On the back of today’s draw at Stoke, reports suggest Wayne Rooney may be sidelined “for a few weeks“ according to quotes attributed to Sir Alex Ferguson.

“Rooney’s is not a serious injury, but it was enough to keep him out today, and I think maybe for a few weeks.”

While we await further confirmation on the prognosis, the news will come as a bitter blow to the 50.1% of Fantasy managers that currently own the Man United striker. Rooney has been subject to nearly 350K transfers-in over the last four Gameweeks as he racks up the points with ridiculous ease and has rocketed in price to 12.5 in Fantasy Premier League (FPL).

With Norwich rolling up to Old Trafford, Rooney would be a nailed-on cert for captaincy in the showdown with Paul Lambert’s side and with Javier Hernandez also limping out of today’s Britannia clash, the likes of Danny Welbeck, Dimitar Berbatov and Michael Owen will be vying for starting positions as Fergie’s side looking to get back to winning ways.

If the news is confirmed, many may turn to the likes of Robin Van Persie- the Arsenal skipper finally began to offer Fantasy returns this afternoon with a brace against Bolton and the 3 bonus points surely set to follow. With just 5.4% of owners, the Dutchman would be a viable “differential” and has a favourable run of fixtures ahead. As does 11.3 Sergio Aguero, though the Man City forward is already owned by 39.7% of Fantasy managers in comparison.

We will follow up on this as soon as we hear any more; hopefully the next twenty-four hours will offer further clarification.

      Rotation is perfectly possible, but with Rooney out against Norwich you'd have to assume SAF wouldn't rest Nani (!?)
      
      I'd be tempted to do what you suggest as a short term solution-Norwich at home-even without Rooney-is very juicy.

        Yeah i just think it's too good a fixture to not take advantage of, even if it means losing a bit of money on Rooney.
        I fancied Drogba as a good differential against Bolton aswell now that Torres is out and Sturridge is only just recovering form injury...can feel it in me bones!

thanks triggerlips, i was thinking of bringing suarez back for those two fixtures. Based on that would ye guys do suarez to sturridge and dzeko to aguero. Aguero has started every game since his debut so he looks most likely to start, will sturridge get game time in torres absence?

didnt get any feed back from my last post so i transfered suarez-sturridge and upgraded dzeko to aguero on instinct, hope it pays off! sturridge should start the next 3 games with torres suspended! at least i hope so. or am i convincing myself-thoughts on sturridge plz

Am I the only one who considers suarez playing United as an easy fixture as they are not very solid defensively and Suarez did a number on their top defenders last year.

  He seemed to favor his leg, went gently to ground, sat there a minute, then limped off with the trainers. I'd say he's out for two weeks or three years. Hope this helps. lol

        Nope he isn't due one in the short term, it's the fact that Jones and Nani are going up in price that is forcing me to move. The Dzeko > Ade transfer was purely to free up some funds to get in the United men.

I just realised I can make my team look rather good with all the trades I need to do. I think I'll prioritise it like this:
1. Walcott->Nani
2. Dzeko->Suarez
3. Rooney->Aguero
4. Baines->Boswingwa

Or is that all a bunch of knee jerks?
