Patience, the antithesis of our oft-used phrase ‘knee jerk’ is the theme that runs through our latest Podcast episode.

Mark is adamant that he’s set to stand by his men, despite paltry returns thus far. Having missed out on the Wayne Rooney hat-tricks though, can he really afford to risk another avalanche?

Also in discussion this week – dubious pinball assists and Dzeko rotation pains, all blended with the usual mix of moans, speculative opinions and random musings that make up the regular ScoutCast offering.

Worth pointing out that the FFS league started in week 2, after the FPL cock-up, so the guy at the top of the FFS league almost certainly isn't the person with the best overall ranking in the league.

I quite like you and rate your intellect - but you can be a broken, dreary, tired record sometimes.

And - frankly - I think you were a galactic-sized doosh to SOM for no perceivable reason.

Why do people here think when i causally post something in a normal way think im being offensive etc

Me and som were fine today - i just got tired of his posts to me (you probably didnt notice he wrote the same thing to me over the last 4 weeks, same tone when i asked a question just based on fpl...literally the same joke.

Its got to the point where if i ask an fpl question i get that response. I was tired of it so i called him on it. It wasnt a random attack nor was it very serious*

*i think people get wrong impression of my posts and attitude, im quite laid back. Think gargamel like.

Gargamel largely limits himself to football. Imagine that.

Fact is, it's gets adversarial enough around here without the constant picking of controversial topics to get everyone's blood up and inject bad karma into the mix.

And if I told you to go F*ck yourself, casually, would that be offensive?

Lastly, you pounced on Soup, browbeat him, and wore him down until you got him to apologize. You probably feel good about it - I think you're a flat track bully because of it.

Far below your usual standards. Shame.

No offense intended by that characterization, Soup.

And: I dislike City, a lot, allllll the way from NY, USA. And I don't have to explain or justify to anyone why I do.

BTW: 'Fans' actually *want* to watch their team. It's kinda the definition of the word 'fan'

I wasnt implying you had to defend it

i was giving a reason - its a group norm

to be a united fan you accept the group norms and roles.

I was saying you can like a team without doing this

I think you are really over thinking things here.

Me and SOM are grand - this actually happens alot between us it appears and i dont see anything in it. Nor i would suspect does he. As i said again i was on WC was genuinely looking for advice and he made the same joke again - my response to him again wasnt some serious angry provoke not have i honeslty felt good about it or even thought about it since - you description of the event is far beyond how it was or how i seen it. Perhaps i can rein in the comments and how they appear .

That conversation had continued from many many months - mainly from last October where SOM thought i should act in a certain way cos i was a United supporter (becasue i wanted Drogba to score last year for my FPL team) ...so its not so serious nor was it as you seen it.

Again i think your reading far too much into it. If SOM feels bad about it im not prob apologizing. Maybe it appeared more serious than it was. For that im sorry if it did come across that way.

            SOM?

On the topics thing - i dont post anything for a reaction. Honestly its just to raise awareness, gauge public opinion and interest. Not for some trolling offense etc. I dont know how this relates to if you told me to sod off.

I still think you are but it not *you*. 😛 Its what accepted as normal for a fan so you dont see it that way. (as a sheep)

Its normal human psychology. Its why people who are normal law abiding people become maniacs in groups - they accept and enforce the behaviors of the groups.

Im merely saying (and i know its not normal due to this pervasive group thinking ) that you can be identified as member of this group - a fan of united yet not accept the behaviours - disklike certain teams etc

In fact Eric defending you very much falls under this group dynamic.

Anyway i didnt see it as serious SOM. As you say its the internet. Not that serious nor can you really define a person properly here.

The 'blind' was referring to Soup's reasons for disliking, or whatever, City. You, to me, seemed to characterize his basis as no more than groupthink without any evidence from him to justify it - beyond that he doesn't live in Manchester.

Definitely wasn't no one cares, that's nonsense.

You can't compare the Evans tackle to the Davies one anyway. The Evans one was 50/50 ish, Davies came lunging in from behind, Cleverley didn't even see him or he could have jumped to ease the blow slightly.

