The Captain poll for Gameweek ten is now in full swing with well over a thousand votes already collected. As expected, Tottenham’s Rafael Van der Vaart dominates with a third of the vote so far. The outspoken Dutchman goes into a home clash with QPR having scored a brace at Blackburn, while Neil Warnock’s men arrive having been spanked 6-0 on their last away trip. Van der Vaart’s owners will go into the weekend with all the confidence and swagger of the player himself.

While team-mate Emmanuel Adebayor also surfs the wave of optimism surrounding Tottenham’s chances on Sunday, having collected 8% of the vote, he is separated from Van der Vaart by City’s prime attacking specimens – David Silva and Sergio Aguero.

Gloriously omitted from last night’s team-sheet, confidence in Roberto Mancini’s selection will now be building and there’s an obvious swell of opinion that backs both players to start against Wolves on Saturday. The forthcoming trip to Villareal on Wednesday remains a concern however; those handing Silva and Aguero the armband will surely do so with a strong Vice Captain option in place.

A slew of strikers then follow – Mario Balotelli – another omitted from Manicini’s midweek lineup, earns fifth spot. Luis Suarez’ reputation received a timely boost with a classy double in last night’s win at Stoke and he sits next in our poll. His owners will now be seeking confirmation of a clean bill of health, having seen him wince and limp from the Britannia turf late on.

Wayne Rooney takes the fight to Goodison on Saturday lunchtime for the early midday kick-off. He’ll be given his usual reception, spiced up by the recent red card in Montenegro and Sunday’s demolition at the hands of rivals City. It could go either way for Rooney – we suspect that Saturday’s game won’t be without incident. Alex Ferguson will surely be firing up his men following the Old Trafford drubbing but, at the same time, the United boss will likely have to curb Rooney’s “enthusiasm” against his former club.

Surprisingly perhaps, Robin Van Persie sits in mid-table position in the poll. Despite four goals in his last two league outings, obviously the prospect of facing the Chelsea defence is providing a barrier for his owners. Andre Villa-Boas is unlikely to feel quite so confident about putting the buffers on the prolific Dutchman, however – he’s seen his side concede in eight of their nine games this season and, with Arsenal’s defence equally obliging, goals in Saturday’s clash look likely.

If you’ve yet to cast your vote this week, don’t forget to fire it off via the homepage before Friday night when our final votes will be collected.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

Anyone know what keeper rotates well with Vorm from now on?

I have Krul and think apart from the odd game they go well until approaching the winter WC.

I have Given now but WC this week so was looking to shift. Bit worried about GW 12 with Krul and Vorm as they have the Manchester clubs. Only other option I'm considering is Begovic. They rotate reasonably from what i can tell

Bego and Vorm only rotate home/away from gw21 onwards? I would stick until Krul's fixtures improve then consider the switch.

I just knee jerked Suarez right out of my team. Kneed him good. Knee jerked balotteli right in there as well. Will I be crying into my blanket on the weekend or getting a call from the people at Walkers crisps asking me to look after a team in the midlands in honour of my masterstroke. You decide.

2 reasons why I think Silva will start vs Wolves:

1: He was 'rested' only 2 games ago at home to Villa.
2: He didn't play any part vs Wolves last night.

Yes, they play next Wednesday but can't see Silva not starting a game for a week.

Aguero is the same. He didn't play at all vs Villa and didn't play last night either.

It just looks to me like both Silva & Aguero will start.

Aguero didn't play against Villa due to injury though, and unless I am mistaken aside from that game and the opening day of the season he has featured in every PL game.

Silva would be a good enough captain choice. I have both Given and Suarez and am saving my transfer, but it's a tough question.

Will Aguero out score suarez by 4 pts?

    Will Aguero start?

Current captaincy: Adebayor (C), VDV (vc), Aguero in and give him the big (C)?

Fingers crossed that suarez does nothing and Aguero outscores VDV, no doubt everyone above me in my main mini league will captain him...

My captaincy choices have been terrible this year, i've gotta get it right at some point!!!!

Hand on heart, the more i think about it, the more im tempted to get rid of Suarez this week. I still dont trust us much away (or at home for that matter after last week) WBA are hitting a bit of form and i still think Woy would like to put another one over us again this week. I know next week we have Swansea but again i dont think that will be a walk over like the Norwich game was. After that our fixtures are tough so im tempted to make the move now. Who for? Im not quite sure yet 🙂

Thing is tho, we dont score enough goals. When i look at someone like Balotelli, scoring for fun in a team scoring and creating chances for fun. I think he will probably outscore Suarez against WOL and qpr, fair enough he might be out the side after then but ill worry about that then.

Doing Suarez to Ballotelli now feels like its 2 gameweeks early for me. I want to see a few more weeks of Ballotelli before I jump on. My strategy was to do Suarez > Ade and Aguero > RVP in GW12, but if Ballo continues to deliver I may well go Suarez > Ballotelli myself

You need Utd coverage long run and Rooney is the prime candidate, followed by Nani.
Think Young will begin to get rotated now with Valencia almost fit and Youngs form this season has dipped since the Arsenal game

Nobody talking about Bendtner as a transfer in? 2 goals and an assist in his last 2 starts with 5 bonus - Hes the go to guy on a Sunderland team whose fixtures are on the verge of massive improvement. Nobody wants to bring him in, but I think he will outscore Rooney through gw 15 and may offer more funds for the Midfield, for those having problems bringing in a Nani or VDV or Silva.
