Back after our own international break, I bundle Mark into the studio for another podcast and slap him around the face with my Wildcard.

Rusty after a week of absence, we’re forced to get our tongues contorted around a variety of team names, even more baffling than Mark’s unshakable faith in Victor Moses. Yes, indeed, Wigan’s most unfortunate Fantasy flop gets another airing, with Mark mercilessly banishing the Latics to the Championship – surely the only solution to his blind spot.

Could Aguero be benched for the Wolves game? The Villareal game is in midweek and the Manchester derby is now. They won against Villa quite easily, so?

So are you asking a genuine question or just trying to spread rumours Daniel? Imo Aguero is Mancini's first choice striker, Check how many times he has played prem games against any other City striker, then guess. The one he missed was injury concern.

With the exception of maybe Man U, the EPL is the main concern of all the big English teams, and the best players can play most games on a regular basis

Barring injury or exceptional circumstances (eg Rooney international red card), I don't think we'll see hardly any voluntary resting of the big guns (eg Aguero, Rooney, Suarez or RvP) in the EPL

Can't decide on who to play, have 2 free transfers too.

    Krul
    Bos Enrique ward
    Mata Nani Silva m petrov
    Ade RVP Suarez

    Subs: vorm boyata r.Taylor dyer(swan)

Any ideas on should I drop the Manchester two or just hope for the best and depend on the rest.

I'm not sure why Ward is on ahead of Ryan Taylor. To be honest your team seems strong. Up front very strong this week. Maybe the Manchester players will cancel each other out this weekend, but is it worth transferring them out and then want them back when more favourable fixtures start. VDV maybe an option if you feel like transferring them out.

Use your free to get rid of Ward for a Stoke defender, bench them for this week and play R Taylor instead. Simple.

Why get rid of Ward? I know Wolves are leaky at the back but Swansea have lost all 4 away PL games and only scored 2 goals. Plus with Fletcher injured there's possibility of Ward playing as a striker

    Ramsey, Nani, Silva, Petrov
    Rooney(VC), Van Persie(C), Sturridge

Worried about having no Liverpool cover

    b) Rooney --> Suarez

And thats exactly what my post comment was based on really, points, so i understand there with the rooney point, you can always get rooney back no problem, jsut a case of re-shuffling, its not like 'lose him and he's gone forever', cant see him rising in price over next few game weeks anyway, whereas suarez probably will if he gets his brace, which he should do, no other better oppurtunity than now.

from one of the two, if you were to do it, it would have to be rooney short term, its a little risky not having pool cover over these next three fixtures really, depends if you've already used your wildcard or not to get rooney back to make it easier getting him back, or if you can just in general transfers then thats all good. I think aguero is the way to goas he's just as, maybe even more prolific than rooney.

I wonder if players follow their progress on FF. I imagine before the Spurs game that Pardew took Raylor and Simpson aside and said "look lads, one of you is going to have to make way for Santon at some point in this game", to which Ryan replied, "Look boss, I've scored 5 more points than Danny AND I'm on free kicks"..........

Right. No doubt it's been discussed loads and loads.
I think, at worst VDV will be "rested" this week. I would imagine Harry is still pissed off with him due to VDVs comments about not being happy on the wing (and generally being a moaning git).
I think Harry took this moaning on board but decided that Newcastle away was not the fixture to "punish" VDV for these remarks.
However, Blackburn away is a much easier fixture and Defoe has scored(again) since. Adebayor undroppable obviously.
At best...VDV pushed out to the right, where he's not happry.
At worst...Lennon on the right with Ade and Defoe up front with VDV rested for a game as a (delayed) punishment for his petulance.

Pure speculation from me...but this season who knows ?

Some massive assumptions there RCA. It seems to me they've moved on from whatever tension there was. Both have spoken to the media a couple times since vdv's sulk, arry praising vdv's goal scoring ability in his favoured position and vdv saying all the right things despite another early sub vs newc.

My heart says Stevie G ftw! I'm seriously fighting the urge to bring him in myself. Head says vdv looks a good punt for gw's 9 & 10 then swap for nani/young. Having Ade & Parker means arry can keep vdv wrapped in cotton wool this season seeing as 8 games a month is too much for his heartstring, I mean hamstring.

What about if starting next year they did a fantasy football for the premier league, championship, league one and league two with premiership status awarded first to players with the longest history and then random for the rest. Maybe about 600,000 in each division. Then maybe 100,000 managers each season get promoted/relegated each year. Good idea?

Quick question for anyone who still has their wildcard. Will you be using it before or after the January wildcard (GW20-23)?

After unless I get some bad injuries or my players go massively out of form.

When wildcarding in Jan, I will pick a team for say 8-10 weeks and then wildcard again where I can focus on the last 8 weeks of the season.

That does depend on postponements though as if a load of double game weeks come up in Feb time or something, I may use the second one earlier.

