On the back of today’s draw at Stoke, reports suggest Wayne Rooney may be sidelined β€œfor a few weeksβ€œ according to quotes attributed to Sir Alex Ferguson.

“Rooney’s is not a serious injury, but it was enough to keep him out today, and I think maybe for a few weeks.”

While we await further confirmation on the prognosis, the news will come as a bitter blow to the 50.1% of Fantasy managers that currently own the Man United striker. Rooney has been subject to nearly 350K transfers-in over the last four Gameweeks as he racks up the points with ridiculous ease and has rocketed in price to 12.5 in Fantasy Premier League (FPL).

With Norwich rolling up to Old Trafford, Rooney would be a nailed-on cert for captaincy in the showdown with Paul Lambert’s side and with Javier Hernandez also limping out of today’s Britannia clash, the likes of Danny Welbeck, Dimitar Berbatov and Michael Owen will be vying for starting positions as Fergie’s side looking to get back to winning ways.

If the news is confirmed, many may turn to the likes of Robin Van Persie- the Arsenal skipper finally began to offer Fantasy returns this afternoon with a brace against Bolton and the 3 bonus points surely set to follow. With just 5.4% of owners, the Dutchman would be a viable “differential” and has a favourable run of fixtures ahead. As does 11.3 Sergio Aguero, though the Man City forward is already owned by 39.7% of Fantasy managers in comparison.

We will follow up on this as soon as we hear any more; hopefully the next twenty-four hours will offer further clarification.

Paul Is certain he won't make the same mistakes next season. Follow them on Twitter

Got him already mata to Nani is an option but with MU fixtures hoping no MU coverage won't hurt too badly for next 3 game weeks. Common Norwich defense πŸ™‚

Young is even more expensive lol. Think Nani is the better bet on past few game weeks form just can't afford it without downgrading cabaye and taking a hit to do that not sure is worthwhile. Although if Walcott doesn't play, 2 points from dyer or Taylor or zero from deleat could mean 8 point hit was a good move

Yeah he is very expensive and I am not gonna go out of my way to get either for 1 GW.(Which I might regret) Dyer is playable dough with the fixtures they have coming up. Never do a 8pt hit unless there is a double GW r smthn

Yeah probably the sensible thing. Although if I'm going to do 8 pointer makes sense to do it for Nani at Norwich and with all the away games captain him to maximize likelihood of earnin that back. ben afa might also make me more points than cabaye

Oh well i have some margin so consider it over the week

Contemplating very similar but no arsenal coverage with their fixtures seems crazy. Took RVP instead of Agerro relying on Silva there as Arsenal don't seem to have any worthwhile mids with Walcott injured

IF Norwich give away PK again on Monday AND you already have A.Young in team, wouldn't it be very good reason to keep A.Young vs. Norwich?

Which United FW would you take a gamble to select for that week ?

Chico .. will he get back from injury ?
Berbatov .. time to explode another 5 goals ? πŸ˜€
Owen .. steadily scoring, but some risks for him not starting ?

if the rooney stuff blows over, sure. Really panicking on that one...I dont like any replacements. Drogba maybe? Even that only works if I downsize Mata or someone to get him back later. Big problems, there.

I also love the army of rotating miniatures in the back. It's a fun team. Suarez and RVP scoring hurt a lot, but I like this team.

    Arteta & Sturridge > 6ish mid & Aguero?

    Worth 4 pt hit?

Who would you pick for the midfielder? There's plenty of options, looking at Murphy/Larsson/Cabaye/Barton/SWP/Petrov.

Might wait out the last two fixtures this week, see who brings home the points.

Yes, it's better to hold RVP > Ade and keep playing RVP.

Those two teams scored loads in this derby and I think RVP could be on scoresheet as same as Ade. You need Ade to score 1 more goal than RVP just to get equal points.

Aguero I doubt: if the pattern holds up, it should be milner, balotelli, and kompany. SWhich is crap, of course, because silva and aguero were brilliant.

Bale was fine, so I think maybe 2. Ade doesnt deserve anything, but maybe he could get 1.

Rooney out is pretty much certain for me, even if he misses just 1 week he will drop in price because of the knee jerkers (inlcuding me) transferring out, just needa figure out who is a better 3-4 week punt, Drogba or Aguero.

I just bought him in for Dyer partly because of fixtures. But also because Moses has a very high shot count for a midfielder of his price and with 6/11 on target so far. 6 on target is really good for anyone under 8m.

In fact before this week, Taarabt was the only midfielder with more shots on target than Moses and under 8m πŸ˜‰

So you might be able to upgrade him, but I very much doubt you can get better at his price and considering the fixtures. I would keep him ^.^

That stat of shots on target is the main reason i've been keeping him this far.

I really thought that he would do something this week. He ever earned a place of Big Dunc differential list. But .. he ended up nothing again.

i have no plan to get him out yet.. πŸ™‚

Is it me or are prices moving quicker this year? Has the fpl changed something? Barton .1 rise over night even without playing yesterday?

I used to wait to the Saturday morning to pull the trigger - to alow for rotation and injury but Im Now doing it straight after motd. Consistent players come at a prices this year.

I wonder if this will afect traffic to this site during the week

There's a big risk but could pay off very well for the 1st transfer. If you believe Rooney will be out of Norwich game and Drogba will return, it's the best transfer.. imo

If my info not wrong, Valencia has been recently played in RB role. Last night, his average position was lower than half-line and rarely near Stoke goal. Anyway, he still managed for 1 cross and 1 key pass. I dunno if SAF will do any rotation that would benefit his chance.

Arteta has played 3/4 in a 'holding' role for Arsenal which is definitely a little concerning
He's nailing a lot of key passes but then so did Nasri (with Arsenal) and only got 1 assist last year o.0

Ramsey has played 2/3 in the midfield 3 (once in holding) whilst Arteta has been around. (the extra fixture for Arteta in holding was vs Dortmund)

So to sum it up I think he'll do well enough but when it comes to comparing with Nani/Young they definitely look more like the money/points πŸ˜‰

Valencia was playing RB, are you sure you want someone playing in a backward OOP? I don't see him ousting Nani or Young for significant gametime based on current form

Drogba is a gambit worth punting on if you got the faith. He has something to prove πŸ˜‰
Sturridge is a nice alternative option worth considering tho ^.^
