Manchester City have tonight released a statement on their official website announcing the suspension of Carlos Tevez with immediate effect.

The ban is thought to last a fortnight and reads in full:

Manchester City can confirm that striker Carlos Tevez has been suspended until further notice for a maximum period of two weeks.

The player’s suspension is pending a full review into his alleged conduct during Tuesday evening’s 2-0 defeat to Bayern Munich.

The player will not be considered for selection or take part in training whilst the review is under way.

Clearly, the club’s owners are lending their full support behind Roberto Mancini after last night’s debacle in the Allianz Arena, where Tevez refused to participate in the game as a second half substitute.

As we reported last night, a visibly shaken and emotional Mancini emerged after the 2-0 defeat and upon speaking to reporters made his feeling crystal clear:

“If I have my way he will be out of the club. He’s finished with me…

For me it’s a bad situation. In a game like this it’s important for a player to help the team. This is impossible.”

Tonight’s statement certainly confirms Tevez will take no part in the weekend match at Blackburn but with a two week international break to follow, the club will likely have the matter resolved before the players return to domestic matters ahead of the home match with Aston Villa in gameweek eight.

The Fantasy prospects of Mario Balotelli will be boosted by the news- the Italian is likely to start at Ewood Park after Edin Dzeko’s strop and if the club subsequently stand by Mancini’s decision to do without the services of Tevez in the long-term, Balotelli -and, ironically Dzeko- look likely to earn more starts than previously anticipated, alongside Mancini’s star forward Sergio Aguero.

Paul Is certain he won't make the same mistakes next season. Follow them on Twitter

Looks all good. I'd play S.Taylor over Warnock though - don't have any faith in Villa's ability to keep a cleansheet.

Thinking Rooney to Welbeck and Brunt to Nani for this week only then getting Welbeck and Nani out for RvP and Walters next week. Both 4pt hits.

    Thoughts?

I'd consider Agbonlahor - a potential 150 point player for under 7 and you could either save the points and use them to bring Rooney back once fit or use it to upgrade your fourth midfielder.

      C by far.

Why burn a trade improving your bench? Assuming Rooney won't play (and everything I read says he won't play for 2 weeks) then Adebayor must outscore him and Nani should have some fun with Norwich so will likely outscore Sess.

Your only concern is with nothing in the bank you'll need to do a double trade to bring Rooney back when fit.

Yep Nani looks like he's a cert for me to bring in. Still not entirely convinced Adebayor is a good buy, plus i hate having 2 big forwards playing in the same game.

Sessegnon & Rooney -> Nani & Adebayor leaves me with 0.0m in the bank so i'll have to keep an eye on those price rises/falls

i already used my transfer this week.

Oh christ, just turned on you're on sky sports news and some ignoramous was spouting rubbish about Tevez.

Not only did she repeatedly call Dzeko "Dzekov", and she was saying 'because she wanted to see Tevez start Mancini let her down', 'when he was payed that much they deserve to start', she was at Napoli and 'Tevez was in a different class to Dzekov', and 'she understands where the conflict comes from'.

She ended her call with 'oh come on Tevez is amazing'.

Makes you despair for the sport when you have idiots like this following the game...

      Yes, I play Fifa.

I've had to create myself again on the Fifa--15 years younger.

After I finished creating myself, I signed for Arsenal

I'd keep Rooney if only out for 1.
Suarez to Aguero if you have the cash

Only .6 M in the bank and I already did my 2 free transfer 🙁
So it would be for a 4 pts hit if I take Rooney out.

I would cap Silva or Nani, and wait to see if Rooney plays weekend or is said to be fit...ish. You got him at 12 so .1 drop would cost nothing if you chose to drop him after that.

Cheers In Like Flynn, sorry I forget that I only have 1 free this week which I did 1 transfer already, Dzeko to Adebayor. I might sit with Rooney and take a chance on SAF playing him or I can just keep him during Int break. I think I'll go with Nani for captain. Thanks for your advice. 🙂
