A strong run of upcoming fixtures sees Kyle Walker make a significant jump in our recently updated Watchlist rankings.

With clean sheet returns at an absolute minimum of late – a mere five have been recorded right across the board in the previous two Gameweeks – the hunt is on for defenders who can deliver at the attacking end of the field. There’s little doubt that Tottenham’s schedule affords Walker a better chance of returns than the majority of Fantasy defenders on offer right now.

Priced at 5.5 in Fantasy Premier League (FPL), Walker is not exactly a cut-price option but a goal, assist and 3 bonus points in his last three games highlight his strength going forward. With Harry Redknapp’s side in a rich vein of form, his ability to lend weight to their attacking ploys could be crucial, as Fantasy managers scratch around for points at the back.

Indeed, a look at the FPL points so far show Walker, with 31, is third-top for Spurs, behind only Rafael Van der Vaart and Emmanuel Adebayor and ahead of the likes of Luka Modric (30) and Gareth Bale (26). His points total for the season is just a couple behind both Jose Enrique and Jose Bosingwa, though while the pair have ownership of 27.8% and 26.5% respectively, Walker has remained well under the radar- so far, he’s been selected by a mere 2.5% of FPL managers.

With (QPR, ful, AVL, wba, BOL, sto) to come in the next six, then, the Fantasy potential is obvious – if injuries at the back can clear, Spurs may even surpass our expectations for clean sheets in that spell. Certainly, if they are to maintain the form that has seen them win five out of six games, Walker’s barnstorming right flank runs could prove pivotal as Redknapp’s side look to push on in their quest for a Champions League slot.

The Carling Cup could be something special this season. I have a feeling Arsenal and Tottenham will be drawn against each other but not United and City. However, more importantly- COME ON PALACE! Cardiff (H/A) or Blackburn (H) and the Eagles could quite realistically be in the Semi-Finals!

Potentially 4. Although your ROI may not be so high this week.

Rooney is due another brace although concerned how deep he played on Sunday.

Sorry to re-post guys, just caught the end of the one previous.

Just wondered who other people were captaining this gameweek? VDV a wise choice still? just transferred him in and would hate for it to backfire if his good streak may come to a close, knowing my luck it will, so my other alternatives are suarez, RVP, torres, or gerrard?

    thoughts welcome and appreciated 🙂

Torres for me, He will be out with a big point to prove after his champions league performances, RVP is tough might not even score, Gerrard i wouldnt go there, west brom are on a good run and same with suarez! Torres or VDV, VDV safer option but torres could be good if no one else has him

5 weeks ago I thought the Torres bandwagon was a joke to be honest. But it looks like he's back, 4 goals in his last 180 mins of football, looks like a re-born player, and will be hungry after 3 weeks out.

I have no doubt he will go nuts in the next month or two. Need to get him in my team ASAP. Just can't quite do it this week without ridiculous hits...

If I had him I would have not doubt whatsoever in handing him the armband.

i agree i knew he would hit good form again with torres, just didnt think it would return so quickly to be honest, i have great faith in the guy what can i say lol. think i may risk it and give him the garter 🙂

Man im having a hard decision between Silva//VDV, think i might be going with VDV just because im certain he will play and he is on top form, scoring goals. Think he is worth it all the way, especially if you got him in that must mean he is ur man of the moment so keep faith with ur choice to get him in!

Y'alright matey!! haha nice to see you here, yeah i couldnt help myself haha!! got back home, watched all tonights footie, and all the way had this itchy feeling to put torres in, so i did just that, at my expense of a couple of hits though, but all for long term, i am not touching my transfers now until a few weeks maybe a month down the line barring injury.

that aside, feel like ive got my team the way i want it now. hmmmm i would go vdv in your case mate, i might too, silva isn't guarenteed a start but feel he will play around 60 mins, i just hate the rotation confusion surrounding city, nasri could fill his void, but i got rid of him to avoid the confusion and anger if he doesnt play. 🙂

You bloody mentalist... I'm hoping for you now that he does well against Arsenal, which is always a possibility knowing his form at the moment!! You cheeky bum tho haha, knew you would fall to ur torres love.

