Emile Heskey’s hamstring injury in Aston Villa’s Gameweek four clash with Everton has proved the making of Barry Bannan’s domestic season. A couple of brief sub appearances had preceded the Goodison draw but Heskey’s withdrawal has afforded the young Scot a chance to establish himself in Alex McLeish’s first-team and, so far, he’s grabbed it with both hands.

Bannan has started the subsequent three matches for Villa and has either assisted or scored in all of them, playing a significant part in maintaining his side’s unbeaten start to the new campaign. A home game with Newcastle in Gameweek five saw him set up Gabby Agbonlahor for the opener in a 1-1 draw, then the following week, with Darren Bent sidelined with a groin strain, Bannan stepped up to fire home a penalty in the away game at Loftus Road.

Last weekend saw the same strong form continue, despite Heskey’s availability. Bannan again set up Agbonlahor for a Villa opener and this time round, McLeish gave the youngster his first ninety minutes of the season, as he continues to establish himself as the creative hub of the new-look Villa side. So far, Bannan sits on 4 Fantasy Premier League (FPL) bonus points – only Agbonlahor has managed more for the Midlands outfit; an impressive return, then, given his mere three starts.

While summer signing Charles N’Zogbia struggles to make an impact and Stephen Ireland flatters to deceive, Bannan has looked the real deal in the Villa midfield. As his manager declared in the aftermath of Saturday’s win over Wigan:

“Barry Bannan is coming in and starting to look impressive. At last we had big levels from our creative players. That’s what’s been missing in the past few games because we have had an awful lot of opportunities without executing the final ball.”

A Gameweek eight trip to Man City will prove the ultimate test for Villa’s unbeaten run but four out of the following five offer plenty promise (WBA, sun, NOR, tot, swa). Bannan, priced at just 5.0, is giving Fantasy managers plenty reason for consideration right now.

Paul Is certain he won't make the same mistakes next season. Follow them on Twitter

Hmmm well you already have walcott as arsenal cover... if you do want to make sure you get top points from their games then maybe go for Ramsey. Personally I would also think about VDV, or Bale just because of spurs gd run of games! (3 good fixtures compared to Arsenals 2)

New is a tough game. DVD comes next one instead of Walcott, but I need more info will he be on the bench. I need to reinvent form for my team. Ars are good team to do that. Nice fixtures and low ownership. Walcott is on borrowed time in my team. I think I am gonna keep Ramsey long term.

yea totally agree that Ramsey is worth it, but you do have to remember that newcastle has conceded within the last 3 matches? 2 of which against weak sides. Means their defense is weaker then people think and spurs will rip that apart, they havent been against anyone huge this season yet, gonna be a real test for them.

Depends who is gonna play in Tot midfield central pairing. Will Sandro play with Modric on the wing or he'll partner Parker in midfield. All depends if Cabaye is available, Still I don't think that new will be a walk over for Tot. 1 goal max they can score. DVD could wait too, He could be benched. 10m for a rotation risk? No thanks. Still I fancy New against Tot

I prefer Schawcross, it fits better in my rotation strategy, and Liv are conceding a lot,

Roonster is on the sell list cause the next 3 GW's I see it as a chance to go up in the ranking having RVP instead of Roonster. Liv it will be tough, Kenny will play very tight game, then is the City game, Mancini will play the unholy trinity and there is the Everton game in which Roonster never plays good, he might get a red card in that game.

In mean time I will have RVP in SUN, STK and Aguero in WOL, definite captaincy options which could gain a lot I mean a lot, I don't feel confidence in captaining Rooney in any of next 3 games. In mean time a lot of players will keep Rooney which I see it as huge chance. Fair enough?

Team value is irrelevant. You are playing for points not pounds. If you select the right players at the right stages of the season, value will look after itself.

With that in mind, my centsworth: Swap AY to Nani; Arteta and Petrov are lightweight midpark fodder-Mata represents a way in to the CHS fixtures coming up at an reasonable 9.5.

          Mata, Silva, Nani = heavyweight

          Dyer, Arteta, Petrov = lightweight

He has two h/ws and three l/ws: I'm suggesting that some form of rebalancing is required particulalry as h/w mids are a very productive source of pts. 😉

Better than mine, no doubt about it.

