Gabby Agbonlahor has been speaking of the recent back problem that has seen the in-form Aston Villa forward play through the pain barrier in recent weeks.

A series of sensational displays have made light of the injury but, having ruled himself out of contention for a spot in this week’s England squad, Agbonlahor admitted he requires painkillers to alleviate the issue before every game and hopes to get the problem resolved before domestic action resumes in just under a fortnight’s time, with Villa’s unbeaten record on the line in a Gameweek eight trip to Man City. Subbed off four minutes before the end in Saturday’s game, he explained:

I’ve been suffering with pains in my lower back. I’ve got to go and see a back specialist in London on Tuesday…It’s been stopping me in games…I’ve still got the pain now and I’m on painkillers. Hopefully if this can sort it, I’ll be delighted- if I can get it sorted, I could be on fire…It comes and goes during the game and that’s why I came off because the pain was too much but I don’t want to moan about that.

Darren Bent may have been overshadowed by his team mate’s brilliant returns but has nothing but praise for Agbonlahor’s contribution, with Alex McLeish’s decision to team up the pair in a 4-4-2 currently reaping the rewards:

There were people who said me and Gabby couldn’t play together because we are too similar. But we complement each other well and give each other chances…Last season when I came I didn’t really play with Gabby upfront, he played wide left…At the start of this season the gaffer played him left. But it seems to be working well – the pair of us together – and hopefully it will continue.

A goal and assist –and subsequent three Fantasy Premier League (FPL) bonus points- in Aston Villa’s 2-0 home win over Wigan continued Agbonlahor’s revitalized displays under the guidance of new boss Alex McLeish on Saturday.

His total of 4 goals, 3 assists and 9 bonus points has already eclipsed last season’s respective tallies (3, 1, 0) under Gerard Houllier, with the 7.0 FPL-priced star third in the forward rankings, behind only Wayne Rooney and Sergio Aguero. Villa’s extra defensive resolve under Big Eck clearly suits Agbonlahor’s speed and direct play on the break and with (WBA, sun, NOR) to follow the Etihad game, plenty more Fantasy managers will be looking to invest, providing there’s a positive prognosis.

    Vorm
Baines Collins Brown De Laet Simpson
    Nani Mata Sinclair Sess Moses
    Agbon RVP Dzeko
Bank = 0.9 FT = 1 (no hits so far)

I def want to do Baines > Enrique for 3 weeks. Been waiting for the MU match to get over, and he’s assisted twice in 2 games. Darn!

which one? worth a hit in these cases?
    A. Baines > Enrique, Dzeko > Roon, De Laet > Naylor, Sess > Murphy (-12)
    B. Baines > Enrique, Sess > Silva (-4)
    C. Baines > Enrique, Dzeko > Roon, Sess > Murphy (-8)
    D. other.

Ahead of Bent? I suppose the prices make it worth having a look at the both of them but i can't ever see me going for Bongles ahead of Bent (assuming money is not an issue)

Only reason is the money, too much of a difference to ignore and he's got more passion to see the ball, whereas Bent sort of hangs around...

1 transfer...don't do the transfer you're thinking of imo. I'd just wait and see what happens for a week or so to be honest, but you need to strengthen that midfield asap.

Bosingwa's had 3 1-point games in the last 4 weeks. I started him every one 🙂 I'm new to Fantasy, and Chelsea seems like a no-brainer, but they've only had 1 clean sheet so far - it feels like they don't mind conceding those non-important goals once they've sewn up the game. Could this change as the season progresses?

What about a Stoke player for their home games (Shawcross is just over 5)? (hell, what about a Swans player for their home games?)

          Well done Sherlock.

That may be so, I've had him for about 4 weeks so hindsight doesn't come into it, you just have to watch the games and pick who looks dangerous.

Agbonalhor is bang in form, scoring well as far as bonus goes, van Persie is struggling although he is a better player, sometimes its not about whos better but whos playing well.

You sure? RVP missed one at OT. Also, Arsenal don't look like getting a pen soon - with Gervinho and Walcott lack final ball and cutting edge. Arteta and Ramsey passing is slow and predictable.

RVP at near £12M needs to be scoring like Aguero and Rooney with at least a goal or assist per game to return the investment.

Is sturridge more of a short term prospect? I could replace De Laet with kompany and mata with VDV, but it would mean replacing Adebayor with sturridge. I wouldn't have a problem with this if Sturridge is expect to start most league games.

I expect him to start most games, AVB clearly favours him and he has started all games he has been available for.
Anelka/Kalou seem out of favour and have seen numerous rumours that both are going.
That said, he won't start every game (who will?) but the right spot is his to lose now.

Gotta be Suarez. Unless you want to spend the cash elsewhere, in which case Sturridge is your man.

I've been thinking all last week that this was WC week but then decided not worth it, now after a solid but unspectacular weekend I think it might be the right time now rather than gw11. Anyone care to offer some friendly advice? Im top of my main mini-league and 440,000 roughly in the world.

