Gabby Agbonlahor’s goal and assist in Aston Villa’s win over Wigan yesterday laid down the gauntlet for his fellow low-priced Fantasy forwards and this afternoon saw three more players step up with some double figure returns.

Daniel Sturridge was first out the traps in Chelsea’s Reebok rout. When available, Sturridge has started every league game for Andre Villas-Boas’ side and further-cemented his place in his manager’s first-team thinking with two goals and an assist at old club Bolton.

Firing the Blues into the lead within two minutes, Sturridge added another goal and assist to put his side into a 3-0 lead before the half-hour mark and is already his side’s top-scoring Fantasy forward, despite appearing in just three games. Chelsea are clearly clicking under Villas-Boas and look full of goals right now, with a 5-1 final score perhaps even kind on the home side, such was their total dominance. At 6.5, the fortnight’s break will surely see his bandwagon pick up pace ahead of a gameweek eight home clash with Everton.

The three o’clock kick-off at Craven Cottage saw Andy Johnson continue the form that has seen him grab six goals in nine appearances on the European stage. Johnson-starting his first league game since gameweek two- helped end QPR’s unbeaten run as Martin Jol’s side picked up their first league win of the campaign in emphatic fashion.

Echoing Sturridge’s early goal, Johnson netted within a couple of minutes but went one step further than the Chelsea player with a hat-trick and assist in the 6-0 rout, though with his game time definitely less guaranteed, it’s fair to say that Fantasy suitors may be deterred. At 5.1, however, he’s presented a strong case as Fantasy managers’ cut-price striker option, though with Moussa Dembele and Bryan Ruiz vying for a place alongside Bobby Zamora, Johnson has plenty competition- if he can force his way into Jol’s starting eleven on a more permanent basis, Johnson looks ripe for investment.

Zamora returned to action after being sidelined with illness last week and again proved pivotal for Jol’s side. His goal and two assists may well have been overshadowed by Johnson’s display but the 6.7 FPL forward continued to show that, when fit, he offers a consistency that is often overlooked- currently, he’s owned by just 3% of Fantasy managers. Zamora has now appeared in four games for Fulham this season and has either scored, assisted or picked up bonus in every game.

Today’s (pre-bonus) twelve point return means Zamora has scored in his third game in a row and has returned three goals, three assists and four bonus in those four games. The gameweek eight Britannia clash may dent that record but it’s clear he’s looking a real solid performer under the guidance of Jol and if he can stay match-fit, looks like a real value for money option as the season unfolds.

I am against hits, but that hit looks good. Only thing that concerns me is that VDV is against the New defense and Young against Liv one. I believe Liv's one is worse and will concede for sure. I am gonna bring DVD the game after the New game, so the hit might not pay in the first GW. Young in the derby and VDV against Bla makes sense, that's why I will do, I trust in the New defense ATM and Tiote and Cabaye doing all the work in the mid, It won't be that easy for the TOt mid to overwhelm that game.

My next targets in mid are Ramsey now and VDV next GW, still need to decide on the striker: RVP, Aguero or Sturridge

Nice one Daniel. Very thoughtful comment.
Yeah, Newcastle defense has been solid this season, but it's really hard to deny all the VDV love, that's why I am planning for a hit.
Looking at your comment gives me support, at least somebody is with me of ignoring all the VDV love against Newcastle at the moment.

Is my defense okay for next few weeks? Any tweaks needed? Have 0.2 in bank after doing Taraabt to Ramsey.

In regard to Bos coming off early, does a defender still get the 4 points for a clean sheet if they are subbed before 60 minutes? I know Chelsea had already conceded, so it's a moot point in this case, but what is the rule for clean sheet points? And while I'm at it, if a defender comes off without a goal having been conceded on his watch, does he qualify for points if the team concedes after his departure? I'm thinking not? First year at this caper so take it easy on me... 😉

But think in another way round,if Bosingwa was substituted out at 65th minute with Chelsea concede on 70th minute, Bosingwa earns a free CS. 😛

Really? I've wondered about that but it just seems unlikely, can you ever get a CS when your team didn't?

