The concept of a player being fixture proof in Fantasy football is a much discussed topic around these parts. Wayne Rooney put forward a strong case a few gameweeks back, defying United’s tricky opening to the season with a points tally that left all but Sergio Aguero in his wake. Today, Robin Van Persie perhaps presented even stronger evidence that, when a player has talent and form, no opposition can stand in their way.

Van Persie is certainly a force of nature right now. Seven goals in his last three games have propelled him to the top of every Fantasy manager’s most wanted list. The Dutchman, along with Rooney and Aguero, have all enjoyed devastating spells of form this season. Any Fantasy manager who has failed to catch at least one of them, surely finds themselves floundering.

Ironically, it’s Wayne Rooney who has been hugely overshadowed by Van Persie’s recent returns. Today at Goodison, Rooney dropped alarmingly deep, as Alex Ferguson charged Danny Welback and Javier Hernandez to push on. In Fantasy terms, certainly as far as our own ICT Index is concerned, Rooney suffered his least effective 90 minutes of the season – the numbers are there – our Members can see for themselves.

Van Persie meanwhile, made a mockery of the fixture list which told us that a trip to Chelsea would pose him problems; that perhaps he couldn’t maintain his recent form at Stamford Bridge. Friday night’s decision to go with Van Persie over Sergio Aguero in the Scout Picks wasn’t taken lightly. We suspected that the Chelsea defence would be unable to keep the Dutchman at bay. Nobody could have predicted the havoc he would cause, the delicious end product he would deliver.

In three games, Van Persie has returned 36 Fantasy Premier League points – a tally that will surely increase with bonus points on Monday and perhaps the award of an assist for Theo Walcott’s goal. In contrast, Rooney has produced 5 points over the same three gameweeks. When you throw in the captaincy, that’s a big swing and painful reading for those who held Rooney with faith that his undoubted talent and early season form would see him through.

Conveniently, then, that takes us full circle. While Van Persie has done so much today to prove the theory that, with class and form, the opposition is irrelevant, Rooney’s recent returns present strong evidence of the contrary. The matches against Liverpool, City and Everton looked tough for Rooney- five points is certainly proof of that. Another twist in what is rapidly becoming a fascinating Fantasy season.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

does anyone know how the PPI is rated eg. how many points for shot on target, shots missed, lose possesion etc. Is there actually a table that states what they are?

Well its because AVB forces the players to press further up on the pitch and the full backs are often left one on one and its difficult. The times when Essien and Mikel were cover are far away. They didn't become shit over night, the system changed

theres not many this year because clean sheets are so rare for some reason. I think Howard is a decent option for the next few especially, everton have been improving a lot lately. he also has a dgw coming up at some point. i wouldn't personally get him, as i dont like to spend too much on keepers, but i did have a look at him.

Very hard to know. All three are good players. Liverpools fixtures get tough after next week so probably Suarez. But Liverpool are at home to Swansea next week so he could do well in that match. Still Suarez to RVP seems a good move for the long term.

You look pretty well set for the next few games I think, just Moses & Petrov bringin the side down, -Enrique maybe benched for the tough fixtures coming up. I'm thinking of Moses-Walters, he goes up tonight tho, bit annoying. Might do Suarez to Bendtner GW12. Might not. You'll have greater need for your wc at a later stage very possibly imo.

Need people who know what they are talking about to look over this planned move.

    Team at mo is

    Given vorm
    Bos komp enrique simp barnett
    Silva vdv ramsey walters dyer
    Roo suarez ade

1.1 mil in the back pocket

Plan is suarez ---> rvp. Financed by: 4 point hit +

Bos --> j evens (leaves no money in bank and would have to be done tonite)
    Ramsey --> 4.9 mil mid.

What are your thoughts? Is rvp worth it? Or just roo to rvp?

any transfer with a hit as part of it has to be massively justifiable and Suarez has Swansea at home next and rooney has a big 6 weeks coming up, not a good time to sub him but i appreciate what your trying to do here, and you rteam would feature a hefty amount of big hitters if you got RVP in

consider - walters is aviable option to play regular, so if you downgrade ramsey you may as well go all the way down to Ferguson, chuck him at the back of your bench and use the money to improve on your defender choice - that wouldm give you 5.4 right?

On a much happier note, I just saw that I broke into the top 100K for the first time in my 3 years.

      Thanks FFS

    Hi
Does anyone have Kompany in their team selection
he is currently showing up with a score of -1 after his sending off but he was sent off in the 73rd minute
so he should have had 6 points at that time, then -3 for the sending off, which should leave him with a total score of +3 as the goal was scored by hunt in the 75th minute.,but its showing of -1

rules say that a red-carded player continues to have goals scored against his team count against him

I've moved up in overall rank but isn't it all about climbing your mini leagues?

I'm not actually that bothered about beating strangers, but winning my mini leagues is where it matters! 🙂

both are important to me. i do want to win my minileagues, but for myself ive got a fairly decent history to live up to and ill feel ive done badly if i dont get a decent rank come gwk 38 (which is a challenge given my slightly ropey start!)

will it make you more than 4 points more than suarez at home to swansea (potential captain shout) and bosingwa away to blackburn?

Think I heard the commentator say that RVP has more league goals than Messi in the calendar year. Amazing stat if that's true.

Seriously considering avoiding ManC forwards for a while, the rotation policy basically rules out them as definite starters & as a captaincy option. I like my forwards to be both ideally.
