Our Watchlist rankings, listing our current player recommendations for the next three to four gameweeks, have been updated and are available for your perusal. Read on for a breakdown of this week’s moves and logic behind them…

The goalkeeper rankings are our most volatile right now, as the likes of Chelsea, United and even City, struggle to maintain a run of clean sheets, the trend of acquiring budget of mid-price stoppers remains sound. Our current rankings reflect that, with Liverpool’s Pepe Reina the only “expensive” goalkeeper option listed.

Villa’s Shay Given climbs to the top having so far failed to live up to the pre-season hype as the clear and obvious goalkeeping selection in our squads. Given has thus far kept 3 clean sheets in 8 starts, earning 5 points from saves along the way. That ranks him ninth in the Fantasy Premier League (FPL) rankings right now, although we feel he now has fixtures in the short-term to boost his points tally and make up ground.

Stoke’s Asmir Begovic is the top scoring keeper in the FPL and, once his trip to the Emirates is disposed of, it’s hard to argue against his appeal of three home games in four from gameweek 10 onwards. He could well topple Given next time around – although arguably the Stoke defence is best covered via the likes of Ryan Shawcross who offers additional goal threat.

Indeed, Shawcross, subject of our Watchlist article last week, is again a climber, a move that almost breaks him into our top five rankings. Strong gameweek 9 fixtures keep both Newcastle’s Steven Taylor and Fulham’s John Arne Riise ensconced in fourth and fifth, while above them, the trio of City’s Vincent Kompany, Chelsea’s Jose Boswinga and Liverpool’s Jose Enrique remain settled. The latter has fully justified his number one ranking in recent weeks and, with three very strong consecutive fixtures, looks a clear front-runner for any defensive funds.

It must be said that both Kompany and Bosingwa look less secure. Villa-Boas’ side have kept just a single clean sheet, whilst City embark on a run of opponents that will test their resolve, starting with the trip to Old Trafford this weekend. Both could be set for drops in our Watchlist rankings in the near future, with the likes of Shawcross looking certain to be promoted in our thinking.

The top two spots in our midfielder rankings remain untouched, despite both David Silva and Nani being benched in gameweek 8. Below them, Tottenham’s Rafael Van der Vaart is pushing hard and is beginning to look a real prospect as Spurs embark on a run of opponents that will surely grant them handsome attacking returns. Certainly, with Emmanuel Adebayor competing with a host of established attacking talent in our Fantasy forward lines, Van der Vaart looks a more viable option when it comes to covering Tottenham’s potential.

Bolton’s Martin Petrov came under the Watchlist microscope last week and with good reason – he enjoys a significant climb into our top five placings on the back of decent form and a favourable run of fixtures. At 5.8 in the FPL, it’s difficult to find a better value proposition for the month ahead, unless you’re prepared to take a risk on team-mate Chris Eagles at 5.3.

Fulham’s Clint Dempsey is another prospect enjoying a climb this week – we’ve been studying his numbers carefully and, despite Fulham’s stuttering form, Dempsey’s goal threat remains substantial and indicates that returns could be very much on the agenda in weeks to come.

Established heavy-hitters Frank Lampard and Steven Gerrard hover outside out top five – blasts from the pasts, both are enjoying a Fantasy renaissance having regained starting roles. Hugely expensive, the obstacle to investment in clear, although both could provide very strong differentials for those brave enough to invest. Juan Mata and Dirk Kuyt offer more budget friendly coverage of the Chelsea and Liverpool midfield – although both are arguably less explosive. Certainly Mata has yet to deliver the kind of returns we’ve seen from Lampard, while Kuyt’s potential is dented by the loss of spot-kick duties to Gerrard and the Dutchman always under threat of rotation with Andy Carroll kept on the leash.

Amongst the forwards, there really is little movement. Our endorsement of Robin Van Persie over both Wayne Rooney and Sergio Aguero paid off in gameweek eight, and we’re confident enough in the Arsenal’s skipper’s form and fixtures to leave him in the number one spot. Liverpool’s Luis Suarez is also promoted above the Manchester pairing with fixtures over the next three gameweeks that should afford him the potential for significant returns.

Lower down, Gabby Agbonlahor enjoys a slight jump above Chelsea’s Daniel Sturridge with stronger fixtures in his favour. They both trail Tottenham’s Adebayor however – he could be a real threat to the established top four if he can stay fit and begin to deliver over his run of favourable opponents.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

Hey guys, I currently don't have any Liverpool players. I have three transfers in mind, but only one free trade this week.

    1) Ward -> Enrique
    2) Young -> Gerrard
    3) Agbonlahor -> Suarez

Which of these should I do over the next 3 weeks, and which should I do this week?

Nah looks all good - 2 premiums, 1 midrange, 2 cheapies. Pretty similar to mine.

I'd try and offload De Laet ASAP though.

If the price changes are going to stop you doing it, I'd go for it.

I generally have my transfers worked out a week ahead and grab any guys in danger of rising as soon as they've played, ie. Ramsey and VDV this week. Been burnt by rises/drops too many times!

Visit totalfpl.com to know who will rise/drop and when. Ward appears to be dropping soon, however, I don't think it will be this week. With all of Wolves injuries and their upcoming fixture against Swansea coming up, I wouldn't see why he should go down in price this week.

You only have three defenders who are pretty much nailed on and Simpson might not be much longer. Stoke defenders look good and shawcross seems to get starts. De Laet or Woodgate to Shawcross and then try to get Larsson in your midfield in a week or two.