Mate seems like you have done the best decision getting rid of nasri, I was watching city tonight and was like 'ahh man i really want to get balotelli or a city striker in' but then remembered that i would hate the annoying nature of rotation within their team! I'm gonna go with VDV and cross my fingers cause my bloody captain choices are always awful. Who do you think you are leaning towards now then?

With regards to city, im just always keeping kompany and silva they seem most nailed on along with hart ha! But Aguero comes soon after that so i might look into it and see if i can sneak him in at some point. Hoping Rooney starts doing well too... need some points from my ffront three because they haven't been doing much for me recently! Otherwise I'm gonna have to change it up!
So what's ur front 7 now then?

haha!! im a sucker for it, just liek having the guy in my team, i have great faith so i think he ill do well overall.

i know yeah, even if nasri does play i wont regret it, coz he can do great one week and then maybe not play for the next 4! so im glad to get rid, however no united or city covers scared teh crap outta me haha.

yeah i feel the pain surrounding city though, VDV has form and a great fixture, i just hope the two collide and makes way for heavy point haulage.

well my team now is: Given, Enrique, Naylor, Assou-Ekotto, Walters, VDV, Gerrard, Ramsey, Suarez, RVP, Torres. Subs: Ruddy, Simpson, DeLaet Ferguson. Ignore the latter two 🙂

Aguero looks a greater option than Rooney to me at the moment, be good to look into, but having rooney he can score well at everton, should do anyway. i am very tempted to captain Torres 🙂

Haha well thats the kind of player you are and if it rakes in the points for you then i doubt you will be crying much!! And you will be flying up that table shortly ha!

I think i need to take more risks in places too... but im planning to do alot of that within a possible WC next week!

Yea i hope VDV proper plays well again like last week, but then thinking a bit into it he usually doesnt have 2 consecutively good games... still not sure atm! Silva may come into the equation for sure.

Well for your team i would defo play Ruddy this week buddy! Aguero does look better but i dont think its so much worth the 4 point hit knowing that Rooney could do just as well in the everton game... could come back with a bash!
I'm in favour of ur Torres captaining, it might provide you with a huge differential mate and get you up ur league... think he could do you proud for sure!

Haha cheers for the Torres pick me up, i think he will really help me claw back up the leagues im in, i know i will end up captaining him so i may as well say it, i'm gonna captain him! He's at home, playing well, arsenal shoddy defence, should be a winner in all respects.

No i reckon your doing the right thing mate, i wish to god i still had my wildcard, leave the risks until after int.break and after your wildcard, besides you cant be doing that bad overall, where you ranked?

I reckon silva will play, he needs a run out before villareal and wolves provides him with just that, pity i dont have him but im risking it without.

Yeah i gorgot to mention given on my bench, ruddy is between the sticks for me this GW. Rooney should by rights get at least 2 against everton, plus with Drenthe now out the threat is little, plus baines isn't the best so far.

Again it looks good for us this gameweek, but this time with no derby to throw a spanner in the works, it has to succeed ha! 🙂

Hopefully he will play a big part in getting back that 12 pointer you made!!

Haha yea true, I'm not doing too badly think im like 300k or so overall with 448 points... hopefully that will shoot up soon. I'm trying to decide whether or not this forum is actually helping me out or not, maybe in transfers but not captaining people... ha.

Yea im hoping a little for that now, some gd points from Rooney would go a long way to climbing up the league! A lot of my league don't have VDV as yet, unless they have him in now... but still should overall beat em this week.

Oh yeah that aint bad at all, and plenty of time to claw up into the top 100K, as i hope i will be doing within a months time or bit more. each season ive got much better and always start liek this, jsut hope the trend continues.

I think it helps, but depends on how much you take the advice and help given, instead i try to mix my own gut feeling with people's opinions and find a match, but mostly should go with you gut anyway, its our teams, therefore our own acts etc.