Not Chelsea. City's actually arent that good at that point either. Liverpool's downright suck at that point. Really your point is only true for United and Arsenal, if they even count as a big team.

Ok, so I wanted to keep this from you guys, but I just feel I need to be honest.

All you people getting Gerrard: you are aware he was awful last year. "O he wasn't at full health." Well, he seemed fine when he scored 2 against united last year. Then he sucked......for the rest of the year. He wads fine....he's just not all that anymore.

You are also aware that he played right wing last week, right? Not second striker, not in the hole, not even really attacking....wide right. You guys know that, right?

You also know he flubbed the free kick that scored, right? You know had he hit that 'right' he would have left that game with 2 points.

Also....are you aware he costs 11 million? Like, more than Nani, VDV, Silva, Nasri, and Mata? 11 million like.....Aguero's price? You guys think he's gonna have Aguero like production? Really?

OK, you got me on your hook.

He wasn't awful last year, he had genuinely pushed himself too far with a dodgy groin under dopey Hodgson's newly installed fitness team. He played with pain injections before it finally gave out in the spring.
The surgery in the summer was a complete success, it was only an infection that prevented him from returning sooner.
He is "all that"....still....he's only 31.
KingKenny played him on the right because he didn't want him maurauding through the centre against Utd. and leaving holes....BTW KingKenny got his tactics bang on and Utd's centre midfield was completely nullified for the whole game.
He will play central in the next 3 without a doubt.
Yes, I am aware he costs 11 million. This game is all about punts, right?

I agree.........I think he will continue to be the most influential Liverpool player this season and I have a feeling he will link up well with Suarez or Bellamy and keep Carroll out of the starting 11.............it is a shame he's 11M though lol

He was awful last year. We can make all the excuses we want, but if he was so messed up, why was he so good against United and so bad the rest of the year? Maybe I shouldn't say' bad' as much as 'bad fantasy-wise.' I'm espeically tired of all this blame towards Hodgson. Poor guy wasn't given any money to do anything, and had to deal with crappy Torres and his crappy Benitez friends the whole time.

By the way, last year: West Brom under Hodgson >>> Liverpool + CarrolandSuarez under Dogleash. Look it up.

King Kenny's tactics were bang on because United were playing a reserves team against them in midfield. The whole idea was just to keep Liverpool out by loading the midfield. Kenny's tactics got him nothing but a flubbed flukey free kick. Liverpool 'nulliefied' Fletcher ( defensive mid) Giggs( adittedly offensive) and Jones( a DEFENDER) What tactics?

I highly doubt he will play central midfield. Are they going to cut Adam or Lucas? I'm curious.

No, the game is not about punts. It's about making the best guesses possible. This isn't.

          Good points well made!

BUT...I wasn't blaming Hodgson man management or lack of funds.
He brought with him a specific fitness team to replace Benitez fitness team and it led directly to injuries to Agger and Gerrard.

Gerrard will play central or central/right in an attacking 3 against Norwich....Lucas is suspended.

          --------Carroll-------
          Downing Suarez Gerrard
          ----Adam Henderson-------

Anyway, thanks for the chat and good luck this season!!!

is there that much difference between a punt and a guess?

Against Norwich at home he may well cut Adam or Lucas as they're both playing as holding midfielders which in my opinion is too defensive.

If not he'll stick with the 4-2-3-1 and Gerrard will be behind Suarez

Just to let you all know, my internet gaming company have tendered for the contactual rights to control EPL fantasy football next year in which I promised that on the first day of the season you will all transmit your player selections to me via morse code, and then approximately ten weeks after GW38 you will be posted one sheet of A4 with a hand drawn crayon picture of your team and on the reverse will be an approximation of your final score which I have added up using an abacus

I am currently the preferred bidder

Seriously though, the new guys are just about getting there I think? Just need league rankings and I think thats about it?

Do you guys really actually think United will struggle to score against everton away? How is that a tough fixture, considering Everton this year. One clean sheet so far. One. If VD plays striker, this is a great transfer, if not, Nani only has one tough fixture....and its against a team he put TWO past last time he played them.

To be fair, Everton played very well defensively and very conservatively for most of the Manchester City game and also defended well with 10 men against Liverpool. I agree that United will score, but probably not that many.

Good points. I do think the reason City didn't score was mostly due to their lack of width, since Nasri and Silva kept dive bombing the middle into triple Everton coverage. I also think Liverpool's offense is extremely overrated, so keeping them out isn't a huge deal to me. Also, remember Why Suarez scored that second goal: massive defensive misscommunication. Bad defending against Chelsea too, really.

I think I'll leave that particular transfer for now. Got more on my mind about who to play in defence now since I have Simpson and he may be ousted by Santon or may not play at all.

Yeah I'm a big Spurs fan........which means I'm smart enough to not get too excited, because it means disappointment is looming.

Plus I just can't justify VDV right now, espeically if he plays wide and keeps whining.
