Our UEFA Fantasy Champions League endeavours have pulled around the corner once more. We’re back and looking to ascertain which players might help our European Fantasy managers in their tilt at a title with some continental flavour.

What follows are the latest motley crew to get the Fantasy Football Scout backing ahead of Matchday Two…

He’d won two Champions League titles at the age of 21; quite some pedigree. Given his position as goalkeeper, this is an even more impressive feat. With more years and experience under his belt it’s hard not to be tempted by Real Madrid captain Iker Casillas this Matchday.

A fair amount cheaper will be the 4.5 forked out for Bernd Leno of Leverkusen at home to Genk.

Phil Jones has made light work of his transition to the red side of Manchester after a summer move from Blackburn and with United still shorn of defensive options, his price of just 5.5 makes him seem something of a bargain at home to FC Basel tonight.

The new “recovered balls” bonus in this game will take more than one Matchday to get to grips with. Nevertheless, we’ll bite on the early data. Bakary Kone topped the charts last time round and, playing host to Dinamo Zagreb, joins our watchlist as a result.

After bringing AC Milan to your attention last week, we feel compelled to bring Thiago Silva along as the first of a few Rossoneri selected this Matchday.

When we’re plumping for 4.0 bargain players it’s nice to have names that you’ll recognise. Defender Marek Cech (ex West Brom) of Trabzonspor hosting Lille this weekend meets this criteria.

I have to start our midfield off with him and I’m not even going to apologise about it. Alberto Aquilani gets a bear hug from this scribe and offers plenty of mid-price potential against the champions of the Czech Republic this coming Matchday.

With Wayne Rooney ruled out of Man United’s Champions League tie with FC Basel this evening, we’ll just have to settle for Nani instead. If you can really call it settling.

Over in Germany, Frank Ribery has been enjoying a prolific start to the season with 5 assists, 3 goals and a lot of plaudits coming his way. The visit of a Manchester City side with a new attacking verve should mean he’ll hope to continue in this rich vein of form as Jupp Heynckes’ side try to make the most of the space left behind.

A pair of French-based midfielders are next to get the Scout call-up. Set-piece king Michel Bastos -with a home tie against Zagreb- and the daringly cheap Mathieu Valbuena (but playing for a Marseille side in a major slump right now) are here to offer our choices some Gallic flair.

After also shining the spotlight on Napoli last week we’d be hard pressed to not include at least one of their squad. Edinson Cavani is scoring goals for fun right now and upcoming opponents Villarreal have been in a bit of slumber this season to date. We’ll be hoping these two facts marry perfectly when they meet.

After a thirty minute goalscoring substitute appearance at the weekend, Karim Benzema will be ready to rock and roll around the Bernabeu tonight. With a whole host of Galacticos in support, I wouldn’t bet against the Frenchman. Cristiano Ronaldo is clearly an even better bet if you can afford the hefty price-tag.

Zlatan Ibrahimovic is still injured and now Alexandre Pato has ruled himself out of affairs, too. When first announced we shared sentiments that Milan may regret leaving Pippo Inzaghi out of their squad but this now cements Antonio Cassano, a mere 7.5, in the starting line-up.

We pick up one more duty free option from our ferry hop to France before we head home. Bafe Gomis is stowed away in the boot as European Fantasy managers look to get squiffy on his 7.0 ahead of an evening of merriment.

If you are looking for someone a little cheaper to fill that final spot then Andre Schurrle of Leverkusen, at just 6.0, might make a handy budget purchase. Having served a domestic suspension the young man will fresh as the Germans welcome their opponents Genk over from Belgium.

Please note that deadline for your UEFA Fantasy Champions League team selection will be at the earlier time of 17:45 CET (16:45 GMT) today. This is due to CSKA Moscow hosting Inter Milan before all the remaining Tuesday games kick off later this evening.

    Thoughts:

    Given
    Boswinga - Enrique - W. Brown
    Silva - Nani - VDV - SWP
    Aguero - Adebayor - Agbonlahor

(Simpson - Tiote - De Laet)

WC team at the moment although still need to work on subs - Simpson OK but DL and Tiote will prob change. 0.7 in bank.

