The last-minute August transfer window move to QPR seems to have offered Shaun Wright-Phillips a new lease of life. The winger cut a forlorn figure on the periphery of Roberto Mancini’s title-challenging Man City but, plucked from his Etihad Stadium nightmare by Neil Warnock, Wright-Phillips has been handed the chance to resurrect his career. Under the guidance of a manager with complete faith in his abilities, he is already making an impact at Loftus Road.

Rooney RVP (c) Dzeko
subs: Krul, Jarvis, Brown, Ward
Two questions. Firstly, Petrov (ars) or Jarvis (liv) this week? And Walcott to Mata for a 4 point hit?!Open Controls-
Petrov Playing well and Arsenal pos still leaky, and not imo for a hit.

Being at the Bridge on Saturday really shouldn't cloud my judgement, but it is. Still don't think I'll go ahead with it though, I'm a changed man, no point hits so far this season!
Not exactly working mind. 😉Open Controls-
I don't understand - you do want Mata because you'll be watching him live? Walcott is a turd, but he'll probably score massively this week after being so bad the last game at the library.

Walcott's ankles + legs against this tough tackling Bolton team. Yikes.

Personally, I think the first "footrace" between Kevin Davies and Per Mertasacker will be the highlight...could be one of those where the ref is first to the ball..

Petrov's 3 assists came against Man City and Liverpool so i have no problem playing him against Arsenal, seems to be in better form than Jarvis too.
I'm pondering a Walcott > Mata for a 4pter also but may get Nani instead as he has Norwich next week and is also in better form.Open Controls-
Good point. Seems the consensus is Petrov, which is what I expected.
Walcott > Mata, or not, is going to torture my mind for the rest of the week.... Arghhh!! 😀Open Controls-
I wouldnt do it, Mata up against a decent Swansea defence, Walcott up against Robinson at home.
Open Controls-
Will Walcott even play though with Gervinho back?
I'd hate not to take the hit to then see a teamsheet on Saturday with Theo on the bench 🙁Open Controls

You and me both. The added complication for me is that if I do the Walcott>Mata I havent enough for RVP>Rooney next week. Which is perhaps swinging it to Walcott. But.... but... I prefer Mata longterm. And if I dont get him in this time, theres going to have to be a hit at some point to get him in.

I have a similar situation. Ideally I want Ben Arfa, but not sure if it's too soon for him right now. Otherwise, I think Jarvis is probably a better option than Cabaye.

I can't quite understand why I keep thinking that Nasri to Silva for -4...and then captain Silva over Mata is a good move. Can anyone explain why I'm thinking this all the time...a sign from the gods or have I lost my mind here?
Surely taking a knock for a player who you plan to captain and stands a good chance at scoring is a good choice...but then there is the fact that Nasri hasn't really done anything bad...and it is a sideways shift (MC to MC)...please help guys...Open Controls -
playing the wildcard this week:
Al-Habsi - Vorm
R Taylor - Bosingwa - Kompany - Jose Enrique - Simpson
Silva - Sinclair - SWP - Moses - Barton
Dzeko - Rooney - RVP
is this squad too heavy up front? maybe go with a cheap fwd to get VDV, Young or Nani in the middle for barton?
thanks for any input, folksOpen Controls-
Not sure about Moses and Al-Habsi, and Ryan Taylor's place will be massively under threat the moment that Santon is fit.

Open Controls-
okay, thinking Rtaylor > de Laet, Moses > VDV, Barton > Dyer, RVP > Suarez. that puts me .3 over at the moment
Open Controls-
Dzeko > Adebayor would do it, bringing it to this:
de Laet – Bosingwa – Kompany – Jose Enrique – Simpson
Silva – Sinclair – SWP – VDV – Dyer
Adebayor – Rooney – Suarez
with 0.3 in the bank.Open Controls-
de laet was dropped last game and might not regain his place - Taylor for swansea might be safer for home games

If Sturridge starts again this weekend it's going to be impossible leaving him out. 6m striker at Chelsea with Mata providing assists is bargain central.
Open Controls-
This is annoyingly true. Despite all the starts I'm not sure that AVB is at all convinced with him though. Being substituted against Leverkusen and United, when in both games we needed goals, doesn't exactly bode well for the future. A lot depends on what happens with Lampard to be honest.. If Mata is moved back into the central midfield three, then Sturridge virtually has to play, with him and Anelka out wide. If not then I'd rather Mata and Anelka over Sturridge every day of the week.
Open Controls -
Who do you squeeze him in for though? I can't take any of my strikers out. Might just go without Chels attacking coverage.
Open Controls -
He won't start evey game though. I see him as being a little like Hernandez was last season, he'll have good spells but then find himself on the bench at annoying times too.

