Sunday’s performance at old club Bolton bullets Daniel Sturridge up the new Watchlist rankings. We already had a keen eye on the winger’s weekend progress- Sturridge was on the bench for our Gameweek Seven Scout Selection Committee picks and returned our faith in his abilities with two goals, an assist and a couple of Fantasy Premier League (FPL) bonus points in the 5-1 Reebok rout.

Suspended for the first three Gameweeks due to a straight red card picked up in his loan period under Owen Coyle last season, Sturridge grabbed a goal in his first appearance of the new campaign; an impudent back-heel helped Chelsea to a 2-1 win at Sunderland before he made way on the hour mark.

The following week at Old Trafford harvested just a couple of FPL points and when a knee injury, picked up in the Carling cup win over Fulham, sidelined him for the 4-1 home win over Swansea, Sturridge had fallen slightly off the Fantasy radar. When available, though, Andre Villas-Boas has started the forward in every league game and a return to full fitness allowed him a place back on the right of the Blues front three last Sunday afternoon.

Only last week, the Chelsea boss was talking up the player, confirming he sees Sturridge as a strong contender for the wide right spot, rather than a central role:

I am not sure how Daniel’s career will evolve but I think he has natural ability to play on the right flank. He offers me a little bit of the characteristics that I had with Hulk playing in that position last season when I was at Porto. We count him at the moment as a winger and he competes for that position with the others. He might play there but for this season we don’t plan to use Daniel in the striker position.

It’s 25 FPL points from three games, then, an average of 8.3 per game; the fourth-highest ratio so far this season, behind Wayne Rooney, Bobby Zamora and Sergio Aguero. With Villas-Boas clearly full of faith in the youngster’s abilities, his game time seems promising and priced at a mere 6.5, playing in a top-three team, his Fantasy prospects clearly look enticing.

Four home games and two favourable away trips in the next six Gameweeks (EVE, qpr, ARS, bla, LIV, WOL) looks a kind run of fixtures for Villas-Boas’ side and if Sturridge can maintain the displays that have seen him pick up more Fantasy points than any other Blues forward already, he could well prove to be integral to their Premier League fortunes, as Chelsea tuck in nicely behind both Manchester clubs at the top of the table.

I still think one of the forward spots is too valuable to be taken up by sturridge, especially when he plays a little wider. Thoughts?

In my opinion the main threat to Sturride is Anelka or Kalou in that right hand side role not Drogba or Torres.

Depends...with Nani and Silva in midfield, I think I'm quite happy filling up a slot up front with a 6.5 Chelsea player with his eye for goal. Certainly, with two trannies this GW, Sturridge is on my very shortlist.

i wish i had Silva and Nani...! Rooney and Ageuro (+Suarez) take up so much of my cash...
Sturridge the best option in that 7m and under bracket IMO (across all Defs, Mids and Fwds)

      I disagree.
Personally, right now I don't have him as I have Rooney, Saurez and Adebayor.
I am though thinking of bringing him in instead of Adebayor to free up some cash for elsewhere.
When AVB says winger, he means right of a front 3 and not wide right in a 4-4-2.
I think he will score and create a fair few goals if though he gets more points than Adebayor remains to be seen.

He effectively plays up front with Drogba/Torres as he doesnt park himself on the wing and with Mata having a 'free-role' it isn't your traditional front 3.

Anyone else actually still got Jamie O'Hara - i was convinced he was going to do well this season (esp given his kind start) - but through a bit of bad luck (NEWC game), deeper position and a change in the BP system he has done ABSOLULTELY nothing.
Anyone keeping the faith? Im looking very hard at Martin Petrov instead......(obviously previous Scout article hasnt helped)

So has anyone tried FIFA12 for PC?

It's supposed to be the same on PC as on consoles in the 12 version, rather than utter garbage on PC as in previous versions. They have really been awful, and it's about time they addressed that.

    Anyone?

    I have two free transfers.

Would it be crazy to do:
    Rooney + Moses + Mata => Sturridge + Nani + VDV ?

That would leave me with a nice attack line:

    Silva/Nani/VDV/Dyer/Tiote
    RVP/Suarez/Sturridge

    Any experts on price rises/falls?

I often look at Fiso CTC and Total FPL to get an idea of which players are due to rise and fall. I am a bit confused at the moment because Sergio Aguero is currently 123% for a fall on Fiso CTC (he should have actually had a price drop already if that was reliable). On Total FPL things are very different, with Sergio Aguero only up to 25% for a fall. I guess the fact that he is currently yellow flagged might be affecting the rate he can fall in an unexpected way, leading to the confusion. Anyway, I hope his price doesn't fall because I want to keep him as it seems likely he'll be fit and firing against Villa. I know that once the yellow flag is removed his price will be frozen too so I hope that happens soon.

Can anybody shed any more light on this please?

with a yellow flag you have to get to 250% to drop. I have no idea why the two sites have different ratings

They have different ratings, because apparently, FPL keeps fiddling with the base figures. They were both caught out by Leighton Baines, and CTC has still not amended his base figures. TotalFPL, is good at rises, but Frank appears to have temporarily thrown in the towel on falls ... 🙂

If all MOTs are there, check the stamps and the names of the garages and addresses of the owner, write them down to check that they have a history of the car, if the vendor objects, it's a wrong'un.

It's a script for your web browser that allows you to see loads of more stats and stuff on the FPL page.

Just installed it - works great - it gives loads more stats than the vanilla FPL site gives you - things like how much you bought a player for and how much he will sell for are actually shown under your players. Also links to Crack The Code too this year, so you can see at a glance what's going on in terms of ins and outs.
Very useful - ta Garamel 🙂

Not convinced by him at all. Very good player but 6 points from a possible 68 offensive points (goals plus assists) in the last two games is a pisspoor return for a 9.5 mid.

I really want Sturridge and Ramsey, but I have Adebayor/Rooney and RVP and can't see a reason to drop either of the the three, in midfield, it is slightly easier, I have Arteta who I could drop and save money on, or finally drop Taarabt or Jarvis, but Jarvis' stats are good enough and the Wolves strike force will finally start scoring again and he should be in and amongst it all. Nani and Dyer I am happy with.

very similar to my post above Johnny. Im going to leave him, which might be a mistake, it leaves me with only Bosingwa for Chelseas decent run. Might regret it but Adebayor and Suarez both have just as good fixtures, and Im keeping Rooney for the season.

Just due the fact Chelsea is a better team, then Sturridge is going to get much better delivery of the ball to feet then Adebayor is and will most probably have more chances to score especially on the roll he is on, according to this article!
I wouldn't personally have 2 midfielders from the same team, just due to the fact one of them well get the points and the other won't most of the time. So as it seems Ramsey is doing better then Arteta at the moment, I would swap arteta out.

That's if you really want to make the transfers though, if not sticking with what you have is still good enough in my opinion. Probably only a few points difference between the 2 different options!
