Manchester City have tonight released a statement on their official website announcing the suspension of Carlos Tevez with immediate effect.

The ban is thought to last a fortnight and reads in full:

Manchester City can confirm that striker Carlos Tevez has been suspended until further notice for a maximum period of two weeks.

The player’s suspension is pending a full review into his alleged conduct during Tuesday evening’s 2-0 defeat to Bayern Munich.

The player will not be considered for selection or take part in training whilst the review is under way.

Clearly, the club’s owners are lending their full support behind Roberto Mancini after last night’s debacle in the Allianz Arena, where Tevez refused to participate in the game as a second half substitute.

As we reported last night, a visibly shaken and emotional Mancini emerged after the 2-0 defeat and upon speaking to reporters made his feeling crystal clear:

“If I have my way he will be out of the club. He’s finished with me…

For me it’s a bad situation. In a game like this it’s important for a player to help the team. This is impossible.”

Tonight’s statement certainly confirms Tevez will take no part in the weekend match at Blackburn but with a two week international break to follow, the club will likely have the matter resolved before the players return to domestic matters ahead of the home match with Aston Villa in gameweek eight.

The Fantasy prospects of Mario Balotelli will be boosted by the news- the Italian is likely to start at Ewood Park after Edin Dzeko’s strop and if the club subsequently stand by Mancini’s decision to do without the services of Tevez in the long-term, Balotelli -and, ironically Dzeko- look likely to earn more starts than previously anticipated, alongside Mancini’s star forward Sergio Aguero.

Needs to be done if players think they're god. Fergie does the same just not so public most of the time.

    Nani(c), Silva, Sessegnon, Sinclair
    RVP, Suarez, Dzeko

Not particularly - unless he goes nuts this week he's out next week. Only reason I'm keeping this week is for the decent fixture.

I think it's probably the % play. Saying that, what do you think to Sess & Dzeko -> Dyer & Hernandez? Have a feeling Utd could score heavily on Saturday and that would give me good coverage in Nani and Hernandez...

You have Nani, do you want little pea long term? three more difficult games after, will he score big in those? Ade's games look to me to have more long term appeal.

Danger with Mata imo is he seems to be assisting the assister, awful lot of money atm for four appearances 14pts. One impact goal against Norwich at home.

Agree with this. Preference would probably be Walcott & Woodgate. Arsenal have 4 easy games out of the next 5 after this w/e and Stoke look solid at the back. I think I'm down to Dzeko -> Adebayor or Agbonlahor this week...

I think he's coming good, getting forward more, having a decent amount of shots and at 7m not a bad punt at all to have as chelsea coverage.

On a side note folk seem to be drolling over Mata, hasn't convinced me yet anyway, particularly if you already have either Utd mid and either city mids with some nice fixtures coming up for VDV too!

yeah he seems to be getting forward a lot and taking plenty of shots. I need a mid for less than 7.8, leaning towards him atm.
Disagree about mata, I reckon he'll get loads of assists but as you say the other expensive players are doing more atm.

It's not that I think Mata is woeful or anything, just that I'll go for proven premiership over newbies,at least til I can see how they fair, I always think it takes most(not all now) but most foreign players a wee while to settle into the pace of the premiership.
I think his price-range and those who are in a similar price bracket put him lower down the list as a midfielder choice.

Ramiries seems to be (A) getting regular appearances, (B) playing quite well (C) improving each game and in confidence levels, he seems a better option as a chelsea mid.

He certainly looks a good prospect to me, quite a few on here say he won't keep up the form, but that may be just to stop people getting him. 😉 You know what some on here are like say one thing do the other. Cheap option into Chelsea attack I would have him instead of Mata.

What do you goys think about when to use wc? I think I'm quite safe in my mini league but just want to move up along with the world ranking. Should I keep my wc and as long as I keep the lead in my money league and take wc when closer to the end of season or when I might really need it? Or should I take this international break to adjust my team in order to put some boost to my team?

You're unlucky with your forward line mate.

