The main talking points in today’s round of games from a Fantasy perspective centre on Wayne Rooney and Fernando Torres.

Rooney’s stunning start to the season has meant he’s been a captaincy favourite for many and even a testing trip to Stoke this evening would have undeterred many Fantasy managers from handing the United man the armband.

His exclusion from the Britannia clash due to a slight hamstring strain will, therefore, bring the vice captaincy rule into play for many and with a home match against Norwich next weekend, plenty will be sweating over his fitness.

Rooney is the top-owned player in the Fantasy Premier League (FPL) game- he’s included in 50.2% of teams- but has already brought words of reassurance via his twitter stream, suggesting he should be fit for the midweek Champions League game against Basle:

Gutted I’m missing game today. Hopefully ok for Tuesday. Tough game v Stoke. Hopefully 3 points. Berba 1st goal I think.

To add to Sir Alex Ferguson’s worries, Javier Hernandez has limped out of the Stoke game within the first five minutes, meaning the champions are currently taking on Stoke with their Carling Cup strike pairing of and Dimitar Berbatov and Michael Owen.

Over at Stamford Bridge, it was something of a case of déjà vu for Fernando Torres this afternoon at Stamford Bridge. Similar to last weekend in the 3-1 defeat at Old Trafford, the Spaniard grabbed a goal but it was what followed that will, once again, overshadow his contribution to the Chelsea cause.

Against Man United last Sunday, Torres’ brilliant clipped finish past compatriot David De Gea suggested a return to the El Nino of old but his subsequent open goal miss was the one abiding memory.

Today saw Torres grab the Blues opener and set about Swansea with an impressive relish until his enthusiasm got the better of him. A rash two-footed challenge on Swansea’s Mark Gower means Torres will miss Chelsea’s next three games, just as he was beginning to silence the doubters.

With the fourth round of the Carling Cup commencing in the week beginning 24th October, Torres’ ban will be restricted to league fixtures, leaving him sidelined for (bol, EVE, qpr).

Paul Is certain he won't make the same mistakes next season. Follow them on Twitter

A few thoughts about Arse v Bol today. Bolton looked toothless and all theor players were anonumous. Petrov did not shine at all although this is to be expected looking at the result.

RVP was good, if a little lazy at times. Per Mert looked the part as did Arteta who impressed me greatly (I do have him) with vision and runs with the ball. I would just like to see him play higher up.

Arse's defence is still suspect with Gibbs having to try and deal with 2 players on more than one occasion. Against a better side they would have conceded.

I'm still convinced about Ramsey... lots of action little output.

Gerv may mature into a great player but isn't one yet.

No. He played deeper but made some very impressive dibbles/runs forward and had some beautiful passes. He impressed me more than anyone (at the Emirates)today. I think he needs to be given a little more freedom and/or gain confidence so he can take over the Cesc role properly.

Arteta's a concern for me at the price. A couple of million more and we're in VDV, Nani and Silva territory. I'll have to watch MOTD tonight to see how far forward he got.

Is he worth keeping Steve in fantasy terms?

He could be a Modric at the mo, but look how he's doing right now. If you haven't got that extra 2 mill for a Nani Arteta looks ok to me although RVP bossed the set pieces which detracts a fair bit.

The Schwarzer Vorm has been awesome. 1 goal conceded so far.

Anyway, I'm loading up on Utd coverage for the Nor game. Any objections to bring Nani in for -4. Sess out. My first and, hopefully my last, hit of the season.

I just need 1 more Real Madrid goal for my -2 bet. Christ, they make it difficult on themselves. I'm delighted Barca have had the beating of them for the past few seasons, they really are the most dislikeable group of players ever assembled, especially if they don't get 1 more f**king goal!!!

Maybe it doesn't go to anyone?

What on earth has happened to Chelsea's CS? Last year, Alex and Cole were points machines. Despite his assist, Cole has been the biggest waste of money in my team. He's out tonight to facilitate Nani's arrival.

Alex looks like he's disapeared off the face of the earth.

Anyone know what happens to your non-playing Cap'n in Metro? Rules state that he is replaced by auto sub and I'm not too sure though if this sub is the new Cap'n? A bit vague:

"Whichever player is selected as captain at the start of each Match Week will be your point scoring captain for the remainder of that Match Week, unless he is automatically substituted."
