Arsenal’s win at Sunderland last weekend was not just another odds on victory for the London side, it also marked a number of milestones. Wenger’s misfiring gunners hit the top half of the table for the first time this season, Robin van Persie scored the quickest goal of the season, but, more significantly, when the Dutchman curled in his second-half free-kick, he gave the Fantasy Flutter another win over our betting buddies over at Paddy Power.

After a couple of minor victories on short prices, a return on “to score in both halves” at 13/2 was the mini windfall we’ve been looking for. Did you take up the bet and share our glory?

Not to worry – we’re looking to capitalise on our win last week with another array of markets that include the likes of José Enrique, Clint Dempsey, Martin Petrov and Gabby Agbonlahor. As it’s a big derby weekend, we have forgone the usual accumulator and forged two special bet markets to consider. Read on to find out just what’s on offer in this week’s Fantasy Flutter.

Since his move from the Magpies in the summer transfer window, José Enrique has quickly acclimatised to Liverpool’s style and his attacking instincts have already brought returns via assists and Fantasy Premier League (FPL) bonus points. A favourable home fixture against Norwich will grant Enquire the opportunity to use his pace down the left and feed Luis Suarez and his attacking counterparts. Although Paddy’s price of evens for no booking and a clean-sheet is tempting, a straight up assist at 7/2 walks the tightrope between probability and value enough for £2 of our money.

Fulham’s Clint Dempsey’s has so far failed to fire on all cylinders. He’s still racked up a couple of goals and assists and, having been rested for Thursday’s Europa League tie, he’ll be fresh and ready for the visit of Everton to the Cottage. Paddy have Dempsey to score from a header at 12/1, but the more reserved 13/2 to net from outside the box takes our £1 on this occasion.

Last week’s win at Wigan gave Bolton the lift they needed – off the bottom of the table, they’ll go into their Reebok clash with Sunderland with some much needed confidence. Warhorse strikers Kevin Davies and Ivan Klasnić have both had moments of real quality in front of goal this term, but it’s Martin Petrov that’s been Bolton most consistent Fantasy performer. Petrov’s four assists and single booking looks good for Paddy’s “assist and no booking” market at 3/1, although we’ve gone with the “Petrov assist and Bolton clean-sheet” at 10/1 for our £1.

Another consistent Fantasy earner, Gabby Agbonlahor has cleaned up with bonus points, goals and assists, marking a mockery of his modest initial valuation. The fleet-heeled Villa striker will be up against a confident West Brom defence after their clean sheet in the derby with Wolves last week, but Gabby’s quality is favoured to win through this time around. An assist and a goal at 12/1 looks like massive value, having achieved this market twice already this season, and for a £2 stake we’re willing to ride the risk for the potential bounty.

Head to Head… to Head

This weekend sees three in form strikers vying for your Fantasy captaincy, and Paddy have accommodated this choice with a “Who Will Score the Most Goals” market. Robin van Persie seems the standout choice, having an easier fixture against Europa weary Stoke on Sunday, yet the “Battle of Manchester” could make a hero of Sergio Aguero or Wayne Rooney. We’ll take Rooney at 15/8 for £2 of our money to outscore his two rivals in this market.

Derby Goals

If all that wasn’t enough, you could try out Paddy’s Derby Goals Special to see how many the three fixtures will rack up. The Baggies visit Villa, Chelsea visit QPR and Man City take on the Red Devils at Old Trafford to make up our derby trilogy. Paddy post over and under 7.5 goals as the the bar. For 11/8 we’re going go a conservative £2 on under 7.5 goals across the three matches.

Money Back Specials – Battle of Manchester

Top of the bill for Paddy’s Money Back specials this week – if Wayne Rooney scores in the game with City, Paddy Power will refund all losing 1st /last goalscorer, correct score and scorecast singles on the match.

They’re also presenting us with a couple more Premier League offers – if Steven Gerrard scores the last goal in the game with Norwich at Anfield, Paddy will refund all losing 1st/last goalscorer, correct score and scorecast singles on the match.

Similarly, at Loftus Road, if Daniel Sturridge scores the last goal of the game, Paddy will refund all losing 1st/last goalscorer, correct score and scorecast singles on the match.