This is the problem with buying fodder like Ferguson who never play.
      swap Roonpig for RVP,
      swap Dzeko for Barndoor
not sure if you've enough for Suarez here but him for gervihno(possibly)

Rooney and Dzeko to two of ADebayor, RVP, Aguero, Suarez. As you prefer. And get Ferguson the F*uk out to Tiote so you always have a proper playing bench and this is unlikely to happen again, I think you can kiss goodbye to this week's H2H unless your rival is pants. Sorry HerpaDerps best I can do without charging by the hour. 🙂

You can kiss goodbye to this weeks H2H,
You have 8 starters in your team, you say this week is important, you wanna keep rooney fine but if you want to put 11 players out you MUST take an 8pt hit.

          Oh and barndoor is Adebayor.

    a) Use 2 free transfers this week then wildcard next week during the internationals
    b) Save the wildcard and just do Dzeko -> Adebayor this week and then Sess & Dunne -> Ramires & Enrique next week
    c) Save the wildcard and just do Dzeko -> Agbonlahor this week and then Sess & Dunne -> Walcott & N Taylor next week

          fixtures vs form

Rooney is shared top player having played vs CHE, ARS and TOT in the first 6. Cant get much tougher.

Is it crazy to do Rooney to Aguero this week and switch back to Rooney when he confirm fit for a game or two? It would cost me 4 pts hit this week if I do that. I got Rooney for 12 M so there's not much lost in the market if I do that.

Time for the first hit of the season, how does this look for -4 pts?
    Rooney -> Aguerro
    Dzeko -> Adebayor
    Walcott -> Nani

I will also need to get rid of De Laet but not for another hit this week.

    morning gents,

midfield conundrum time again. i have:

Silva, Petrov.S, Jarvis, SWP, Walters and 0.7 in the bank.

    Jarvis > Ramires
    anyone > Anderson
    anyone > Ramsey

    or any other suggestions?

just 1 free and i'm edging towards Ramires (like a lot of people, i guess).

SWP > ARS midfielder in GW10 as they have a good run then (WBA, NOR, FUL, WIG)

Cant access the site from work, but clarification on the rules from someone would be appreciated- if I leave Rooney in and (c) him (hedging my bets) and (V) say Nani then IF Roonpig doesnt play, Nani will automatically pick up double his points right?? Dumb question I know but Im strategising - I fancy Norwich to take such a spanking this weekend.

      Selecting a Captain and a Vice-Captain

From your starting 11 you nominate a captain and a vice-captain. Your captain's score will be doubled.

If your captain plays 0 minutes in the Gameweek, the captain will be changed to the vice-captain.

If both captain and vice-captain play 0 minutes in a Gameweek, then no player's score will be doubled.

        so

        Vorm

        Enrique Bos Kompany

Young Mata Silva Sinclair Nani (v)

Rooney (c) Adebayor (Agbon 1st sub)

Any thoughts and yes I AM doubling up on Man UU in the middle I just think that is a really attack minded midfield full of goals and assists.

I have Rooney and Nani too so I'm also thinking about my captain...

                2 quick points..

1 Even if Rooney was fit, I'd be tempted to captain Nani ahead of him

2 As I've posted before..and its only opinion of course..I think its highly unlikely Rooney will play even if he is fit..Fergie simply does not need to risk him..United should win anyway at home to Norwich, Welbeck is in form, Hernandez could be back, Rooney can rest his troubled hamstring properly until the Liverpool game.

I'm keeping him in my 11 but captaining Nani and getting my VC elsewhere. Only opinion though. I'm not Fergie. He may decide Rooney is all-important for the Norwich game and risk him. But I just can't see it happening

As Fratboy says, very nice team you have! Good Luck!!

Should win anyway at home to Norwich. Like at home to Basel? If you saw Norwich away to Chelsea the result was in doubt until 5 mins to go. There'll be no goalfest for United without Rooney on Saturday.

