You know the drill by now. You soak up the Scout Picks and then we deliver some alternative options that have slipped further down the Fantasy menu. Obscure dishes they may be, but these guys have the potential to reward returns to help close the yawning gaps on your mini-league rivals.

Joe Allen

Since Kemy Agustien suffered a hamstring injury last month, Joe Allen has impressed in his new starting role at Swansea; he has played every minute of the last four games, picking up two assists, as well as 2 Bonus Points for his man of the match performance against Stoke.

At just 5’7”, Allen is no midfield destroyer, but his naturally creative play and clever touch makes him an ideal pivot for the side. Allen sits slightly deeper in midfield, but because of the way Swansea play this means he sees a lot more of the ball; it doesn’t restrict him from getting forward and involved in the attacking build-up play. In fact, in the last 4 games, he has had more touches, made more passes in the opposition half, made more assist attempts and scored more FPL points than any other Swansea player, bar Scott Sinclair.

Although Sinclair is easily the most attacking player in the Swansea midfield, it is Nathan Dyer who has picked up the most investors over the first few weeks; his bargain price of 4.8m has seen him pick up over 13% of all FPL managers. Joe Allen in the meantime, has quietly snuck under the radar with just 0.5% but, at 4.5, offers potentially even greater value and looks a strong differential option if you’re struggling for cash.

Kyle Walker

The Spurs back four is in a sorry state right now, with injuries robbing Harry Redknapp of first choice centre-backs. The fact is, however, clean sheets are generally hard to come by across the board and once again Fantasy managers are left looking for attacking returns to help justify the outlay on a mid-price defender. In the case of Kyle Walker, there’s clear potential in this area.

Walker’s glorious match-winning strike against Arsenal provided the latest evidence of his threat in the opponents’ half and, with strong fixtures to come offering the potential of attacking returns, the right-back looks well positioned to contribute some points via his raiding runs down the flank.

A trip to Blackburn this weekend could be the start of those – Rovers’ home form is pretty poor and, with 10 goals conceded in four matches, you’d expect Spurs to come away with a couple, even if a clean sheet perhaps looks beyond them. At 5.4 in the FPL, Walker is a gamble but with just 1.8% ownership and the growing trend leaning towards investment in Stoke’s back four, he represents a clear differential.

Dedryck Boyata

While Bolton have had a few awful moments this season (yes Adam Bodgan, we’re looking at you), their place at the bottom of the table has more to do with a horrendous run of fixtures than anything else. As things start to ease up, however, we’re able to take another look at some of the potential targets in the Trotters’ ranks and with the entire team bar Gary Cahill and Martin Petrov being overlooked by the masses, there are plenty of differential options to consider.

Dedryck Boyata looks a solid starter and has the potential to provide returns at both ends of the pitch making him a bargain at just 4.0. Owned by 0.9% of FPL managers compared to Gary Cahill’s 26% (yep, we’re still scratching our heads on that one), he could be a great value pick for Bolton’s next three (SUN, swa, STK).

Chris Eagles

Take two Bolton players into the gameweek? Maybe. While Martin Petrov looks the safer investment for those seeking to plunder Bolton’s attacking potential against Sunderland and beyond, Chris Eagles is arguably a more “explosive” option with a greater goal threat.

A 15-goal return in 42 appearances for Burnley last season presents proof of Eagles’ potential- he’s hinted at this in spells for Bolton, firing in efforts on goal and taking his fair share of set-piece efforts. Eagles will go into the clash with the Black Cats in impressive form, off the back of a Man of the Match display against Wigan last weekend which produced 13 FPL points. While he’s struggled to cement a starting role in Owen Coyle’s side, Eagles should have no issues this weekend and, if he can replicate his goal and assist returns from the Wigan game, could be a decent prospect in the mid-term given Bolton’s fixtures.

At just 5.3 in the FPL and with an ownership of just 4.5%, the Eagles option looks the obvious route for those Fantasy managers yet to be convinced by Petrov or those looking to reserve some funds.

Is RVP REALLY going to be rested? I'm tempted to go RVP > Suarez and S Petrov > Moses letting me do Agbonlahor > Aguero next GW. Improves fixtures for all. Madness or mercurial?

Mmm true. Okay, so if he does play against Stoke will he have a hard time anyway? Stoke have a pretty solid defence whereas Norwich haven't kept a CS and Liverpool have 3 good fixtures including them. Can't shake feeling I should stay ahead of the game and take Suarez for those 3.

Long term I like VDV some sort of Bolton cover as a good run on its way for the midfielders maybe not so much the defence, some sort of stoke defensive cover both should be affordable on your budget maybe Rambo at 6.5. Think about Kompany out to free up some cash.

If I was you, I'd look at downgrading Bosingwa or Kompany and spending some money elsewhere. A very expensive defence you have there when defences are'nt keeping many clean sheets this season.

You shouldn't be starting Dyer or Moses regularly - they are both bench fodder in my opinion. Upgrade one to a Ramsey/Walter/Petrov (at minimum) type player.

