Injuries

On the back of today’s draw at Stoke, reports suggest Wayne Rooney may be sidelined “for a few weeks“ according to quotes attributed to Sir Alex Ferguson.

“Rooney’s is not a serious injury, but it was enough to keep him out today, and I think maybe for a few weeks.”

While we await further confirmation on the prognosis, the news will come as a bitter blow to the 50.1% of Fantasy managers that currently own the Man United striker. Rooney has been subject to nearly 350K transfers-in over the last four Gameweeks as he racks up the points with ridiculous ease and has rocketed in price to 12.5 in Fantasy Premier League (FPL).

With Norwich rolling up to Old Trafford, Rooney would be a nailed-on cert for captaincy in the showdown with Paul Lambert’s side and with Javier Hernandez also limping out of today’s Britannia clash, the likes of Danny Welbeck, Dimitar Berbatov and Michael Owen will be vying for starting positions as Fergie’s side looking to get back to winning ways.

If the news is confirmed, many may turn to the likes of Robin Van Persie- the Arsenal skipper finally began to offer Fantasy returns this afternoon with a brace against Bolton and the 3 bonus points surely set to follow. With just 5.4% of owners, the Dutchman would be a viable “differential” and has a favourable run of fixtures ahead. As does 11.3 Sergio Aguero, though the Man City forward is already owned by 39.7% of Fantasy managers in comparison.

We will follow up on this as soon as we hear any more; hopefully the next twenty-four hours will offer further clarification.

    Why take out Rooney?

Let's say he misses the Norwich game, well after that its the International break.

He won't be released to play for England so he'll have 2 weeks to recover and no PL games in between. Essentially he now has 3 weeks to recover and only needs to miss 1 PL game.

For the price it'll cost to take him out and get him back again it doesn't seem worth it to me.

The worst case scenario for Rooney sellers is that he recovers in time to play against Norwich.

Im going to Aguero for a few weeks.
Rooney will drop alot by GW8, whereas Aguero will rise heaps and has a pathetic Blackburn.

        Have Aguero already.

Rooney may drop a lot but I still had him from GW1 and selling him now only makes me £0.2 up on the deal. He'll prob be £12.2m when I want him back anyway.

If it was long term injury then I'd sell but the reality is that he may only miss 1 Premier League game. Or none.

How on earth would he fall to 0.3 in a week when he's 50% in the green?

You will lose team value. I hope you have some funds in the bank to buy him back when he's more likely than not priced at 12.4.

              He could easily drop .3
7500 transferred him OUT since 4-10 this morning.

Unless I sell him and then want to buy him back though his value going up or down is irrelevant.

Unless I hear that he's out for 6-8 weeks then no point selling in my opinion.

What happens to all those people panic selling him today if on Friday SAF says Rooney is fit to face Norwich?

Like I said above, if its a couple of weeks injury then he only misses the Norwich game and then has a fortnight to recover.

I expect the people transferring him out already are the early knee jerkers who make panic moves at 4.55pm GMT on a Saturday afternoon depending on what the scores are.

The fixtures after the Norwich game can both be very low scoring. So if its confirmed that hell miss Norwich, I think im getting rid.

      agree

selling him, only to get him back shortly after is not a sensible move.

Having dropped points yesterday it really wouldnt surprise me if Rooney makes the Norwich game. Obviously this is based on what we know now.

I am waiting for more conrete news before doing anything, especially with his possible replacements involved in mid-week games.

Anyone watching the rugby? If Scotland win this they'll be going with England to the next round.

Then again they'll be playing New Zealand while we clash with France.

See above, I'm keeping and benching (if necessary) too.

I've got a free transfer to spend before I WC after next GW so may get Welbeck in for Suarez, who was going when I wildcarded anyway and I could see him getting sent off against Everton next week.

You can predict red cards now lol?

Welbeck will be good for 1 or 2 gw's until Rooney and Chicharito are both fit.

Jones seems like a great choice you're right.

I hope Barton and SWP go goal mad today.

        What's your predictions?

I didn't say Suarez will get sent off, just that I could see that happening because it'll be a feisty local derby and if things aren't going his way then he can't keep his mouth shut or stop himself doing something silly.

The parlous state of my funds means that its not really worth me taking out a player that already is playing anyway so Suarez isn't really going anywhere this week.

If we can keep Gabby quiet then I fancy a 2-0 to QPR. Taarbs pen and DJ. Otherwise 2-1 hoops. Think their midfield is going to struggle against Faurlin, Barton, Taarabt and SWP and QPR will want their first home win of the season.

Probably be the day that Villa defence plays out of their skins now then!!!!

      Silva,Sess,Sinclair,
      Suarez,Roo,Dzeko.

      Subs: Moses,De Laet,Surman.(2 freebies,0.9 in bank)

What transfers should I do this week?:

      A) Rooney->Aguero,Dzeko->Ade(or Welbeck to have some Utd. cover)

      B) Rooney->Ade,Sess->Nani

      C) Rooney->Welbeck,Moses->Nani.

Scotland will regret that drop goal. If you've already got an easy penalty and playing advantage, surely you've got to look for the try.

They've gone for it a couple times; suggests to me they're not very confident in breaking the Argentine defence.

Looks like they will indeed regret it though. Secures England's pole position at least.

Another reason for not selling rooney and getting nani is that i feel one attacking option from each team is plenty as there are not always enough attacking points to go round.
UTD rooney ,chico, nani, young - got rooney

city any 1 of six got silva

arsenal any 1 of four walcott gervinho arteta RVP -got RVP

spurs any 1 of VDV defoe bale ade - got ade

so if i got nani in i would only have to sell shortly down the line to get my number 1 preference in ,just the way im going this year and explaining why the pig is going on the bench and people like VDV,arteta, aguero are unlikely to feature for me......

I think 2 options from the top attacking teams > Man UTD and Man City. Often in games Rooney and Young or Nani both score high, same with City's Aguero and Silva.

I agree though on no more than one from L'pool, Arsenal, Chelsea, Spurs down....

saying that, I'm a hypocrite I've got Barton and SWP, then again they're my cheap options.

Finances come into play now though.

Those that wildcarded after GW3 enjoyed lower prices on Man C and Man U attacking players so were able to stock up on them and get Adebayor at £8m.

Now a lot of those players have risen by at least £0.3m so it now becomes harder to get in 2 City and 2 Utd outfielders.

I may have to accept that Rooney is the only Utd attacking player I can afford. Same with Aguero although may get Silva too when I WC as he is money every week. Nani has to cope with Valencia's return at some point.

May well not have any Arsenal or Chelsea either at this rate!!!!

I wonder if some managers deliberately take players off 56-59 mins. 🙂 No that's too silly. I got to 430,000 last week which has been an improvment 😕 Likely to lose two H2H this week as rivals capt RVP.