Petrov does when mr Davies isn't on the field, I think klasnic may also be ahead but don't quote me on that, yes the other 2 are also on penalties. I would have taarabt and petrov, but maybe because I've been hurt by brunt 🙁

    Morning Gang

anybody have any news on the Rooney situation? Has he been training with the first team this week? A couple of the Man U forums seem to think he'll start on Saturday. Personally, if he isn't starting then I will transfer (Ageuro), even if it is just for one gameweek. For its always a case of trying to maximise points each and every gameweek and I'd rather someone like Ageuro playing for one week, than my most expensive player on the bench, even at the cost of two transfers, after all isn't that what transfers are for...to optimise point scoring?

Not just that - it's the difficulty you'll have getting him back in at 12.5. You will probably need a double hit.

More importantly, if you boot the Roonpig and he gets medieval with Norwich, then you'll probably be unable to sleep at night. 🙁

He will be 12.4 come end of the week (12.3 even if we get word he's out as so many people transfer Friday/Saturday) then he will have another 2 weeks of dropping if he doesn't play Norwich which is likely imo.

the Rooney issue does seem to be stressing people out but it's not dangerous for your team.

he probably won't play so sell him get someone else in who is nailed on.

then buy him back when he's available.

My post was a silly timing jest. If Rooney plays against Norwich (If I understand it right) he comes off flag and has protection which won't matter anyway cos if he plays people won't be selling him. If he doesn't play no protection as still flagged and a two week game gap so poss .3 drop on top of today/tomorrows. Phew!

looking at the fixtures, i'd say that it's 60/40 in favour of Spurs.

BUT, i'd pick Suarez anyway. when he's not scoring goals, he's picking up BP's.

Ive had Brunt since GW2 and hes done nothing but hit woodwork and make me sad. But jokes apart 🙂 The latter.

Nani's on a hotstreak and with those fixtures, so is Barndoh.

in the long run, i think rooney's the essential man utd coverage, for now, i'm considering the exact same 2 of ade n nani myself

yeh i would agree but with rooney being so important saf may rest him or take him off early in easier games considering how many decent options he has and the amount of games coming up...

i'm of the impression that rooney seldom get rested, he's just too full of energy! kinda like ronaldo when he was at man utd. think it has to do with the conditioning and natural fitness of the players. have u seen how sharp he is this season?

more often than not, he will be rested for the cup games completely.

yeh i say rested with a pinch of salt but you know what saf is like, he did it a few times last season.

Funny how we talk of conditioning and hes out with a hamstring problem after 4 weeks of the season!

now that u put it that way...

i think rvp will have a break though season

Long term Ade and Nani I believe will outscore Rooney and Brunt. Week on week will differ of course.

will u be swayed if we factor in the captaincy issues? rooney makes a legit cap almost every week, i'm sure many top scorers can attest to that

Nope, If Rooney makes a good captain week Nani is a fair shout, if not AS good. Ade is a far better one than Brunt imo. Obviously any real comparison will only work if all 4 stay fit and play. But if you're giving odds Rosti. 😉

Adebayor always starts well and then tails off as the season progresses. Rooney is consistent week in week out.

Nani was equally this good last season but that didn't stop Sir Alex from dropping him for Valencia.

Brunt probably not the best foil for Rooney, though, but there isn't a lot of standout performers in midfield in that price range right now.

Brought Drogba in this week as i couldn't quite stretch to Aguero when freeing up funds.Have done:
    Arteta->Nani
    Rooney->Drogba

Anyone else having a punt on the Drogster?
A tad concerned he still didn't get any gametime in the CL midweek...

Yes i had a bit of a good feeling about Drogba and went for it before i changed my mind!
Torres banned, Sturridge just back from injury (wasn't even on the bench in the CL game)
Chelsea need a target man, which Anelka isn't.....he has to play lol

I almost did, but i'm keeping Rooney. I think he might play and i've already taken a 4-point hit. Drogba should play and score on the weekend though.

Going to blockbuster at midnight tonight to buy FIFA12. Will simulate to this gameweek and WC the best players before Saturday. Simples.

In all seriousness I just wildcarded and have 8 players from the top 4 (and not too shabby subs). I am abit nervous/apprehensive to say the least...

Aren't we all...just as we think we have it nailed down the game decides to ruin everything...there's just no trusting the majority of players at this time...hot and cold...like a fever...a panic fever...good luck with the Fifa experiment...haha..
