Not surprisingly, there are more reports on the Wayne Rooney injury surfacing this morning, following on from last night’s claims that the United striker would face several weeks on the sidelines.

United have themselves reported a direct quote from Alex Ferguson on the matter, stressing that Rooney’s setback is only a minor hamstring complaint…

“It’s difficult to say [how long Rooney will be out for]. It’s not a serious hamstring injury but I don’t think he’ll be available for next week. I think he’ll be out for more than a week.”

Ferguson’s comment suggests that Rooney will miss the Champions League tie with Basle on Tuesday, in addition to the home league clash with Norwich next weekend. That would be a major concern for Fantasy managers.

Rooney himself meanwhile, is more optimistic on his chances of making a quick recovery. He delivered his own prognosis via his official Twitter channel…

“Gutted I’m missing game today. Hopefully ok for Tuesday…”

Presumably more details on Rooney’s hamstring will surface on Monday, in preparation for the European tie. For now, there will be many Fantasy managers reserving their judgement and transfers, until more details are known.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

Morning gents - cheap midfield is only sporadically bringing the points so might wildcard. Here's the squad:

    Vorm/Given
    Jones/Simpson/Bosingwa/Senderos/Ward
    Larsson/Sinclair/Dyer/SWP/Nasri
    RVP/Rooney/Suarez

Aguero, Silva, Kompany, Nani (nothing original) all should be included; and Senderos has to go to. Ronney might also have to make way. Would you WC or not?

What's the story with Torres' red card, I read it will be a 3 domestic league ban? Does that mean a ban only on EPL?

A very strong possibility but Sturridge is also in the equation if, as it was stated last week, his injury would only keep him out for one game.

too deep. I'd prefer Ramires to be honest - not just saying that because he scored twice yesterday, he does actually play further forward

It probably was a one off. Doubt he'll score 2 in a game again this season.

But he's a cheap way into a team with great fixtures, he gets forward a fair bit and seems in decent form.

I'm doing Dzeko to Aguero and Mata to Ramires this week probably.

Most probably, as much as he's pissing me off at the moment. I got him in the first place as he rotates brilliantly with Jarvis - I guess that hasn't changed though neither are doing much right now.

Agreed. Unless he's been deployed differently by AVB from previous teams it was likely a one off. His record is 21 goals in 136 games, hardly prolific. Now watch him do the same next week!

Yes also disagree. . United have too many options at times, stoke away is. tough one. ..I think it was never going to be a utd goalfest, to say utd are a one man team just because they didn't win in rooneys absence is silly. It was a good point for them. . Rooney gets a little holiday. . Happy days. .fergie knows it.

            1st was Ramseys.
3rd - Sagna crossed, it took a slight touch of Ramsey's knee and fell to song so under the new rules, it's Ramsey's assist.

He should get Bonus points aswell, he was very good yesterday.

            Hmm

I don't think it's that bad tbh, as goalkeepers get save points to make up for lack of bps, which defenders wouldn't get.

            Still a low number though

Rooney to Aguero done for 4 point hit

It means i have a nice amount to slightly upgrade 2 of my budget defenders 1 after week 7 and 1 after week 8

And if one of my 3 strikers RVP Aguero or Suarez are rotated it allows me to revert to 3-5-2 or 4-4-2 and because of good strength in depth it wont be a big issue for me.

Dzeko is probably in line for some more rotation and Dunne is the best place to find funds for upgrading him.

Drogs looks to have the best fixtures for that money.

    1) anderson - not cutting it for me, i know hes a cheap option into man u midfield but he doesnt really do much fpl scoring wise, anyone else you would advise at 6 mill?

2)i brought cabaye in for newcastle coverage in the hope a goal or assist is on the cards, now i havent watched many newcastle games, how has he been doing? and is he on corners/freekicks/pens at all?

What do you guys think of this team?
    Mignolet/Vorm
    Taylor, Woodgate, Berra, Simpson, Brown
Nani, Arteta, Van der Vaart, Mata, Silva
    Suarez, Best, Adebayor

I feel like I've covered all of the big teams this season with players decent enough to get in among the points if their team scores big. Defence is slighlty weak but I do have 5 players who do feature in their teamsheets all the time so I can rotate them around to always play against the 3 easiest fixtures. Only worry is Arteta might not be as valuable as an Arsenal cover in comparison to Walcott. Thanks for the help!

Maybe too much investment in midfield - you'd have to play 5 mids each week right?

As shown yesterday, the weak defences didn't do too well (0 clean sheets from your defenders).

Arteta is fine for Arsenal coverage.

Where do you reckon I should spend more on? I'm guessing you're going to say defence XD Only thing is Arteta is a lot more likely to get 2 assists as an average priced midfielder and score big than a mid price defender getting both a clean sheet and assist such as Samba. That's the only reason I've gone against spending on my defence but what's your opinion on that philosophy?

Great post Cabbage, my thinking also...
I can see Valencia getting gametime as he's only just back, Young/Nani have had little rest or rotation.
I can see more of a fringe squad playing Norwich.
      Park, Giggs etc

Well he likes Park and Giggs for Europe as Park doesn't stop running and Giggs' experience.

Do you think? I would expect more of the second string to feature against Basel. Fergie loves to go with Park, Valencia et al on european nights, he already did it against Benfica didn't he?

Also, having dropped points at Stoke this weekend Utd will definately want to get back to winning ways against Norwich before the international break and with Rooney potentially missing the match surely he will go with Nani and Young?

I have got one of those weak, want-to-wildcard moments: cheap midfield is only sporadically bringing the points so might wildcard. Here’s the squad:

    Vorm/Given
    Jones/Simpson/Bosingwa/Senderos/Ward
    Larsson/Sinclair/Dyer/SWP/Nasri
    RVP/Rooney/Suarez

Aguero, Silva, Kompany, Nani (nothing original) all should be included; and Senderos has to go to. Rooney might also have to make way. Would you WC or not?

The Nani/Young issue painfully reminds me of the Silva/Nasri debate. Got Nasri in after the Spurs game and he's done very little. Not having Silva/Aguero is costing me big time.

If Rooney doesn't play next week I'll have to draft ibn one of Nani or Young also.