The safe option is VDV. The gamble is Aguero as if he plays from start could get a hattrick.

    Vorm (BOL)
Shawcross (NEW) Enrique (wba) Kompany (WOL)
Moses (FUL) Van der Vaart (QPR) Silva (WOL) Sinclair (BOL)
Suarez (wba) RVP (che) Sturridge (ARS)

Watching Wigan games Moses has goals written all over him. But I agree that in FPL terms, "almost" is as good as "not anywhere near", and I keep Moses only because I have more expensive players to get rid of.

Morning all... so, I'm thinking Bosingwa could do well attacking-wise against Arsenal this week- is it likely to be Santos at LB?

I was considering dropping Rooney for Aguero this week, but I'm now thinking United could unleash a backlash against a tired Everton team. Having already made one free transfer this week (Mata->VDV) I was thinking I could drop Bosingwa for Shawcross, or I could go with my hunch about Bosingwa and just keep my spare transfer for next week. Whaddayareckon?

I've made the Bos > ShawX switch already and in no way regret it. While I realise CS are hard to come by or predict, the one thing you can rely on is that Chelsea won't keep one. Might as well get an attacking defender from Blackburn or Wigan.

I dunno, they may destroy QPR but then again QPR have as many clean sheets as Man City and as many as United and Chelsea combined. Having said that, Adebayor up against Fitz Hall could be a terrible mis-match.

Michael Turner at 4.3m anyone? Largely due to injury he's been in the wilderness for a while (he accumulated 122 points for Hull in their 08/09 relegation battle despite not having one clean sheet) but Sunderland are on a 33% ratio for clean sheets, the balance of their upcoming fixtures is very reasonable, he's proved his goal scoring abilities and he now looks good for a long term starts. His PPG ratio is only 2.3 but that figure is very much a buy not a sell in my book.

Only 376 people this gameweek have thus far thought him worthy of investment which also makes him a tasty differential in my book.

    Wisdom or folly?

yeah, could totally happen. Playing 4,3,3 is a bit of a drastic change though and it may not be worth it. They are still getting results at the moment, maybe when the s**t hits the fan he could change it up

hmm your right, VDV will be rested occasionally but I still reckon he will be played most of the time. A weeks rest will be all he needs, he will start this weekend. The thing with City though is there is class everywhere and Mancini needs to accommodate them all with game time. This could be Silvers turn to be benched and Nasri's turn to shine

I am anxious to hear the comments but I am seriously thinking of getting Milner, it seems he will start this gw since both Nasri and AJ played CC and the games he has played he has done very well....comments?

Not good enough for the money still... Sturridge is only 4 points behind him in half the minutes, and has had one huge week- Suarez hasn't hit double figures in a gameweek yet. Aguero's done this 3 times and is only 1.6m more.

He'll do well, no doubt. Others will do better though.

Quite high, Im keeping my eye on him because I wont be able to afford Rooney but will be able to afford Hernandez. This guy knows how to find the back of the net consistantly

I'm thinking of wildcarding in the GW11 international break. If Hernandez is in favour I can have this team.

      Krul, Vorm
      Baines, Kompany, Brown, Wilkinson, Simpson
      Silva, Nani, Sinclair, Brunt, Moses
      RVP, Hernandez, Sturridge.

      Thoughts?

Only 3 big hitters? you really need at least 4 if not 5. Some people even have 6!

I think having five "big hitters" is going to seriously imbalance your team- your defence will be dirt and your midfield will have some crap in there too.

Using Hernandez rather than Rooney helps, but it's still tight.

I'm not sure Baines is going to be worth it this season- Drenthe is taking some set pieces off him.

again that depends if your big hitters are worth 12m or 10m, I dont think 5 players at around 10m each is a serious problem. Also a cheap defense with say Kompany is probably the way to go, its not as if there are going to be lots of clean sheets with the way this season has gone so far

Yeah he will start up front this week. Aguero will be out wide if he plays. How long can Belotelli keep it up and stay top dog up front? your guess is as good as mine