True but I'm trying to look long term and I reckon both have big potential - Adebayor's looking good and we all know what VDV is capable of after last season

I am doing exactly this - it's a reasonable punt - Spurs for once are looking good and I quite like the two of them as a bit of a differential.

Cant really argue with that mate except that spurs have got Arsenal...great for you if you ar confident about their chances otherwise maybe have one of them and transfer the other at a later time when they've got more favourable fixtures....saying that though Arsenal have been shocking so you never know.

Also Tiote is hardly a Fantasy Football player, unlikely to get you many points.

Thanks Guys - re. Tiote - 3rd highest MF under 5.2 - not too bad!!! Still, won't last and I'm fully aware there's a red card on the horizon - as I mentioned above, I will prob be changing him.

Ward is not only no longer OOP, but strongly hinting he's not worth 4.7 or however much he is on the basis of one goal.

He might still be OOP but he was only played up front because Fletcher AND EBB were injured and Mick wanted to play 442.

That's not to say he won't still play as a left sided mid in some games with Elokobi as LB.

        Still not worth 4.7 though!

    1. Adebayor & Petrov leaving me with no united cover this GW
    2. Jarvis & Welbeck
    3. Hernandez & ferguson I know i hate ferguson too and dont agree with the logic, but im WC'n in GW11.

        1. is the best option...but have you considered Anderson as man utd cover? Is that doable for you? Its exactly the kind of game where he or giggs are going to do well.

I've all of sudden fallen out of love with my team:
Arteta (playing deeper than i hoped - Ramsey the better option?)
O'Hara (urgggh - thanks for nothing)
Surman (glad i picked him over Dyer at the start of the season..!)
Moses (would maybe keep due to lack of other options!)

No Nani, Young, Silva (with all my money tied up in an Ageuro, Rooney, Suarez front line)
WC time? Was hoping not to use it but not really sure what to do. (cant really raise money from defence as happy with Kompany, Bos, Enrique + 2x4m)

Hello lads, every year I get bored of fantasy football even at this early stage but this season I’ve been buoyed by my horrible start and I’m extremely determined to reverse my fortunes in order to beat my mates. Here’s my team which I played in the Gameweek just gone:

    Given (Vorm)

Jose Enrique – A Cole – Kompany (Ward – Brown)

    Sinclair – Moses – Silva – Cabaye – Sessegnon

Aguero – Holt – Van Persie

2 Million in Bank & Wildcard available.

Yes, I realise that Cole should be downgraded to Bosingwa and Holt, Sess and Moses are all deadweight but I feel that I need to get some United attcking cover especially this week. What do you guys reckon? Help would be MASSIVELY appreciated!

With City and Pool around the corner Fergie won't risk them - it's only Norwich at home (sorry Norwich fans!) and Berba, Welbeck and Owen can handle things

He's already said Hernandez will be fine for Sat, and if Rooney is fit he'll play. It's that simple really. Liverpool and City games are weeks and weeks away.

I hadn't heard that - still I would be v.v. surprised to see Rooney included on Saturday - especially with international on the way - any excuse for SAF to make Rooney miss the England game so he's ready for Liverpool away. That leaves Hernandez as #1 starter - and I reckon Berba will start ahead of Welbeck, simply because Welbeck has just come back from a muscle injury

I cant believe you have metrsecker given how bad Arsenal have been at the back.

Saying that I try to make it a rule not to take points hit for defenders.

Option 1 and get rid of Metrsecker!

so is berbatov the main captain choice this week then???

as ive seen on so many posts ppl dont wana transfer rooney out as its only for 1 week, BUT i remember last year i was running away with the league and a rival took berbatov in and captained him for 1 week and he got straight back up the table!!! due 2 him scoring 5 goals!

is he a good punt to take in if rooney is out????????????????

The problem is you will just be transferring him out again, it's putting a lot of trust in him getting a lot of points, I personally think welbeck is more likely to score more but thats just my opinion.

Carry out the required transfers confirm your choices.....THEN you will see the option to change your transfers/Make your transfers and get deducted points or activate wildcard. Then carry out as many transfers as you like for the remainder of the GW.
