Dirk Kuyt vows to win back his starting place, while Alan Pardew heaps praise on his strike force. Paul Lambert names an unchanged lineup and is rewarded with another three points as Norwich climb to ninth ahead of a trip to Old Trafford. Jack Wilshere is likely to be out till February, while Alan Tate tries an oxygen chamber to mend his broken leg. Here’s some quick Scribbles ahead of a busy day, folks:

Swansea defender Alan Tate doesn’t do things in half measures. Having broken his leg in a golf buggy accident, the twenty-nine year old has now turned to using an oxygen tank in order to speed up the healing process. Tate was initially expected to be out till Christmas but is hoping to return sooner:

“I go into the chamber three times a week for an hour. I’ve done 10 sessions and the results so far say it is helping and speeding up my progression.”

Dirk Kuyt has vowed to fight for his place in the Liverpool XI after becoming something of a peripheral figure of late. The Dutchman has started three league game this season and his team have been victorious on two of those occasions but despite a start and a goal in last week’s Carling Cup match at Brighton, Kuyt has seen just twenty minutes game time since gameweek 4.

Alan Pardew has been singing the praises of strike pair Demba Ba and Leon Best. The duo linked up brilliantly as Ba fired a hat-trick past Blackburn last weekend and with Hatem Ben Arfa nearing his return to a first-team league start, the Newcastle boss set a challenge for the in-form strikers ahead of this weekend:

Him (Ba) and Besty had as good a game as a pairing as any other strikers since I have been at this club. There is huge pressure to deliver at this club and they both delivered against Blackburn. Now they have to deliver at Wolves next week.

Jack Wilshere could be out of action until late February. That’s the prognosis after the Arsenal midfielder had an operation on his problematic ankle injury, with a statement on the Gunners website yesterday saying he’ll be sidelined for four or five months. Good news for Fantasy owners of Aaron Ramsey, then, with the Welshman likely to be the main beneficiary, with Mikel Arteta sitting deeper alongside Alex Song.

Reports this morning suggest Theo Walcott is due to miss out on Arsenal’s Champions League clash with Olympiakos tomorrow and may be a doubt for Sunday’s match with Spurs, though Arsenal have yet to make any official statement on the matter.

Paul Lambert fielded an unchanged starting XI for yesterday’s visit of Sunderland. Having tinkered so dramatically in Norwich’s first few games, consistency of selection proved key last night as the Canaries picked up their second win in succession. Bad news for Fantasy owners of Ritchie De Laet and Grant Holt, then, with both missing out once again. Holt did appear in a brief thirteen minute sub appearance, while De Laet stayed benched and will miss the weekend match with Man United due to the loan arrangement with his parent club.

Sunderland conceded their first goals with John O’Shea in the side last night. The Irishman’s previous two league appearances had produced clean sheets but the Black Cats were a shadow of the team that had hammered Stoke 4-0 the previous week and O‘Shea was not a happy man after the defeat:

We couldn’t get in behind Norwich and put them under pressure, whereas they managed to do that and fair play to them. We played a lot in front of their back four, rather than getting in behind and that’s something we’re going to have to work on.

Paul Is certain he won't make the same mistakes next season. Follow them on Twitter

I had similar problem Kuqi Monster. Had Vorm and N.Taylor(5th cheapie) therefore doubling up on Swans defence. S.Taylor for Newcastle is a season keeper for me and meant I definately didn't want another defensive double up which ruled Krul out.

I decided to go with Hennessey as he and Vorm rotate pretty much as well as any other combo I could see. Wolves have gone off the boil a bit recently but with R.Johnson &co in there I can still see some clean sheets on the horizon. Fixtures are reasonable and Hennessey does seem to clock up a fair few saves.

I also had Given but got tired of Villa letting the odd goal in, especially when having Given at £5m meant I was leaving Vorm on the bench most weeks and missing out on Vorm's points!

Why has nobody mentioned Begovic? Rotates perfectly with Given. It's been tempting to downgrade, but must resist, as that could easily be a successful season-long combo.

Rooneys price has still not dropped stuck at 12.5 meaning nobody has the balls to transfer him out. I would keep him as you won’t be able to get him back.

