This evening we’ve made a change to the way the Season Ticker tool is delivered to our visitors in the sidebar. In order to improve the performance of the site, we’ve removed the Ticker from the initial load of our pages and made it available via a button in the sidebar in it’s original position.

The Ticker now loads separately and on request in your sidebar when required. Members will of course have access to the Members version of the Next Six Ticker as before.

The change was implemented specifically to improve the page load times for users of Internet Explorer versions 7 and 8 – both of which were suffering issues with the Ticker code. Users of these browsers should experience far better loading times but are still encouraged to upgrade to version 9 in order to view the site and specifically the Ticker at its best. We still have some bugs associated with the Ticker in IE but we are now working to resolve these.

All users should experience an improvement in page load time however and, by introducing this button, we are now able to keep the Ticker available on all article pages and usable by our visitors when required. This will enable us to develop the tool further, without concern for the initial page load times.

Following this change, we have further optimisations to make to the new design as we continue to tweak following the recent change over.

As always, thanks for your patience, feedback and support in helping us improve the site.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

Dunno the rest of your team. I'd say... Ramsey + Walters or Petrov.

Ramsey is in good form and play for big team while the latter have good fixtures.

        thanks mate.

        team is:

        vorm kenny
bosingwa simpson woodgate ward de laet
        silva young ramsey swp dyer
        rooney aguero adebayor
1 FT and 1.3 in the bank.

swapped brunt for ramsey because I didn't want to lose money on the price rise. not sure if I should use my second transfer on de laet or swp because I'm looking at getting enrique in for de laet but he plays united this week and swp plays blackburn so might save the FT and make two next week.

with no price changes I have just enough to do swp de laet and ward out for bannan enrique and jones (or kompany in). think thats worth it or should I get one of walters or petrov?

Currently ranked 200th in the rugby picks out of 58k. Just gone with France 1-12 and NZ 1-12. Funny how it's the same 4 semi-fianlists as 1987.

Yeah, was pretty lucky but some bad calls, or should i say non-calls on both sides. Was very low scoring, i thought both teams would get well over 20 points each, was a tough tough game

Boks had 80% of the territory and something similar with the ball. Every stat was in their favour bar the scoreboard. Bizarre.

Not getting past the gain line was their downfall.

Wales look like they can beat anyone. In fact any of the 4 left could win it and for a change there's no dominant team or clear favourite.

                    True.

ABs are 0/2 with the Wallabies in WCs. Wales haven't beaten the ABs in 50 years. No team has ever won a WC when losing a pool game.

                    Something has to give.

I've had it with Brunt. Looking to get rid of him for Bannan or Petrov (downgrading as I need the 0.1 to buy Rooney back eventually).

Looking at Petrov and Bannan. Bolton's fix is easing up but I'd still go Bannan if he's guaranteed to start. Any other suggestions?

If Aguero is out will you hang on?

One transfer I'd seriously consider would involve Simpson NEW. I'd get rid of Bos, free up some cash and upgrade Ferguson. Particularly as you have a lightweight mid.

The two trades I'd do would be Nani in for AY and the Simpson/Bos move.

Bryce Lawrence- Worst Referee In The RWC

Many of the Kiwi referee’s decisions in the 15-6 win by Ireland at Eden Park – particularly at the scrum – appeared to baffle the Wallabies, and allowed Ireland to knock over decisive penalties or repel Australian pressure.

But in a crucial twist, The Daily Telegraph understands Lawrence later made admissions he had got several calls wrong at the scrum – including one that led to an Ireland penalty goal – and conceded other decisions were also inaccurate.

He surely made up for it yesterday....

    😕

Ouch...those grapes feel sour this morning 😕

QF refs were chosen for their performance in the tournament to date. I don't think a good ref becomes a bad ref overnight. Don't recall you mentioning Mr Lawrence previously.

Besides, if you are relying on the referee to win you games, then I would question whether you are actually good enough to win in your own right. Yesterday, proved that the Boks were just not good enough to breach the Wallaby defence. 😉

No need to mention Mr Lawrence. He was mentioned many times in the S14....

Last time I looked we breached Aussies defence 3 times. Two "forward" passes and a lost ball.

Not relying on refs to win games, just sad if they have such an influence on games. Just look at the Somoa game vs boks(that we won) Of the ball incidents were a disgrace.

Don't worry, AB's will get a chance to complain when Kaplan/Joubert let Welch/Froggies win the RWC.