Lita sitting on your bench is useless. Look at downgrading RVP or Rooney and having one of them plus Adebayor and Suarez, or Sturridge/Agbonlahor if you can't afford the both of them. I reckon a 3-4-3 is getting the most points this season.

My suggestions - not the gospel of course!

RVP will almost certainly get rested in my book but may be on the bench if Arsenal need to be rescued. All you need to know is the history between Stoke and Arsenal to know that there is a good chance of an Arsenal injury occurring. Arsenal cannot afford to lose RVP to injury so this makes the perfect time to rest him, especially as Stoke play badly away and after playing a European fixture two days earlier

When you are 4 points off a CL place, 12 points off the leader, and RVP is coming into the form of the season for him is not the time to rest him.

Do you really think Arsenal are chasing the premierleague tital? I think securing a champions league place will certainly satisfy the Arsenal supporters. They are in no place to challenge for the tital. If RVP gets injured now Arsenal may never recover. Also Chamak probably needs game time

That's no indication that he's going to rest him this gameweek, but there will be a time when he will have to. Probably when Arse are guaranteed to get through the CL group stage.

Argh still stressing over RVP vs. Suarez armband dilemma.

I'm thinking Suarez at the moment - Stoke are not a pushover and tight defensively even though they might be tired after Europa League. Norwich, on paper, looks an easier game.

Anyone have a convincing reason why it should be RVP?

I am captaining Suarez but I dont have RVP. Will be more than relieved if Suarez scores well as I think Norwich are going to give them a tough game. Stoke away are not as solid defensively as at home and RVP is rounding into top form. If I had him, I would captain him.

Stoke's away record is pretty bad, and with the additional fact that they always underperform after a midweek European game then I'm plumping for RVP.

Could easily swap him for Suarez and captain him but gut feel says that it would be a waste of a transfer.

I think he probably will play, but with three easy-ish fixtures I think Kenny will take this as the ideal time to give Carroll some much needed game time so he probably will be midfield as opposed to hole/second striker as he is sometimes deployed

If only there was points related to kilometres run/effort then Dirk would be first name on the team sheet every week but as it is his return is risky - but towards the end of last season he was bringing in big points

Carroll has been god-awful this season and no matter how much he cost them then he's unlikely to get more than a 20 minute run-out unless he starts delivering the goods.

Its the same on the front page and in members. Im using FF btw. Same for everyone?

Anyone know if the FFS team are aware as I havent been on this week.

City will beat Utd 2 1 on sunday.
United s defence is dodgy at best and citys is solid. They will play 1 up front and Aguero will have a field day against a overrated Ferdinand and only coming back Vidic.
      So get on City!!!

I am entertaining the same option. I think it's a toss up in terms of goal scoring potential and Sturridge is the one who has been putting the ball in the net. The only reason I have it Suarez right now is Liv at home and the influence of Gerrard.

I'm really uncertain about RVP (C). If there is a chance that he will be rested, he will most likely be on the bench and come on late when Arsenal need to win the match. The could potentially mean 1 point for him. So the question is: should I have RVP (C) and Adebayor (VC), or Adebayor (C)???

I would sell Nasri and get a 6 to 7 midfielder so you have enough cash to begin working on your bench. You have practically no bench whatsoever and you need one. The best considerations right now would be in the following order: Ramsey, Larsson, Walters, MPetrov, Sinclair, Brunt. For the future get rid of Barton and if possible Ferguson and buy another mid from above. Sell De Laet and get a 4.0/.1 defender that plays. I would also get rid of Nani cause you already have Rooney and buy Silva for Man City coverage, forget about Aguero and get Adebayor cause you most definitely need Tottenham coverage. Something like this would give you really good depth from top teams....

Mata CH, Silva MC, Ramsey AR, (Larsson or Walters)
Rooney MU, Suarez LI, Adebayor TH

Leave Drogba to Adebayor for next week. Get rid of Barton for this week and get Ramsey, Larsson or MPetrov. Take hit next week for Nasri to Walters (really good prospect for weeks 10,11,12,13 and also cause he is playing as a forward in the real game) and Drogba to Adebayor. Then for the following weeks start working on your bench and also depending on a good week to do the change Nani to Silva. Think long term here you need a little bit of everything from top teams and rotation from mid-table teams. Having a bench is key for rotating any of Larsson, Ramsey, Walters, ect... depending on their home games and who they play on a particular week. Your defense is weak too, Enrique is your best player. Simpson has a very tough schedule coming up. Naylor is a good rotation player with two other cheap defenders that play in teams that could have a good chance at home to get clean sheets.

Spurs defence at the best of times is mince. With no Dawson or King its very ropey regardless of fixtures

It depends if you could put the extra £0.4m to good use. If not, then Bassong may be a decent shout, but be mindful that you'll need to ship him in a couple of weeks once the first teamers return from injury

"On Monday I decide always to rest him and on Friday I play him again.

"I don't know about Sunday. We will assess everybody on Saturday morning, then I'll make the decision on the day. But I will have to rotate a little bit."

There's always a chance he (RVP) might just be rested.
