield for good service.

Also note that his propensity for injury (understatement, I know) makes him a naturally poor FPL candidate.

Agree with the former but the latter is irrelevant in my opinion.

I'm on the SWP bandwagon purely because I wanted him in this week but bottled it for Walcott. Every shot he had last night I was wincing and saying "don't score!", there were a lot of moments like that. It was a great game actually, like a good Championship match.

Maybe CL would help them to bring them in form. RVP was the ace for last years season. Dont know when he will shine.

I am keeping him and thinking of captaining him. Something diff as everyone will captain Rooney.

Very popular topic on here! Comes down to form vs. ability to score points... both have the latter, only Rooney the former. RVP has the fixtures to do well but who knows.

If you have RVP then give him a couple of weeks I'd say, I own him though so maybe I'm biased.

excellent thinking, many people dnt watch teh game or have access to 1 game per week. suarez have been an absolute masterclass the last 2 games, the best iv ever seen from a striker that ddnt score, and if it were to the last bonus system he wouldv bagged all of them.

wnt really bet on a player who havnt played 90 minutes for ages, always a risk of injury (hamstring most probably) and tireness or failing to manage his energy during 90 minutes. yesterdays game wasnt vey demanding defensively.
and we only saw his against probably the worst |LB in teh league atm (r taylor) who is not a left back and was never good enough (defensively) as a rb

Urgh he should/could have had a big big score. If Bothroyd had his shooting boots on any of about three SWP crosses should've been put in, and SWP had a shot cleared off the line. Very frustrating to only have 3 points out of it.

The defence has been great, but that has had very little to do with Ryan Taylor.

I'm wondering whether a position switch would be good for him, like it did for Gareth Bale. The lad's set pieces are brilliant, but his defending is dismal.

You obviously feel strongly about this Juzzie and are willing to chase down anyone who says otherwise but RVP is not totally off form.

He's had 10 shots (5 on target), one goal and one bonus point (plus he's showed some form in the CL and internationals)

Bale has had 6 shots, 1 on target and no fantasy returns.

In my opinion RVP shows more promise of hitting form but if you disagree then that's your choice!

No I don't really mind if people have RVP, I just don't like that a line of logic can be applied to one player and ignored for another, like what people are doing with Moses or Suarez which is in contrast to their behaviour with SWP, and you have done with Bale in contrast to RVP. And I think I will continue to satirise such discrepancies from anyone.

If you notice I'm not chasing down everyone, and was going to be quiet if you didn't bring in this argument. If someone else had made this point about Bale it makes total sense, but from you it seems directly at odds with your RVP choice.

Your point was that if a player is expensive, you'd want to see some form to bring him in. RVP is extremely expensive and hardly has shown any semblance of form warranting that price. If you applied the same logic you did with Bale, you'd probably not have RVP.

I do have RVP so perhaps I'm a little biased 😛

Still, the stats would suggest he's got a good chance of scoring and he's not totally off form, plus RVP has been THE must have player over the last few seasons (when fit) so I stick by my statement! I think he's a different prospect to Bale, who has had good spells of form and scoring but hasn't really been consistent and doesn't look like hitting form. Plus I gave my opinion I didn't tell him not to get Bale in.

                Valid points.

Do note that RVP has never been THE must have player. I had him on a hot streak a couple seasons back, but his inevitable injury 3 GWs midway meant it was awfully short and taxed my free transfers.

Pedersen, Matt Taylor, Bullard, Elano, Adebayor, Berbatov, Drogba, Baines, Hangeland, Dunne, CRon, Gerrard, Lamps have all been must-haves. RVP never stayed fit long enough to be season-impacting like them.

Bale is currently nowhere near my watchlist. If he bangs in a few goals then yes, I might well "jump on him" but here's a pop quiz for you: when did Gareth Bale score his last league goal?

Do u know how many ppl bought in Dzeko/ Walcott / Persie (Epic fail) this gw... Apart from that do you know how many of them choose Van persie/ walcott as captain after Arsenal were &&& whipped by Man UTD.

Bale might have scored his last goal last Jan. But he s a class and spurs got a better team now with parker and adebayor and defoe getting his goal scoring act, so it might help Bale as well for an assist/ goal. That 's what im thinking mate.

Well I think sooner is better than later particularly as we get another in weeks 21-28.

My plan is to w/c in the International break after week 7. It worked out well for me last year. By then, we 'll have a better and more reliable idea of player performances. Plus you have the advantage of 2 weeks of price rises.

Going to come on later. Getting the stup1d vibes on here

    Last week i was told:

    Take rooney out for RVP
    Captain RVP
    I'm an id1ot if i don't have walcott
I have too many newcastle defenders
    Baines isn't worth the money

    This morning the consensus is:

Have dzeko coz he will play parts/every other game ahead of either adebayor or klasic (LOL)
R Taylor will be dropped next week (newcastles defence is just awful isn't it?
Everyone should have SWP coz he was the most influential player in a game that finished 0.0 (If thats the case i don't want his influence in my team thanks...another sessegnon/taarabt/sinclair bandwagon)

    Utter nonesense.

I just realised how similar the value changes are to internet poker.

The only reason people make money in internet poker, is because there are a lot of others who are really bad at playing.

The only reason prices go up so quick is because there are a lot of people jerking those knees.

Well i would suggest, if you are a football game fan, that you at least give PES the time of day. Maybe rent it or borrow it, but give it a few games. It is a different feel, but it might be proffered.

I wish EA would release the 'Ultimate Team' as a stand alone game. I really like that but don't fancy buying the full FIFA.

Well i find the main difference is the depth of the game modes. Master League is the main one, and you start with a team of no hopers and have to build them up to the top. It just has a greater sense of achievement i found than manager mode in FIFA.

AI has been improved this year, and is said to be the best. FIFA obviously has all hte licences, but PES does have a community of kit/logo makers if you don't mind waiting for the updates.

In general too PES seems to have better player individuality. So Messi will feel different from Rooney.

Thats the best i can summarise but obviously just my opinion.

Forum and tagging are two entirely different methods of classification which serve different purposes.

Your initial post seems to be asking for a tag system, (which is good, btw, nothing wrong with it because more organisation would help), but how you can say "exactly. I am proposing a forum" from that makes zero sense. Maybe you thought it, but there's nothing in your initial post to suggest you were proposing a forum at all.

There should be just an FAQ article every week that covers questions such as

          Why was Brunt dropped?

Will Walcott get an assist for no reason?

Come on, that was a clear assist!! Read the rules!

            Not going for it?

Nah, me neither... I had him as captain and did think "well, stranger things have happened..." but never actually expected to get it.

Tough choice? Surely you have tattooed that arm band on Rooney by now? Set it and leave if, I would if i had him.

Go back to Andy's Champions League article, there's a shed load of teams there to copy. Or, you could just make one yourself.