If BL was that bad in the S14, why did he make the RWC list? I watched the Samoan game and both sets of players set out to make life diffulcult for the referee. A Samoan player was sent off remember. Funny how they blame the ref, too 😕

There were things going on at the breakdown that no one could see. Credit to Pocock though, he stays on his feet and is a big influence in that area.

Why Smit started ahead of Broussouw is a mystery to me. No room for sentiment in the game imo.

You mean Bismarck du P, Everyone in SA agrees on that. You have a serious problem if you cappie is not good enough to make first XV.

No seriously, don't think the Boks has ever been in such control of a game vs Wallabies or AB's in the last 4 years. Cooper was shocking for a change, aussie scrum was under pressure, we stole 4 lineouts balls and lost none. They made 3x more tackles.

                Yet they buggered it up.

Relax, I still love you guys. The two of you are my fav Aussie & Kiwi's.

                😀

Haha I meant Jafa, but Bismarck du P will do 😉
SA killed us stats wise, Matfield was awesome in the lineouts and we just kept going back to the same thing.
Our kicking game was pathetic, and thats being nice, Cooper did one good kick all game.
As the commentator said over here, if there was two Pocock's it wouldn't have been close, he saved us yesterday.
Both should have had an extra try each if it wasn't for the refs, but it's done now.
                  Thankfully 😀

As bad as that ref was at times yesterday (and he was pretty bad: two forward passes that didn't look forward stopping one certain try and another very strong chance of another, and one hands in the ruck right on the line in particular), when you've got 75+% territory and 60+% possession, you really really should be winning the game. Brutal game though, big hits galore.

Do you guys think Ramsey will rise tomorrow? If yes, should I do Moses -> Ramsey now? Keep in mind that I have Young, Agbonlahor, Aguero and Adebayor, who are all injury doubts and only one free trade.

    Mark,

This is a minor quibble but is there any chance of having the rotating article thingy on the home page start with the latest article onload? At present it doesn't even include the latest article.

    Cheers.

      +1

Whenever i go to the homepage, i keep clicking the rotating article bit and i always go to a previous one, and i know it's really minor but i find it a chore to scroll down to the latest article. I think it would be better to have the rotating article start with the latest one, just for ease of navigation

what the general thoughts on arteta? is he still playing deep at arsenal?

i've him (and ramsey) for the next game with 1 more freebie, thinking of switching to petrov for the short term before a potential wildcard. or should i hang on n save the transfer. i do like arsenal's next 2 fixtures

    any thoughts?

    Thoughts on Nasri?
I have Silva, but it could even out not having Aguero by having both.
It's either him or VdV (have Adebayor) so I'm stumped.

i went with VDV over nasri (i also have silva and Adebayor) mainly because VDV scores goals and Nasri could be a rotation risk. Im looking to get Rooney and possibly Augero into my team though so i might have to downgrade my mid at some point.

Yeah Im going with 4 big mids, Suarez, Adebayor and Sturridge up front until I WC (most likely GW11, possibly later if I'm happy) to get in Rooney.
I think I will wait a week as SWP has Blackburn, but if VdV gets dropped this week, I will either get in Nasri against Man U, or keep SWP for Chelsea which wouldn't be ideal.

i'd say nasri would be a good pick for the week but for the following, city play utd at old trafford... so it depends if you wanna have two of your big hitters in the same match against united away.. VDV would be a safer choice imo

So, what to do about the spud-faced nipper? Is it meltdown time or will the kindly words and reassuring arm-round-the-shoulder of Lord Ferg spur the lad on to thrash 3 past Liverpool?

Van Persie waits in the wings with tasty fixtures but an out-of-form team and wonky defence behind him.

Liverpool's own walking red card has equally kind fixtures but has never scored in double figures.

Rooney > Van P is a real tempter but fraught with potential trouble. I think I just want to avoid another Malouda situation, but is the time really ripe for dumping the Potato?

Unlike Malouda Rooney has yet to express a dip in form. The masses want RVP but need a comfort blanket of Rooney problems to do so.Tough fixtures, Wolves gave Liverpool a game at Anfield, because of the red card he will lose de plot, etc !

Yes, I think keeping Rooney until he shows a tangible decline in form is the common sense approach. Or until he gets sent off. MUFC fixtures from GW 11 > 20 are incredibly good and it seems an uneccessary waste of transfers and money to sell him now and buy him back in a month.
