After waiting all season to jump in the Rolls Royston, I had the Dutchman all written up as a Differential and the mouse hovering over the โ€˜confirm transfersโ€™ button only for the inevitable red card to ruin my Everton-related Differential dreams.

Growing up as an Everton fan does prepare you somewhat for footballing disappointments, so despite having to throw that one back in the pond for another week, I managed to pick myself up in time to fish out another three for you to chew over. As we continue our countdown to Gameweek Ten then, it’s time to look over the Scout Selection Committee’s Differential picks for this week…..

James Milner

With such a rich source of midfield talent available, rest and rotation is a big problem to anyone considering investing in Man City, particularly with their Champions League involvement to factor in. Against all the odds, though, it is James Milner who looks the most rotation proof right now. Nothing is guaranteed where Roberto Mancini is involved of course, butย Milner is the only attacking midfielder to have started all of the last three league matches, and as Samir Nasri and Adam Johnson both started in the Carling Cup tie on Wednesday, itโ€™s pretty clear where he sits in the pecking order at present.

A look through the FPL statistics for the season throws up a lot of unexpected results; if you work it out on a โ€˜per minute playedโ€™ basis then Milner has a better EA PPI and overall points return than David Silva, and has also picked up more bonus points. Priced at just 7.5 to Silvaโ€™s 10.2 and owned by just 2.4%, Milner could prove to be a huge differential over the next few weeks then, and considering Cityโ€™s goal scoring form, he looks like an excellent source of fantasy points.

Somen Tchoyi

After a poor start to the season, Roy Hodgsonโ€™s West Brom side have looked much improved in recent games and after two solid wins on the trot, they will be full of confidence going into their home tie against Liverpool.

Before last week Hodgson looked settled on a Peter Odemwingie and Shane Long front line, but with a knee injury set to keep Long out for 6 weeks, he will almost certainly draft in a ready-made replacement rather than try to change their formation. Somen Tchoyi is the obvious choice to replace him up front having already played there in pre-season, and priced at just 5.1 in the FPL game and classed as a midfielder, Tchoyi looks great value.

In many ways, Tchoyi is the definition of a differential. Heโ€™s cheap, has low ownership and as a midfielder playing out of position, he should provide excellent value for money over the short to medium term. Four home ties in next six, including games against the struggling Bolton and Wigan should more than make up for a tricky trip to Arsenal next week, so if youโ€™re looking for a cheap fifth midfielder then Tchoyi looks as good an option as any right now.

Hugo Rodallega

If you take a look at the current league standings then youโ€™d be forgiven for dismissing Wigan as a source of Fantasy points; they sit joint bottom of the league after six defeats on the trot, and have managed just six goals all season. Thankfully thereโ€™s more to it than that; the Latics have looked much improved in recent weeks, and will consider themselves very unlucky not to have picked up a result against Bolton or Newcastle.

Home ties against Fulham and Blackburn as well as a trip to Wolves in their next three should give then plenty of chances to pick up goals, and with the return to fitness of Hugo Rodallega theyโ€™ve finally got someone who can put the ball in the net.

With 11 attempts on target against Newcastle (thatโ€™s more than Man United, Chelsea, Tottenham or Arsenal last week) it seems incredible that they didnโ€™t get more from that game. Although Rodallega didnโ€™t get on the score sheet last week, he looked sharp in front of goal and gave Wigan an edge that theyโ€™ve been missing in recent games. Priced at just 6.0 and with an ownership of 1.9%, he could prove to a decent differential over the next few games.

No. Rvp is playing Chelsea and may get one goal but as Chelsea will get around three he is unlikely to get bonus. Therefore the best you are likely to get is your 4 points back.

Sort of the opposite of a shot to nothing.

the worthyness of the 4 point transfer depends on the 2 people you bring in for the two you swap out. whos the other swap?
like hearts said rvp for suarez could possibly cancel out (im not saying it will) so it depends on your other transfer

Hi All appreciate some advice. Was thinking this week to do Mata > Walters allowing me to then go Suarez > RVP next week along with Moses > Eagles

Do you think i should go 2 transfers this week and get rid of suarez now as there is uncertainty he may not play?

Or maybe risk and go suarez > aguero for 1 week then RVP next week?

just flipped a coin between Super Mario and Aguero, gone with Aguero but Mario is in provisionally in case of an (unlikely) price rise tonight as I've wildcarded this week.
As a huge Wolves fan, I can't tell you how much I'm looking forward to tomorrow.. (at least i have 3 city players in I guess)
one final thought, captain VDV, Silva, or Aguero? VDV is the obvious choice but I'm chasing a 60+ point gap at the top of my league..

    Priorities right?
    Vorm
    Enrique/Kompany/S.Taylor/Bosingwa
    N.Dyer/Silva/VDV(C)
    Rooney/Adebayor/RVP

Want to get Shawcross or Wilkinson, but IMO -4 is not worth it.

    Besides, isn't Stoke-Newcastle the best bet for a 0-0 we've seen I'm a while?

Is this a mad 4pt hit:

    Suarez to Adebayor

Ade is more likely to run riot tomorrow than Suarez - it is a risky but an aggressive change! I would do it! Bring Torres in if you are worried about over exposure to Tots!

Hi sorry I lost this on an earlier post,

I took a -4 point hit a couple of days ago and I'm now considering playing my wildcard, would the -4 still be deducted if I were to play the wildcard now?

It's wrong. Your 4pt hit would definitely be erased if you hit the wildcard button in the same GW

100% it will be restored. If you play your WC in a GW, all hits taken in that GW are cancelled, regardless of the order of events. As long as the WC is played in the same GW the hit is taken in.

Thats a tough one....personally I think the whole wagon rushing regarding VDV is making everyone twitchy if they haven't got him. Your team is fine as it is but the only person I would take a hit for is VDV. So it depends how your team is doing....chasing the leaders or at the top?

I'm not at the top, but leaders' teams are not good for the long haul and they've played their WCs. The problem I have is taking the point hit for VDV to replace players as capable as VDV.

    Team for this week:

    Ruddy (Given)
    Saylor Enrique Brown
    VDV Silva Sinclair Moses
    Adebayor RVP Suarez

    Subs = Bosingwa, Olsson, Jarvis

    1) Do you agree with line-up and subs?
    2) Is it worth a 4 pointer to do Jarvis > Walters or Suarez > Super Mario?
    3) Ade or VDV for caps?

Thanks in advance my fellow esteemed managers.

        ๐Ÿ˜† I am a glutton for punishment.

I really couldn't care at this stage if his value dropped to zero. He's my Kolarov from last season, like the team mascot. I will play him in every plum fixture hoping that decent haul comes... Well until I WC after GW11 that is ๐Ÿ˜‰

      Good team mate!

      1. Yes it's fine as it is.
      2. Not a good idea personally although out of those two options I would go with Walters, Mario is too much of a rotation risk for me.

Seems like my lineup is good and VDV is the logical captain choice.

The only problem with the Jarvis > Walters hit is that I would then have to bench one of my front 8, most likely Moses and believe it or not I want to play him this week.

Super Mario, Adebayor or Torres in for Suarez? Torres would take a 4 point hit, the other two wouldn't although I don;t really have Chelsea attacking coverage and I have Silva & VDV in terms of City/Spurs attacking coverage

      Nasri(C) is ballsy.

I remember I captained him last year when Fabs and RVP were out and Arsenal had a plum game. He was a differential at that stage and went on to score two goals.

I think it was the same match where he scored that great goal where he played a 1/2 and rounded 2 or 3 players including the keeper. Was a great goal which I'm sure some Gooners fans remember with fondness(hatred).