Also, Davies then could have broken Evra's ankle 10 minutes later. Look at the fouls committed by each team in the Bolton V Utd game and try to justify Coyles comments. Davies even set out to play rough, he said as much in the media before hand, shocking stuff imo.

the way you're brushing off the evans tackle is pretty poor even for your standards AP. both were fouls, both caused injury. the evans one being far more dangerous caused the worse injury. davies' tackle was poor and his evra one too, that's what happens when big clumsy strikers go for tackles, it's not malicious it's oafy. the angle of the tackle was poor but at least he stayed grounded which cannot be said for evans who flew in off the ground and at full force and predictably caused a bad injury. the foul was rightly deemed a red card as it's a way of protecting players, 50-50 element is irrelevent. if one goes in fairly whilst the other goes in with a dangerously then that's not acceptable.
what would make you defend this http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=k-ukejBoHBk#t=22s hmmm something to do with a red shirt i imagine.

I tell my children, my *children*, that people can only perceive what messages you present to the world - not who you "really are"

Perhaps you could have a think about that and answer your own question.

The absolute and unassailable certainty that your perspective is the only correct one.

It's the thing that leads to totalitarianism, atrocity, and oppression.

Your moral clarity doesn't encourage debate - it stifles it.

Lastly, your feeling that only you can rise above 'groupthink' whilst everyone else is mired in it is maddening. As is the concept that if you don't bring serious topics to the table that the rest of us dunces will never have considered them.

But dont you think its presumptive and arrogant to assume that people dont discuss such things because they dont post it on here? It's not really the place people come for a serious discussion unrelated to football.
If the majority of content on here seems to be light-hearted and inconsequential it could be to do with the nature and purpose of this site.

Indeed Attila. DB, do you remember when you tried to suggest i supported the american republican party because of my views on Rooney? Laughable. You should really find a place to vent your political and social views somewhere else more relevant. Or talk about them with people face to face, like most people do. A football forum isn't the place.

OH im not saying people dont talk about these things

Theres a wide variety of interests and backgrounds here so of course such things are common in life.

But my point was the majority here dont based on generally public interest and for many my intention is merely to post a video - no debate for them to learn or see things different

Its as far away from arrogance as possible. In fact i find the arrogance many times on other side when people think i post thinks - which have oceans of evidence behind them say its wrong. If you get my idea.

I know many get bored etc but then dont have to read - reaching a few minds is worth it.

Nani > Mata for this week as my free transfer?

If united do score big fantasy wise, then I can see points going to Young and/or Rooney. Does that justify it?

How does this team selection look for this weekend. If Santon doesn't play, Brunt will come on.

    Krul (AVL-a)
    Santon(SWA-a) Woodgate(SUN-a) Brown(STO-h) Ward(QPR-h)
    Walcott(BLA-a) Nasri(FUL-a) Young(CHE-h)
    Dzeko(FUL-a) Rooney(c)(CHE-h) Adebayor(LIV-h)

    Bench: Vorm(WBA-h), Brunt(SWA-a) Dyer(WBA-h) Bosingwa(MUN-a)

    Thanks.

Cheers! It allows a lot of rotation, which is a blessing and a curse. If newcastle concede and and swansea don't i'll be gutted. And if sunderland-stoke doesn't end 0-0 i'll be annoyed!

Personally, I wouldn't put a Tottenham defender in my team ever. I would rather play Brunt if he is going to start but you could play Dyer if you need to. Apart from that, team looks good. Risk Rooney (C) though. Then again risks do pay off sometimes!

Good call on Young vs Chelsea. He's (hopefully) going to do some damage. Bosingwa can't defend and Ivan is a big slow oaf.

I have a free transfer. I was going to save it for after the weekend, but Bosingwa will be on the bench and kompany will get a clean sheet against fulham.

There are two players called Frei in the Basel side, Alexander and Fabien. They each scored once, Fabien from open play and then Alexander scored a penalty towards the end.