Why don't free transfers keep adding up?
I have 2 free transfers this week but not sure i want to use any of them. Seems a waste though.
Might do Brunt to Barton or Murphy just to use it up. Worth it?Open Controls -
Bramble anyone? I am looking for a sub for Hughes ... Y or N ?
Open Controls-
brown better choice
Open Controls -
why not. I've Sunderland's Brown...he's fairly reliable too. Sunderland I think rotate nicely with Newcastle still...but may need to get some confirmation from the boys in the lab for that one.
If I were you though I'd consider a swansea defender...they seem to be doing the business at home. I'm considering that mr rangel chap myself when the time comes to shift baines pts into midfield.Open Controls -

If Fat Frank and Drogs are both off the pitch whos next up for penos at Chelski? Anelka can take one can't he? I know Mata took them for the Spanish U21s but that's just wishful thinking surely? Torres isn't a penalty taker and never has been right?
Open Controls-
If Torres was made to take a penalty right now, I think he would crawl into a ball and start crying.
Open Controls-
My flatmate last year tried to convince me that they'd give Torres penos just to give him a confidence boost.
Open Controls
-
-
-
anelka then mata
Open Controls -
Yup, can't see it being Torres. Can't remember ever seeing him take a penalty.
To be honest, I'm not sure of the answer. Anelka has taken some incredibly casual penalties in his time at Chelsea, mostly successfully although obviously with one noticeable exception.
There's no guarantee that Lampard won't continue to be a Chelsea starter though, but if he is benched for a while, then whoever does take over the penalties responsibility will become a great FPL option. Penalties made Lampard worth 12/13 million for the last couple of seasons, so whoever takes over from him should do very well, especially as they'll be much cheaper than him.Open Controls-
Yeah I know chances are Lamps will still likely be a starter but as he legs get older I imagine he'll be withdrawn at 60-70 mins more frequently so there may be times that others will step up.

Very tempted by young Wright Philips, but am still convinced Taarabt might just start producing returns having hit the bar a few times now, and with his threat indicator being quite high, and I also reckon people will start going for SWP and Barton in the next 3-4 weeks dropping Taarabt and ignoring him in the transfer market, he is on pens, as soon as he gets one, or any type of a goal, the bandwagon starts again! Just my view of course.
My team for this is week:
Hennessey or Vorm
Bosginwa//Enrique//Simpson//Warnock
Taarabt//Young//Arteta
RVP//Rooney(C)//Adebayor
Dyer//Jarvis//DeLaetOpen Controls-
I'm still keeping taarabt. loved him 3 bonus points the other week
Open Controls-
i went with barton before he went to qpr. suffered with him out on the bench for 1 week but since, nothing but class.
Open Controls-
If I had a choice, I would certainly go with Barton or SWP, but at this stage, I am happy to keep Taarabt, his stats show that he is threatening, he is suffering a little with the expectations tagged on him from the start of the season, like Sinclair and his pen last weekend, I think the first goal could be all he needs to kick on, but we always say that, so who knows!
Open Controls-
Likewise, Johnny. He's bound to do a Sinclair sometime soon, but till then it's a classic damned if you do, damned if you don't scenario.
Those SWP stats sound incredible, but they're based on a pretty small data sample.
Taarabt is an excellent football player!Open Controls

Have 2 free transfers
Thinking of doing
Van Persie, Nasri, Dzecko > Aguero, Silva, Adeboyour
Stupid move? Im not really happy about it, but i doubt ill have another chance as wildcard is already played and Aguero/Silva seem more nailed on than Nasri/ Dzecko for the long term.
I just know that if i do it RVP, Nasri and Dzecko will all score big this week after doing nothing the last 2Open Controls-
I wouldn't take RVP out, but the other 2 make sense if you have nothing else to do.
Open Controls -
I would say there is no need to do the Dzeko -> Adebayor switch for the hit (unless you need to lose a City player).
In that case I would contemplate downgrading Nasri to keep RvP and do Dzeko -> Aguero
OR
Keep Nasri this GW, and do that sub next week.
Overall, I just don't see the point of a 4 point hit with those subs, when you can just roll one over to next week.Open Controls-
I need to do the Dzeko - Adeboyour hit so i have enough money for the other 2 and also becuase i already have 3 city players
Open Controls-
RvP -> Aguero frees up 0.7
Nasri -> Silva costs 0.3
So no, you don't need to free the cash, but I figured the free up City players was important.Open Controls

I'm so applying for this job in a couple of years.
A bachelor's student in your 3rd or 4th year, or in your master's studies. Your field of study must involve a lot of mathematics (economics, physics, computer engineering or similar). In addition we expect you to have proven already, that you are hardworking and intelligent by having obtained numerous A grades.
Check. Well, in a couple of years time.
You are a TRUE football geek. Everybody loves football so holding a season ticket, playing football yourself, or having subscriptions to sports magazines won’t qualify you.
We want to see something extraordinary in order for you to be considered with this profile; Perhaps you have created your own football blog?; Perhaps you collect your own football statistics?; Perhaps you’ve written your master thesis in an exciting topic relating to football?
Check.Open Controls-
I'd do that job. Only my maths knowledge isn't quite up there with the level they want.

My fantasy football expertise would probably be enough to get the job on it's own. 8)

About the only job application where you could put down "Won Fantasy football scout head to head second division league" as a legitimate qualification.