I knew if you're sent off as a defender, you still lose points for every goal conceded with you off the pitch1

no no, i meant taking into account both players have played similar amount of games and doing the comparisons that way

i wouldnt be saying that about dzeko because he is in then out with rotation

you want a consistent performer, so thats why i prefer murphy

haha you've taken that out of context

im doing the comparison based on the fact they have both played 7 games each

I've planning this for a while... just wildcarded with the international break coming up. The chase for profit starts now! Absolute mayhem, I’ve tried to transfer in every bandwagoner going, while making sure I don’t transfer out a player I want to keep who is close to a rise.

    Today's carnage:
    Dyer > Lampard
    Suarez > Adebayor
    Aguero > Ba
    Best > Agbonlahor
    Brunt > Murphy
    Young > Bannan
    Senderos > N Taylor
    Kompany > Jose Enrique

    What's up gents,

Wildcarding it this week before price drops/raises come along...

Need feedback on the finishing touches.

    A) Adebayor, Ramires
    B) Sturridge, Modric or VDV.

I would say Sturridge + VDV, but Sturridge is protected for 4 more days which means his price can't change and I don't think they even register transfers in/out.

Go Adebayor / VDV if you can.

I can't do Ade + VDV...I want my team doubled with Chelsea and Tottenham because they have ridiculously favorable fixtures coming up. I just don't know who will yield more goals out of Sturridge, ADe, and VDV...I know I won't be getting clean sheet points with VDV in the middle, but Ramires should give me better coverage. So, drop Ade and Ramires, add Sturridge and VDV?? I'm gonna be pissed if Ade blows up for Spurs...

It's a tough call between Ade and Sturridge but I watched the latter today, he was totally on fire. It's probably the only time you'll get to play Sturridge with Torres out so it's now or never really. Whereas Ade will probably get gametime all season.

Agree with you trying to cover Chelsea and Spurs, that makes sense.

I watched it, actually. He played well, he's going into great form. He should have had a few goals were it not for Gunner's custodian Schizo (however you spell it) having some pretty miraculous saves.

Judging by your comments though, it is going to be a touch call between these two...I may stick with Ade just because Chelsea go bipolar up top sometimes and don't score as many goals as they (and we) think they should. Plus, VDV will get hurt soon and not be back until after transfer window's closed....

Ah yeah I forget Chesney (that's totally how you spell it) made some epic saves before that nasty late goal. Yeah Chelsea have been somewhat wasteful at times. But they are creating the chances.

How was Ade playing? As a target man, the main striker through which everything flowed? That's quite some mid Spurs have behind him, if that's the case I think I'll stick with him as Sturridge won't be in that position.

He was definitely the target man, although VDV and Ade switched things up between them on quite a few runs. I've decided... More bang for the buck is definitely Ade, Tottenham aren't known for clean sheets and I've already got Nani and Silva as hitmen in the middle. Finally going to doze off with some peace of mind now, thanks.

Ta. I have some familiarity with the transfer system but some long-running questions I wonder if you can answer. First, which day is treated as the first of a GW (when NTI targets are reset) - Saturday? Secondly, are NTI targets actually doubling this year when someone rises? Looking at the site in recent weeks I haven't seen the NTI targets changing even when someone rises.

Umm.. I'm not expert but these are what I understand.

1: I don't think NTI targets are reset every GW. On Fiso, NTI are reset each day to give us a sense of rise or fall for players today. Anyway, Sat 11:31 am should be considered the first minute of a GW.

2: Not always doubled. You could refer to Adebayor rise over last week. Target didn't change for each 0.1m

Cool. Yeah, Adebayor was the exact example that made me doubt the doubling - he only had to reach ~33k each time.

Regarding 1) I understand NTI _TARGETS_ are reset every GW. NTI itself like you say is not affected by GWs, it only is wiped at a price change or protection.

OK so I guess the GW is Saturday to Friday. What my questions were leading to was whether a particular situation that's possible in theory could still happen - if NTI targets are doubled, a player could rise once in a GW but not reach the second rise target because it's been doubled. If they were above the first rise target, when the NTI targets are reset on Saturday then they would immediately rise.

