Manchester City have tonight released a statement on their official website announcing the suspension of Carlos Tevez with immediate effect.

The ban is thought to last a fortnight and reads in full:

Manchester City can confirm that striker Carlos Tevez has been suspended until further notice for a maximum period of two weeks.

The player’s suspension is pending a full review into his alleged conduct during Tuesday evening’s 2-0 defeat to Bayern Munich.

The player will not be considered for selection or take part in training whilst the review is under way.

Clearly, the club’s owners are lending their full support behind Roberto Mancini after last night’s debacle in the Allianz Arena, where Tevez refused to participate in the game as a second half substitute.

As we reported last night, a visibly shaken and emotional Mancini emerged after the 2-0 defeat and upon speaking to reporters made his feeling crystal clear:

“If I have my way he will be out of the club. He’s finished with me…

For me it’s a bad situation. In a game like this it’s important for a player to help the team. This is impossible.”

Tonight’s statement certainly confirms Tevez will take no part in the weekend match at Blackburn but with a two week international break to follow, the club will likely have the matter resolved before the players return to domestic matters ahead of the home match with Aston Villa in gameweek eight.

The Fantasy prospects of Mario Balotelli will be boosted by the news- the Italian is likely to start at Ewood Park after Edin Dzeko’s strop and if the club subsequently stand by Mancini’s decision to do without the services of Tevez in the long-term, Balotelli -and, ironically Dzeko- look likely to earn more starts than previously anticipated, alongside Mancini’s star forward Sergio Aguero.

I'm not going to transfer out Rooney unless I feel like RVP is going to do a 10 pointer or more. Which I doubt for some reason.

Do the reports say rooney'll be back for Liverpool?

He'll defo be back for Liverpool, cos of the international break. I wouldn't at all shocked to see him make the Norwich game in a classic "Man Utd in sensational recovery" scenario.

Yea if SAF is resting him he will for sure be back for the Liverpool, Man city games as they are huge. But if SAF wants to put in a good show on saturday against Norwich to prove a point you may see rooney wondering onto the pitch... just depends on news tbh. He will defo be back for pool...

Ho certain do people feel Dzeko will be dropped?

In the inteview Mancini is responding to a question about Dzeko whining about the sub and he answers in quite a flippant exasperated way. I wonder if his reaction is multiplied by the Tevez situation-must be stressful. Now he is effectively down to three strikers until Jan he won't want to alienate anyone.

Also, Balotelli tends to play in the channels. Dzeko is a pointman. Swapping the two would prob require moving Silva inside and pushing Aguero on. That would be pretty significant. Or playing De Jong and releasing Toure through the middle, leaving Silva alone.

    What do we think?

Probably. I think he'll play some part and soon be back in though.

Ballotelli just isnt the sort of striker to lead the line and Mancini wants Aguero to have that free role.

Also, Dzeko's ability in the air to defend. Italian manager after all...

I think Mancini's had enough of the Egos and he is now gonna stamp his authority.
He wants Tevez out - bye bye Tevez
He will probably take the opportunity to stop this disease from spreading and bench Dzeko like he said he would, sent the message to the entire squad saying 'I'm the boss and i wont have you tossers costing me my job'
Balotelli and Aguero to start up front

        Have you seen the interview?

It's like he's saying 'well he can't moan about being subbed if hes on the bench can he'. He's raging. If dzeko gets up and makes an apology to the dressing room its something that can be managed.

Favourite is to be dropped, not completely sold though

Im sure Mancini had a similar thing last year, and responded with the classic, "it's good to see somebody unhappy to come off as it shows they care"?

          Did I imagine it?

I think too that Dzeko is perfect v Blackburn, so he may change his mind?

RVP - a sure starter when fit, on pens and some free kicks.

If you want City focus on their Mid and D, very little rotation risk compared to the strikers.

Choices for this week as I plan to wildcard during international break:

    A) Walcott to Mata
    B) Walcott to Nani & Brunt to Bannan for a 4 pointer (need cash)

Have Rooney but want Utd coverage for Sat.

Nobody is doubting that, but Walcott will get his chance - and with these contract negotiations going on, it wouldnt be bad to give him those chances. They can easily switch formations in the game and have him switch up his role. Nani has a good fixture coming up, but after that doesnt look great, not to mention if United dont tighten up in defense, Nani may be rotated alot more than expected. Is Nani the safer bet - yes, but those that already have him dont need to do anything, those that dont have him are chasing leads and Walcott can be a great differential (of course need to see before transfer deadline if he looks fit to start, but either way, to transfer him out now looks a little bit....ummm..kneejerky.

would you play dzeko this gw? surely a risk of 1 pointer again...

if i leave him on the bench, my other option is simpson
(since dyer will be subbed for rooney if he stays injured and delaet is injured+can't play against man u anyway)

would you sub him out for a 4 pointer and who would you sub him to? no cash in the bank and my other two strikers are rooney and ade

piece of advice - only take a hit if it involves bringing in a player that you will captain. An low risk high scoring player with a great fixture and the armband is the only time you should take a hit - or if you cant field 11 players and even in that case never take a hit for a defender. So if you want dzeko out, it would make sense(and yet be risky) to put in balotelli and give him the armband.

good advice, though i think balotelli is a risk in the long run will have to trans out at some point, he's an erratic sort of player...what do u think of the 8 point hitter from rooney + dzeko > aguero + suarez...will i ever be able to make those 8 points back?

with roon+ dzeko it's a case of 1 point with dzeko + my sub which is simpson destined for 2 points (A) to wolves...therefore i need to make at least 11 points from suarez + aguero to make it worth it...i think that is a risk worth taking...a goal each and boom good business right?