I'm just saying if anyone wants to give anyone advice then they should have the history to support what they are saying

There are too many folk on here that talk as if they are experts when in fact they are talking shit

Cleary you are not talking shit. But, you should want to make it clear that you know that you are talking about......

Disagree Larkytown, anyone can have a valid opinion, that's what this site is for, diverse opinions. Whether you take any notice is up to each person. Following your argument to a logical conclusion, only the person at the top would be allowed to post their view. 🙂 I know that's not what you meant though. Just joking.

Obviously anyone on this site can post what they think, and thats what makes it great. I'm just saying if you want to give advice then you are only helping your fellow FF-er more by showing that you have some calibre to back up your advice instead of having no history or having a link that clicks to some bird rubbing her tits (ie "Freshy")

Morning Saturday.. Good weekend with no EPL, so I can get to the beach and enjoy the peace.

A bit shocked to have seen Rooney got sent off as someone said it before the game yesterday.
How often does it occur? Predicting the red card correctly.

Btw, A.Young had another good game.I know how bad of United fixture coming but his form made me wanna keep him in the team. Please rate this choice. Any change will be a hit.

    A) keep Young .. I have Nani
    B) Young > Mata .. I have Drogba 😳
    C) young > VDV .. I have Ade.
    D) young > Ramsey .. I have no Arsenal.

    Young Nani Silva Moses Dyer
    Ade. Drogba Aguero

Yeah, he could do well. But.. I might give him a few weeks to get through his family issue and strong opponents. It's probably after Everton match that I would bring him in. Hope his price won't be too far for grab at that time..

Btw, I actually wanna get RVP but it'd take -8 hits for me. It doesn't worth, right?

I actually think RVP is the best route to Arsenal but I can't make a straight change from Ade > RVP or Drogba > RVP. It needs -8 hits to get RVP, so I'm reluctant to get him.. In addition, Spurs will have a good run of fixtures. With potential rotation between Defoe and VDV, I think Ade is to be kept.

No one seem to consider Walcott. What's about him vs Ramsey?

So, you reckon Ramsey will outscore A.Young more than 4 pts. Umm.. It could be possible.

If we know more about Young's injury and Ramsey stay fit after Tuesday, this could be settled.

Btw, people seem to believe Man Utd have a chance to beat Liverpool. I'm scare to see Young takes part of that depite I'd like Liverpool to win.. 😀

No, I think of it more as a longer term move. Nanai and Young is overkill. It is quite likely you won't make up the hit next week, but you'll improve your coverage and free up cash. Wait a week if you prefer not to take a hit.

I see your points and quite agree from improving coverage perspective. It will definitely give me some pleasure to watch Arsenal game with hope for my player to do something.

It should be this week to get him as I could realise 0.2m profit from Young, make a gain from Ramsey, and play him in two home games of Arsenal. Then, I might do Moses > Mata and Drogba > Suarez on gw9. 🙂

The problem now is A.Young might drop in price before Tuesday. 🙁

Guys cool off... Nobody becomes great overnight, and everybody learns from mistakes and becomes better. Even the freshy or newbie could give great advice and make great decisions. Your argument sounds exactly like government leaders who never want to give a chance for youngsters. Younger generations may makes mistakes while learning to be the next batch of leaders, but this is inevitable. Learn to live with it. Please be considerate to those who are new to this site.

    Arteta to Ramsey?

The current formation seems to favour Ramsey but Arteta can score goals. Can he score them from his current deeper position?

I'm tempted to change then keep tabs on Arteta and get him in if he moves to a more attacking role.

That is not a daft move at all.

I have Arteta in my team, and I reckon he is the player who offers the lowest points/price value. He is on the top of my sales list.

I am thinking Arteta OUT VdV IN, and Given OUT Ruddy IN to free up the cash for the move.

This is assuming Aguero will be fit.

It was reported a couple days ago he won't play either game for argentina but the injury is not bad enough for him to get sent back. He said he was disappointed as he hoped he'd be able to play the 2nd game. Good chance he'll be alright, UCL a few days later though so might not be risked anyway.