Feel free not to read all this, I'm probably posting in the wrong forum anyway...

    Vorm
Baines Collins Brown De Laet Simpson
    Nani Mata Sinclair Sess Moses
    Agbon RVP Dzeko
Bank = 0.9 FT = 1 (no hits so far)

I def want to do Baines > Enrique for 3 weeks. Been waiting for the MU match to get over, and he’s assisted twice in 2 games. Darn!

which one? worth a hit in these cases?
    A. Baines > Enrique, Dzeko > Roon, De Laet > Naylor, Sess > Murphy (-12)
    B. Baines > Enrique, Sess > Silva (-4)
    C. Baines > Enrique, Dzeko > Roon, Sess > Murphy (-8)

Well that'd be 1 GK, 1 DEF and 1 MID which I think is OK. Doubling/tripling up for me really matters if it's in the same position and defence in particular, because you're buggered if you lose the CS. Obviously if Swansea were doing crap you'd want to avoid this but they're not.

Given the prices you're working with Hilario - Krul and Moses - Ramsey sound like definite improvements. Mata is 9.5 so if you want cheaper I'd go for Arteta (set pieces) or Dempsey (threat). But Van der Vaart is only 9.7 so if you can I'd absolutely try to get him in.

I have Best and wouldn't recommend him. He's already overshadowed by Ba and not the same kind of goal threat. I have Suarez too and he's real quality, for me one of the top 5 Prem strikers, so try to keep onto him if you can. Obviously if you need to transfer him out to make your transfers work then I recommend other players around Best's price - A Johnson if he keeps playing, Di Santo, maybe Yakubu or Rochina.

State of Mourning here in Godsown: Carter out of the RWC; McCaw's foot; Warriors losing the League final; no able back up to Carter.

Onto FPL matters: how did we all do this weekend? Some big points hauls around with various individual players but are they in your team? 😕

I don't think anyone likes Manly tbh 😉

Warriors did well to make the final after the beating they got from the Doggies.

You have two weeks to transfer thanks to the international break so unless you're wildcarding, leave your transfer as late as possible. Rooney may get injured for England, Aguero may recover in time. At this moment in time, I'd say RVP.

Rooney if you're a fixtures guy.
Aguero if injury news concerns you.
RVP if player form is your safe spot.

Lol hence my indecision... think I might wait until the end of the international break and see what news brings..

I went with RVP. When you look at their points hauls, Aguero and Rooney are carving the FPL up, regardless of who they play. Rotation is the enemy not the opposition. 😉

Shipping RVP out this week is madness imo. 2 home bankers coming up! I'd either do nothing or offload the pig.

Problem with offloading the Roonpig is the small matter of buying him back again at 12.5 😕

Besides, RVP has hardly scored heavy this term.

Roonpig has already fallen to 12.4. You reckon his price will shoot back up to 12.5 over the break? *tries to avoid temptation to wish something goes wrong in his England match*

Personally I think you can do without pig until GW11. Then again I have been burned before.

Possibly Suarez too. Delivered in one of Liverpool's toughest matches of the season and dismantled Arsenal (no jokes now)

      hmmmm

      depends
if aguero is out long term then its a no brainer
but if he's ok, then maybe RVP, but Arsenal have some tasty fixtures coming up

Well not that you got in RVP you may as well keep him for the next 2 gameweeks.

Take out Aguero for Adebayor and then depending on if you have any pressing transfers later on, replace RVP with Aguero in a few weeks time

1 goal, 2 assists and 1 bp from the last 2 games would argue differently with you

Yeah, he got a goal today, fine, but I watched the match and he was one of the worst players on the pitch... he gave the ball away more times than I remember. Honestly, I think he should be benched by wenger for the next GW, but the lack of depth in his squad and the fact that he scored might prevent that.

I would bench Sinclair.. Swansea is for home only.

Moses vs BOL will be his last chance in my team.

usually id agree that swansea are home only, but the 3 away sides they have played were man city, arsenal and chelsea

but this week they are playing norwich away 🙂