    Vorm (season keeper)
Given (could downgrade for a bit of cash but certainly not an essential swap at the moment)

    Kompany (season keeper)
Bos (season keeper unless he gets rotated)
    Simpson (season keeper)
    Senderos (must get rid)
Brown (also think i should get rid)

Mata (strong but Sturridge could be the alternative Chelsea coverage given Mata's price)
Arteta (good fixtures but bit expensive and playing deep)
    Silva (season keeper)
Cabaye (Looking good and feel he'll pick up a good haul soon)
    Sess (oh dear lord)

di Santo (good fixtures but Wigan and there's better striker options for not much extra cash)
    Rooney (season keeper)
    Ade (potential season keeper)

So I need to get rid of Sess, Senderos urgently, Arteta, Brown and potential di Santo less urgently. To WC or not to WC? I'd bring in Petrov, Sturridge, NTaylor, Bannan and maybe play the price rises (if i can) this week. Apologies for the essay

You have 3 defenders, 4 midfielders and 2 strikers that'll play most weeks. Therefore, play Di Santo at home to Bolton and bench Senderos, Brown & Sess.

I wouldn't. Arteta, Brown and Di Santo have lovely fixtures coming up. Sess too, but totally out of form. I'd drop him and Senderos only.

The players you'r elooking to bring in are all small fry. Dump Sess and maybe Senderos this week and just keep rollign along with the steady incremental changes. You have a good squad.

Happy with my team after De Laet > Walker.
(Vorm Krul) - Cheap, rotate well.
(Bosingwa Enrique Walker Warnock Simpson) - 4 attacking wing backs for less than 5.5 along side Simpson who is self-explanatory, Bos may become Kompany soon.
(Silva Mata VDV Nani Dyer) - Differential midfield as not many have 4 big hitters, go this way every year and it works pretty good, this year I feel it will work even better as no good (yet) mid-priced mids where as there are many value picks in the forwards.
(Suarez Adebayor Sturridge) - I know, no Aguero Rooney RVP. Feeling a little more confident as Aguero's injury may lead to a little more rotation, Rooney tough fixtures (even though he is fixture proof he didnt look too good on return) and RVP is due an injury or 5 🙂
Have a WC in play in case all turns to shit with those forwards. What are your thoughts? First RMT.
    Thankyou heaps

      I like it.
Going for a similar front line/midfield, with a WC by my side just in case 😆
Can't see my going without all 3 unless I didn't have it.
Good team IMO, with 10 players in the top 5 who you could play each week, alongside Warnock/Simpson/Dyer who can come in in case of horrible fixtures for the back 3.

Thanks, I only captained Rooney twice when I had him anyway, but yeah on weeks like next GW a big hitter would probably be captain (although i'd only captain RVP out of the 3)
Have had Suarez twice, Silva twice and Nani captain along side Rooney twice and only failed with Nani so I hope I can choose the right one each week.
Bosingwa/Enrique will play every week with Walker/Warnock/Simpson coming in the 3rd defence. And then the other 2 will go with Sturridge/Dyer for the final spot in 11. Hope it works !

Suarez and Adebayor SHOULD go good enough over the coming weeks to keep up with them, and that midfield is very good. I for one, am jealous 😆

So still miles behind the leaders, I think the next 3 GW's are crucial to make up ground before everyone captains Rooney for 10 weeks solid!

    GW8 RVP(SUN)
    GW9 Suarez(NOR)
    GW10 Aguero (WOL)

......is the plan but will be Rooneyless, Go For It?

Well it surely makes sense since Rooney is facing three difficult fixtures. I am also panning of selling him for RVP and captaining the latter in the latter in next two GWs.

like a lot of folks i'm having a disastrous season so far

now i know its early doors yet but a rank of 831k is very poor plus the fact i've had two 20ishk ranks and i fell just outside top 1k last year so i feel i need to kick start my season but i just seem stuck this year

    my team

    vorm given
    bosingwa kompany simpson brown gabbidon
    nani nasri dyer SWP moses
    aguero rooney adebayor

now out of that lot i'll hold on to vorm given bosingwa kompany simpson nani dyer aguero and rooney for now

nasri i think i'll stick - prob him and silva will even out over the year and he'll be a good differential

adebayor i think i'll stick with for now, seems in form and nice fixtures

so that leaves me with brown gabbidon SWP and moses???

i'm thinking moses and gabbidon need to go 1st followed by brown and SWP

anybody have any thoughts on who i should go for or any other players i should have instead of my current batch

    cheers

SWP should be the priority but could give 1 last game against Blackburn then they have a few really tough games, Ramsey could be the best replacement. Moses has good run of games but if you have lost patience then perhaps Bannan? Gabbidon > Taylor (Swan) is other option.

im thinkin bout replacing both Taarabt and Brunt. This would leave me with 12.3m to spend on 2 midfielders. who would you guys recommend i bring in??

I have Nani, Silva and Sinclair.

Captain choice GW8 is pretty difficult with Man U away to LIV and Man City home to Villa. Adebayor is probably my best option, but NEW are definitely finiding momentum

    Ruddy
    Ward Bosingwa Kompany
    Moses Nani Dyer Silva
    Rooney Adebayor Suarez

    Given Taarabt Simpson Brown

    Hi all,

Reasonable start this year, sitting at 181k but think my midfield needs some work.

    Foster (Vorm)
Bosingwa, Kompany, Naylor, Simpson, De Laet
    Silva, Arteta, Taarabt, Anderson, Ferguson
    Rooney, RVP, Adebayor

Can't bring myself to lose any of the front 3 for next few weeks until I get in Suarez for Liverpool's good run.

Happy to lose Arteta and Taarabt but who to replace with.

Would give me around £14.5m to play with.

    Any help welcome!