Register and Bet £10 And Get £20 Free

If you’re new to this betting lark and new to Paddy Power then you can take up any of these odds and offers and get yourself a bonus. You can sign up via this site and get a free £20 when you register an account and bet a tenner.

Finally of course, we should state that all these offers are only available to those aged 18 and over and are subject to Paddy Power’s terms and conditions. Also, if you’re going to bet, always gamble responsibly.

no, it'll cost me 4 points. the alternative is i keep rooney, and just ship-out ramires for someone, but the pickings are slim for under 8mil in the midfield bracket - just can't bear the thought of putting petrov in there, it's just too depressing.

Just a word of warning for those saying liverpool have great fixtures.

    1. Away to WBA is definitely not easy anymore. Check WBA's recent home form - conceded very few
    2. Home games against promoted teams aren't as easy as they look on paper. These teams are motivated beyond belief, and would absolutely love a draw - Bus to be parked. United were lucky to beat norwich, who were very well organized, at OT.
    3. After these 3 games, liverpool have bad fixtures

People might be going a bit overboard with the liverpool excitement

and even if he does - he often plays well without getting any points. Even with better fixtures I don't think Suarez is ever a nailed on captain choice. He doesn't have that backup of penalties or free kicks to get him out of jail when he has a bad game.

I've got to captain Suarez because the guy above league leader has him and will undoubtedly captain him over his other striker, Rooney. I don't have anyone else who can be the differential and being in second place means I have to keep pace at the very least.

Sturridge has played every game he's be eligible to play even when Torres was not suspended. I understand the anxiety of him playing at the start of the season (well after his suspension) but he plays week in week out and seems as certain of a starting roll as most others.

    Silva>VDV? For a 4 pt hit?

I saw this is another thread & initially thought "madness"... But looking at citys fixture list holistically, silva is shirley going to be rested for the two champs lge games vs villareal & napoli. This leaves him with utd away & qpr away as his most likely starts in the next 4 weeks?

VDV on the other hand isnt even in spuds euro squad. And to be fair there is a good chance of him outscoeing silva by 4 today which immediately takes the pressure off the transfer.

Is this trying to be too clever? I have a nagging feeling i could be 10-15 pts better off by doing it by GW12

I wouldn't take Silva out for him though.

Silva is likely to be the top scoring mid this season and he plays in a team that has been scoring for fun.

Spurs are still not in Man Utd or Man City or even Chelsea's class yet. Blackburn away is the kind of game they usually slip up in. Look at what Man City did to Spurs in GW3! Spurs should beat Blackburn though so if you have VdV this week then he's a good captain choice.

But I would not get rid of Silva for him. No way!

    (1) Kompany
    (2) Dyer
[ (3) Change Ramires for someone who has a same or lesser price]

    and

    Who to captain?
    (A) Suarez
    (B) VDV

Suarez seem better, but I can see Tottenham racking points against Blackburn. Also, Suarez hasn't yet delivered a great amount of points in a single week and I can see Suarez playing less than 90 minutes because Liverpool has a hard Carling Cup game midweek (away against Stoke).

I suppose unlike the Manchester clubs Arsenal just don't have the strength in depth to rest him. Besides he is pivotal to everything they do without him they will be absolutely stuffed.

Yep. He will also have a full week off with league cup this week. I imagine he will play at least 60-70 mins against stoke. Plenty of time to pick up his obligatory 13 home points:-)

I dont think Wenger can afford to rest rvp in league matches yet. Arsenal really need to concentrate on the league. However, if they're 2 goals to the good with 25 mins to play i can definitely see him being hauled off.

All I can say both have played a fair amount this season which would suggest they are normal first picks but it is Fergie so who knows. I would say 90% one of them will play and 75% both.

that is tricky. gut instinct says keep young (he's got the same points as nani but having played 60 mins less), but nani will probably score more goals over the season. whoever you choose, you will be made to regret it by the gods of FPL

Which is precisely the reason why I'm not going to make the Nani to VdV trade today, Frogville.

I just know if I do it the Fantasy Gods will smite me for it by making Nani have a pearler of a game and VdV get subbed on 59 mins after being booked and no goals or assists!!!