Yes but he is 12.5. Depending on when you signed him he shows up lower in your team at 12.3/12.2 etc. You will end up weakening your team and taking a points hit unless you use your Wild Card.

Keep an eye on http://www.fiso.co.uk/crackthecode.php bit more reliable this season than totalfpl. They do take place during the night/early morning, but no set time unlike last season.

Thanks, I am checking FISO and notice Nani shooting up the charts today. If he hits 100% I'll do the swap, even if the CL game isn't finished.....or maybe my nerve will hold till after the game....I also notice the changes tend to occur later, would be great if they provided a set time! 🙂

    Begovic

    Brown STaylor Bosingwa
    Larsson SWP Nani Silva
    Adebayor Aguero Agbonlahor

    Krul Enrique Kaboul Moses

I'm planning on transferring out Kaboul for BAE GW7, then Agbonlahor and SWP out for Suarez and a midfielder.

Traore is unlikely to start tonight. Deschamps favours Morel at LB.

If you're still looking to get him in, I think Nagatomo is the fall guy out of those you listed. He's no longer an OOP pick after Gasperini and his weird 3-4-3 were replaced by pragmatic Ranieri. Three out of Inter's next four are away in CL.

Fergie has no need to exagurate an injury on Rooney for the Norwich game to keep them "guessing". So his only motive would be so Rooney who is Englands only hope up front it seems to be rested in the international break. He wont be needed in the Norwich game as it is so easy for them to use squad rotation and play a decent side with Berbatov upfront partnering either Hernandez or Welback.

I think Ferguson is telling the truth that Rooney is out for a few weeks till the Liverpool game and he wont play. Whether or not Rooney is that injured is another question but doesnt even matter when selecting an FPL team.

Rooney out for me and the only thing that makes sense to keep him in is the team value balance - I would personally take a 4 point hit to get him back if needed and have money in the bank so not so crucial.

Replace with Drogba or RVP depending on how they are tomorrow night me thinks

How does this team look guys?
    Vorm
    Collins Baines Brown
    Moses Sess Sinclair Mata
    Dzeko Roo RVP
Subs - Given, Simpson, Eagles, De Laet
    FT = 2 Bank = 0.1

    A) Assuming Roo returns in GW8 & I don't want to swap him, whom should I downgrade/upgrade? Eagles is def my priority to remove this week.

    B) If I decide to remove Roo, I'm thinking Roo > Agbonlahor; Eagles > Nani. Sound good?

I'm going to end up with no Man U cover for this week at this rate, which seems like suicide.
Trying to find a way to a way to get Nani in but there aren't any strikers I'd want in that sort of budget - if I could have Adebayor twice I would.
Hernandez is an option but I'm not sure he'll be as nailed on this year with an improved Wellbeck returning.
Anderson? Doubt he'll score much even if united do.
I guess I could be cheeky and do Rooney + Cabaye > Wellbeck + Nani and hope that pays off?

I think Welbeck will be sharing out the time with other forwards but he's class on the pitch and could be worth while even for 45 mins. I think the priority lies in Nani, I can't get him in w/o taking hits so am not considering him but he could make a massive impact this week.

Yeah it's not so much favouring Wellbeck but it's just that he fitted the budgetary constraints. If I lose Taarabt instead of Cabaye I have 8.7 for a striker but already have Adebayor. Dzeko is an option I guess but worried about him being rotated.

Me too only have Rooney, don't want to use my wildcard and fuss about for one game week so going to sit it out. If I sell just him I won't be able to get him back as no funds in the tank and don't want to trade Saurez or RVP at the mo either. He might still play Fergie is a good bluffer! Not sure it'll be a cricket score anyway Norwich had a good result Monday so will be up for it and Utd play Basle tonight. 2/3-0 I reckon no biggie.

I am going strike force RVP, Messi and Cardozo

Is it dangerous to go without CR7? Cause he is valuable captain. But I believe that RVP can score big this game too and something is going on in RMadrid. They haven't scored a lot in the last 3 games.

    Thoughts?

    Cheers,

i think that everyone should have Messi and CR7 . They are the best scorers.

Yeah but it kinda ruins the rest of the team though, and there are a lot of other good options.

I've got Cardozo, Hulk and CR. It's a tough call choosing b/w Messi and CR. Either of them can score 3+ goals on any given day.