The rest your side is pretty solid. You're gonna want Man U players at some point and maybe bin Gutierrez when Newcastle fixtures turn sour.

I'd keep Baines for now. If you are set on getting rid of him then Kompany is the obvious swap which would maybe free up cash for a more expensive mid.

How much of a rotation risk is he though?

I'm not talking about the Man U game but will Mancini want to risk him in the easier home games with midweek European ties going on?

I don't doubt his ability but balotelli is playing well and I worry that Aguero won't play enough.

So according to FFS City have a bad run when they have WOL qpr NEW liv NOR.. after this weeks game!! that is a strong run!! also petrov has climbed up the watchlist rankings when he has been criticised to death by bolton fans and may have the threat of being benched hangin on him. Also Mata who was near the top last weekend has now fallen with qpr bla WOL and home games with ARS and LIV? Have they just randomly lost faith in him? reminds me of walcott at the top of the watchlist a few weeks ago.. anyway.. end of rant.. just some observations

Absolutely no idea who to captain this week. RVP, Suarez, VDV, Mata/Sturridge or Silva???

Can someone please give me any information to help my decision.

      (without mentioning the captain poll)

I have the same options but Ade instead of Suarez and for me it's RVP captain without doubt. Looked great on Sunday and Stoke have been poor away from home after Europe.

            Hi there. Thank you.

Yes, I'm probably getting Jose Enrique in this week. It's likely I'll try to manage without any Liverpool midfielder or forward.

            How about you?

              Hmm, torn between Enrique/SG/VDV.

Probably best to sort my defence and get Enrigue I suppose. If not vs NOR then when?!

I can see Spuds scoring vs BB as well, which leaves me with young-->DVD for a 4pt hit.

Can then hopefully save a trannie next week.

No, there is a bug. It's in IE again. We've just discovered it and we're get this addressed asap. Basically it seems when the GW's updated this weekend, a bug was created for IE users. We obviously advise Members to use Fireforx or Chrome to view the Tickers (we do anyway) but I will get this fixed as soon as possible.

Looking for some comments/feedback. After a disastrous start I have recovered a little recently.

I FT and 1.5 mill in Bank

      Given
      Simpson Jones Enrique
      Silva Mata Arteta Dyer
      RVP Ade Zamora

      Subs
      Hilario Kompany Naylor Moses

      I was thinking of:
A Mata to Gerrard (leaves me with 0.0)
B Mata to Gerrard and Arteta to Ramires - so I keep Chelsea cover (-4pt)
C Do nothing and keep transfer for double next week.

      Thoughts?

Arteta has to go alright but Ramsey seems a very sideways move and not worth it atm. Was thinking of Arteta to Walters next week and that frees up cash too.
Zamora stays for now..... he's my season keeper differential.

thinking of c at the moment.... ie keeping the tfr.

I considered that.... would really like a Liverpool midfielder for Arteta right now but Adam is not worth it as Gerrard has taken over freekicks.

Downing has done nothing and is less effective with no Carroll to send in crosses for.

          Henderson looks rotation threat.

Lucas banned so not an option.

Really thinking of just letting the transfer ride

Rangers 1 - 0 Liverpool. Thankfully for most FPL teams both Gerrard and Suarez never made the trip north however Carroll Kuyt Downing Belemy & Adam all got game time. The 2nd half of the match didn't gain any momentum with the amount of substitutions used. Liverpool 2nd choice keeper, recently signed from Roma, dislocated his finger in the second half and could be out for around a month. Rangers dominated the match and went ahead through an Aurellio own goal in the first half. Bellemy and Carroll both started but looked sluggish and struggled to get past 40 year old Davie Weir.

Already got Bosingwa, Mata and Ramires, so I'd have to shift one of them too.

And if you've got two and only use one you still have two the next gw, right?

Both of them are good captains, ts a coin flip. But Suarez can't score a brace. One goal and assist is his max.

Better choice than Suarez to be honest... looked great at the weekend, in form, takes penos and most direct freekicks, at home up against a Stoke side who'll be coming off a Euro tie. Suarez has yet to deliver anything that makes me desperate to get him in and captain him.

is it worth to do Ward –> Barnett (is on rise) for 4pt hit… Ward more likely gonna drop .1m by tomorrow and don’t want to loose the profit.. Also this will give an option to upgrade Adam —> VDV/Mata next week if needed..

nope as I have jones, kompany, enrique and simpson....
          Adam, Nani, Silva, Petrov
          RVP, Adeb, Agbo

just to keep some money in bank in case if Adam don't perform this week... And 4pt hit wont affect me (which I hope) as my opponent this week in H2H hasn't got strong team and sitting at the bottom in mini league of 12... and I'm playing top 3 from week after...

Danny graham a good option as a cheap stiker 4.8million , im thinking after week 11 when i sell suarez to go 3-5-2

And if nasri or nani are rotated graham as first sub could come in and it would be 3-4-3 those weeks.

Like most people this week i'm stuck between captains either -

RVP the arsenal penalty taker against a strong stoke defence however they do play in Europe on Thursday night

      OR

Suarez against a weak Norwich defence he looks lively and the game is televised

I think i'm going to go with Suarez.

Well he is gonna miss zillion chances and you'll be frustrated. Don't complain then cause I am gonna reply I told ya 😀

He might score fantasy points but in a live game... I had that chance... Its so frustrating when you are seeing your captain in front of the goal, one on one and he misses. A lot of shoots on target and there we go again, Monday morning moaning about how come he has 1BP, he has 0 BP. Well I can't kope with that. After the Nor game arividerci Suarez!!!!!
