All is forgiven after Edin Dzeko apologises to Roberto Mancini following his Tuesday strop in Munich. Charles N’Zogbia reveals his left wing frustration, while Kenny Dalglish is cautious on the fitness of his skipper with Everton in mind. Elsewhere, Stoke, Spurs and Fulham all grabbed wins in Europe for a good side for the Premier League in last night’s Europa League group matches:

Edin Dzeko has been forgiven by Roberto Mancini after his touchline tantrum in the Allianz Arena. The Carlos Tevez saga has undoubtedly overshadowed the Bosnian’s own show of petulance, with the City boss claiming post-match that Dzeko would be benched for this weekend’s trip to Blackburn. Dzeko has since apologised for the incident but whether he will stay in the starting lineup perhaps remains doubtful for this game- Mancini may want to take a strong stance over this and starting Dzeko could be perceived as backing down.

Harry Redknapp gave run outs to the likes of Jermain Defoe and Roman Pavlyuchenko and both were amongst the goals in Spurs’ 3-1 Europa League win over Shamrock Rovers last night. Aaron Lennon was also included but was subbed off at half time after his ongoing groin problem flared up and the winger will be assessed today ahead of Sunday’s game with Arsenal.

With Bobby Zamora and Moussa Dembele both left behind in London, Andrew Johnson made his mark as Fulham won 2-0 in Odense. Johnson has now scored six goals in nine Europa League appearances and Martin Jol admitted the forward may feature in his thinking for the weekend home game with QPR.

He hasn’t done it in the league but sometimes you have to give him the opportunities too. I’m 100% certain that if I start Andy he won’t let anyone down.

Tony Pulis fielded a near-full strength team for Stoke’s 2-1 home win over Besiktas. The Stoke boss saw Peter Crouch grab a goal for the second home game in a row and was full of praise for the former Spurs striker post-match:

His contribution to the cause so far has been fantastic. Apart from his influence up front, a major part of his game was the way he defended set plays. The crowd like him and will enjoy him. He never stopped working. His attitude was fantastic.

Kenny Dalglish has hinted he’s quite happy to continue easing Steven Gerrard back into match action. With the small matter of a game against Everton next up on the agenda tomorrow, Dalglish is determined not to be swayed by sentiment, with his skipper likely to make do with a place on the bench:

The Merseyside derby isn’t the most important thing – Steven Gerrard is. We will manage him as best we can, and that has always been our attitude.

Charles N’Zogbia has been speaking of his poor start to the season at Aston Villa. The winger-so often a strong Fantasy prospect over the last couple of season- reckons he’s being played in the wrong position by new boss Alex McLeish:

The last two seasons for me were great. I was playing on the right side, where I’m really confident, but now I’m playing more on the left. If you want to get the most of me, I can do more from the right. I can kill any left-back.

But I have to accept what the manager wants from me and do my best. I can be an exciting player – if you play me in the right position.

i'd think about shifting moses out for dyer? ferguson could do with replacing but i guess you need him to afford that frontline. honestly that team isnt going to do you very well, you need balance. if any of those front three have a poor week you're gonna be screwed cos the rest of your team isnt gonna make up for it...

You've got to laugh at all the Rooney conspiracies over the last week. SAF wants him out of the internationals! He's actually had a re-occurrence of his ankle injury! He's actually made out of mud and fox hair!

Reality: He had a tight hamstring that kept him out of 2 games, as was said all along. 🙄

Roon owners, pls calm down. We all know you will Rooney (c), but please lower your expectations; otherwise your anger for a Roon pointer tomorrow will match your abnormal morning enthousiasm.

PS. I really cant see Roon playing more than 30mins tomorrow. He just had one full training session in 1 week (todays training will be very light).

    De Gea - Vorm
    J.Enrique - Simpson - Taylor - Warnock - Bosingwa
    Nani - Sinclair - Ramsey - Walters - Bannan

I quite like it but I'd question whether Warnock is going to be worth the extra 0.5 over the likes of Woodgate/Senderos (although I currently have Warnock) and my personal preference would be for another big hitter in midfield and dropping one of the other 4 to a more benchable player like Dyer - I don't like having 6+ mil players on my bench every week.

Obviously getting that extra big hitter is tough when you've got DeGea in goal.

No I wouldn't have both I'd just have Dyer I think - I'm not sold on Bannan either but with De Gea in goal you won't be able to afford someone like Silva/Mata so perhaps Arteta over Ramsey if you can squeeze the money from somewhere. I always feel a bit more comfortable with 2 expensive-ish players in midfield because it tends to make future transfers much easier in the sense that you don't have to rejig the whole midfield.

Also wouldn't double on Swans defs. Get Gabbidon instead of Taylor.

You'd then have pretty much exactly the team I'd pick (although maybe someone else for Bannan).

Haven't looked at the fixtures, but for an emergency 5th def I'd rather have QPR than Norwich. Your other 4 defenders are decent so you need someone who could play at any time in an emergency, rather than a fixture rotater.

Either of these worth a 4 point hit (by the way, i've got Rooney and Silva)?

    a) Dzeko and Arteta > Ba and Nani
    b) Dzeko and Arteta > Walters and Aguero

    Or keep them both?

Dodes anyone know what happened to Ageuro being rested after the last international break? Clearly he wasn't, but why? He has two games in South America over the break (last one on the 10th) and I'm wondering in advance whetehr he'll be benched for Villa.

You think mancini will rest him for his international team? How long you been watching football?

You should read more carefully, how would Mancini resting him AFTER the internations benefit his national team?

How long have you been reading for?

    Re-post

    My team:

    Vorm (kenny)

    Saylor Bosingwa Ward enrique (Raylor)

    Young Dyer Silva (Moses Ferguson)

    Rooney RVP Aguero(c)

Any worthwhile changes to be made? I’ve been itching to drop enrique for most of the season

Impressive front line, only one I'd suggest is Young --> Nani but that's one which could easily come back to bite you so maybe not.
I'd save the free transfer if I were you 🙂

Any suggestions on which two to bench from these four players

    Defence:
    Simpson away at Wolves
    Enrique away at Everton
Senderos at home to QPR (not sure he'll start)

    Midfield:
    Moses away at Villa

    Given (Vorm)
Bosingwa, Kompany, Enrique, (Simpson, De Laet)
    Dyer, Tarrabt, Silva, Cabaye (Brunt)
    Rooney(C), Aguero(v), Adebayor

    2.6 in bank.

Do I work in Nani (for Tarrabt) for a 4pt hit by downgrading Bosingwa or Kompany?