Not to make it worth it - rather to break even. I also think simpson has a bettr than 50% chance of getting the cleanie this week. You have your points though, its just risky imo. Some weeks, the best point scorers are the ones that dont take the hits. Many people taking hits this week. I personally think its going to be a low scoring week for the big guns. Maybee a better defensive week for top clubs, but not scoring.

hmm not too sure i mean chelski away to a leaky bolton, liv away to a weak everton with a player with arguably higher quality than the whole of their squad bar baines...man u home to leaky norwich...

low scoring week for big guns in rooney maybe, but there will be goals i can just feel it...and i don't think they will come from rooney (inj) and djeko (rotation) imho

much more likely to come from aguero (quality) suarez (quality that everyone has somehow forgot due to being extremely unlucky in the last few gws)

8pt hit better than playing short if you are buying players for the medium to long term. 8pt hit for 1 or 2 week players is generally not worth the risk imo.

and that's why aguero + suarez are for the long run don't you think...however i will have to find i way to draw rooney back once he's fit. That's my biggest worry...i think i'll wait until fri to find out whether rooney will make the game against norwich and if his fitness improves

with an 8 point hit my team would look like this

            vorm (krul)

bos warnock ward (de laet simpson)

            cabaye young nani silva (nani)

            ade aguero suarez

the attacking potential is immense wouldn't you think and it will last in the long run...suarez has been unlucky i feel and also not having aguero will hurt me in the long run

I dont know honestly - all these guys coming off midweek games, nani seeing the least of it. Suarez away at Everton looks good potential, but the heat of the rivalry might bring out the biter in him and have him seen off for a red card. Young will be tired, bosingwa may be rested, i think this week will see some unlikely heros. Perhaps a Gerrard or Ben Arfa comeback game. This week is the least obvious of gameweeks, not a good time to take hits. In fact I will make sure I have 2 freebies for int'l break in case something happens. If you want a one week punt, balotelli is prob your best bet to give the armband.

i think ur right, what i learned from last season that if u can select 11 who are fit then generally hits are not worth it...

i know that i will want rooney when he;s back on form and i could easily replace young with say mata or similar to free up some small funds

2 gw tran in int does make sense, but i've used my 1 trans already so that won't happen...what do u think of my 8 point hit long term trans...i bet others are thinking about it too

i mean dzeko to play at least 60 mins? don't think so.

rooney to play at all? don't think so...

and when an injured man in form comes back, he may lose his form quickly

aguero in form and suarez in form, both nailed on for at least 60 and being the centrepieces of their respective teams just seems too tasty

Not to mention suarez has great games coming up and a Gerrard soon behind him. Aguero will always be Aguero so no worries there. Seems like you want to do it, so go for it, otherwise if they score well you will be mad for not doing it.

most probably...i would bet a high chance on that esp on a team like norwich....berb has a brain against these kinda teams and esp when rooney is out of favour...question is if ferg will want a lone striker in wellbeck, or having wellbeck and chicarito who looks fit and ready...tooooo risky...and you know your gonna have to trans out 2 weeks later lol

I'm a bit stumped here, could use some help. I think I might want to do the Walcott->Nani transfer today as Walcott is close to a drop. I have two free transfers and think I will keep Rooney, so my second transfer will be Dzeko out.

That leaves me with 8m in the bank to buy a striker, and I'm completely lost. Already have Odemwingie. Thoughts?

That's Dortmund's problem in a nutshell. It was never a 3-0 defeat tonight against Marseille, but without the unfit Barrios, BVB don't have anyone who can finish off their good approach work and stick the ball in the net. They looked a different team when Barrios came on with a quarter of an hour to go, but by then the damage was done. Kagawa is out of form and I'm baffled as to why Klopp persists with that clueless plodder Großkreutz in midfield ahead of Ivan Perišić.

I suspected that Dortmund might suffer in the Champions League this season due to a lack of experience, but it was the individual errors by Hummels (whom I rate very highly) and Kehl (whose lack of pace makes him a liability at this level) that cost them dearly tonight against OM.

    Which is the better transfer:

Dzeko --> Sturridge (0.1 in bank)
    or
Dzeko --> Di Santo (1.0 in bank)

I'm using this to fund an upgrade of De Leat --> Kompany

I'd also like to swap Nasri --> Mata but should I take a 4pt hit or wait a week? I don't have any other Man City coverage but I don't think I can afford Silva or Aguero and they're the only ones I'm interested in.

I saw yours above. Not sure I would do it for a hit. My worry is not being able to afford Rooney afterwards

true, but my worry is will rooney find his form when he's back? fixtures will toughen...liverpool and citeh.

u also need some aguero in ur life and suarez is a season keeper for shiz...most people will face it that they can't have aguero suarez and rooney...without having a really unbalanced team in your mid and back.

rooney is great, but maybe having nani in later will make up for the missing roonpig...

Rooney, Walcott, Dzeko --------> Aguero, Nani, Adebayor for -4

If anyone thinks those are bad transfers please tell.

Me. You will lose too much money on Rooney, imo.

If you sell for 12.2, he's at 12.5 now, if he doesn't play at the weekend, people will tranfser him out in droves, he could drop by 0.1, 0.2 maybe more.

The Rooney decision is absolutely killing me. Worst part of it is I need the money from the Rooney->Aguero move to fund the other two.

I vote for it, Nani is good cover and I think the new three will outscore the first three.
