Before all the Rooney vice-captains come into play and we can concentrate on European endeavours for a couple of days we’ve got the Joey Barton of all match-ups.

The prickly character sees us open the Dugout Discussion as manager Neil Warnock hands him the armband against his old side Newcastle – not one to flounce under the radar, clearly. QPR are in fact rocking a whole host of new signings while Alan Pardew recalls Shola Ameobi in place of Peter Lovenkrands. Sides in full are…

QPR XI: Kenny; Young, Gabbidon, Ferdinand, Traore; Barton, Derry, Faurlin, Taarabt, Wright-Phillips; Bothroyd.

Newcastle XI: Krul; Simpson, S. Taylor, Coloccini, R. Taylor; Obertan, Tiote, Cabaye, Gutierrez; Best, Ameobi.

Let us close the gameweek together in the Dugout Discussion and watch the sparks fly.

Poor performance but happy with the result considering.

QPR impressive, should be ok on this showing, certainly improved a lot since the opening day.

Yeah, My overall feeling watching that game tonight was that it was a game between two teams that should be safe come the end of this season. Shame we couldn't get a top striker in the window but I imagine that will come in the January window.

Overall though I'm very happy with that performance tonight. If we play like that the results will come. I'd have settled for a point at the start of the night and 11th place.

Hardly gospel although might be a guide but whoscored.com has Danny Simpson top, followed by Faurlin and Joey Barton. They use extensive statistics to work out the best players...

Not too fussed if SWP's performance tonight generates a bit of a bandwagon. As with Sinclair, Moses, Taarabt & co., an awful lot of lower-priced players have threatened plenty but delivered little...

    the crystal bap says:
s.taylor 3 - his normal bap frinedly performance topped up by his shot/header on target.
taarabt 2 - a couple of shots, importantly both on target.
derry 1 - kept things ticking over quietly in the middle.

despite going to close to as much as 20+ points on another day nothing for SWP for the simple reason that he had at least 3 shots off target, one of them harshly as krul actually tipped it wide but the award of a goal kick should ensure SWP is penalised.

My match ratings out of 10 for the Toons starting XI

Krul - 5.5 (a bit cheatey with his timewasting antics)
Simpson - 6.5 (one of our better performers)
Raylor - 3.5 (poor, left us open at the back. Not a defender)
S.Taylor - 6 (good clearance off the line, reasonably solid)
    Coloccini - 6 (solid enough)
Tiote - 4.5 (not one of his vintage performances)
    Cabaye - 4.5 (largely anonymous)
Obertan - 5.5 (decent outlet on occasions)
Jonas - 5.5 (not great, not awful)
Best - 6 (looked quite sharp in the first half)
    Ameobi - 3.5 (moribund)
    Jay Bothroyd - 10 (MOM)
