Playing three expensive strikers has been a popular strategy for many Fantasy managers this season, but being forced to look at Victor Moses’ name in their squads week after week has forced many to reassess.

The incredible form of Robin Van Persie has made the Dutchman almost undroppable, but Sergio Aguero, Wayne Rooney and Luis Suarez are all stuttering in terms of potential going forwards. Playing with two budget strikers opens up the potential for a big midfield of consistent performers, especially when you consider the recent form of budget options such as Demba Ba.

With this in mind we’re focusing on strikers this week and specifically, those who can bring you the greatest value over the coming weeks. Our first two options are particularly interesting as they effectively come as a pair- Blackburn and Bolton’s fixtures rotate very well over the coming weeks meaning you can choose to play one of the two each week and be guaranteed a decent fixture.

Yakubu
Steve Kean has taken a lot of stick in recent weeks, but you can’t argue that Blackburn haven’t been fun to watch. They’ve scored three or more times on five separate occasions this term including four against Newcastle (in the Carling Cup) and Arsenal, and this weekend’s match against Chelsea offers the potential of another high scoring game.

Despite their terrible defensive record, there is still plenty of value available amongst the attacking options. Junior Hoilett is a viable alternative, but Yakubu –owned by a mere 0.5% of Fantasy managers- offers the greatest goal threat and is 0.5 cheaper at just 5.5. With penalty duties apparently falling to the Nigerian after scoring from the spot in the Carling Cup last week, Yakubu presents an excellent differential option over the coming weeks.

David Ngog
The summer signing from Liverpool has started Bolton’s last four league games, ousting even Kevin Davies from the first XI when Owen Coyle has preferred a lone striker system. Ngog has only scored once but has managed more attempts on goal over the last four gameweeks than the likes of Sergio Aguero. In terms of creating goalscoring chances, he’s third-top forward since gameweek seven, behind Bobby Zamora and Luis Suarez – clearly, there’s plenty potential to pick up the points.

As with Blackburn, Bolton have been terrible at the back but show enough promise going forwards to make their attacking options worthy of consideration. Priced at 5.4, Ngog looks secure for gametime right now, whether in a 4-2-3-1 or 4-4-2 and with a favourable run of fixtures that includes (STO wba EVE tot ALV), the 0.3% owned Trotters forward may prove to be a handy differential over the next few matches.

Andy Carroll
Writing about Andy Carroll as a differential feels odd. Starting the season at 10.0, his price has plummeted to 9.2 after a slow start to the new campaign and as a result, he now sits at just 2.1% Fantasy ownership.

Playing in the shadow of Luis Suarez hardly helps either but over the last four gameweeks, the £35m man is starting to hint at his possible Fantasy potential. Carroll has scored in each of his last two starts and has picked up the maximum bonus points both times, too, outscoring Suarez from gameweek 7-10 by a single point despite far less game time (191 min versus 350 min).

With Suarez owned by 34.7% of Fantasy managers in comparison, the level to which Carroll has been overlooked is particularly significant. Granted, he’s hardly been Liverpool’s most impressive performer but Carroll recently admitted he’s been building up his fitness in training and the hours of hard work finally seem as though they are paying off.

This weekend’s home game with Swansea offers him a chance to continue his recent good form and although Liverpool than square up to Chelsea and Man City, games against QPR, Wigan and Blackburn hint at a prosperous December.

Evening lads, time for an RMT?

    Given (Ruddy)

Enrique - BAE - Simpson (Naylor, De Laet)

Walters - Silva - VDV (vc) - Ramsey (Ferguson)

    Torres - RVP (c) - Suarez

Looking alright? Sorting out De Laet & Ferguson during int break even though i've already used wildcard.

Really want to get rid of Given for de Gea as i feel Villa may conceed heavier than Utd, hold off for this week?

    Comments greatly appreciated 🙂

Wow it's been a while since I last talked to you on here.

I still don't like Torres that much, he hasn't shown that much, but then i think he is worth the risk due to the fact you have RVP. You should at some point get a haul of points from ur front 3 for sure.

You need to sort out Laet and Ferg... but you are looking alright for this week dude! Don't think BAE will get a clean sheet tho, fulham had a gd time mid week and probably going to bring some confidence into the game.

Dont see the need to change Given for now... would hold off another week and change it up when you can. But they have a good chance to keep a cleany this week.

Hiya man! haha didnt know you were on i just came on and posted this, thanks for the comments 🙂

Haha well its make or break week for Torres really mate, if he doesn't do anything against Blackburn he never will. Expecting big things then from my front three this weekend.

Well i'll be doing Given to de Gea at some point then, but then leaves nothing in the bank, with a straight swap from de laet to wilkinson, leaving me lumbered with Ferguson unless i downgrade Torres, which i may do if he doesn't pull out the goods, even if he gets an assist, i want goals from the lad! haha.

Hmm i've good high hopes for Tottenham back four, i have to say i think BAE will keep a cleanie but just difference of opinion. (Hey! Spelling 'JUST' correctly! put the friggin flag up!)

Hmm yeah i may hold off de Gea then, although i really really want him, wonder if it'll get the better of me before deadline haha.

How you looking matey? confident for the GW before being shrugged by an int. break, yet again! 🙂

Hopefully will gain some points on your rivals this week!

De Gea is a great shout tbh, i'm also thinking about getting him in during my WC, but then i might see just depends on money ha! You're gonna have to help me with my changes haha 😉 You need something from Torres, otherwise he is gonna have one of those typical seasons again where you have him for ages but he doesnt get you anything, and has one crazy week at some point. Could always downgrade him a little just to get Ferg up to someone who is actually playing.

Against Fulham away is always a bit of a doubt, I think fulham could squeeze one out of spurs and then spurs score 3 or so!

The Int. break is gonna be boring but I'm gonna have my WC to decide upon so it isnt too bad haha!

          Atm looking like:
          Given (Ruddy)
          Richards Enrique Simpson (Naylor Brown)
          Silva Nani Ramsey VDV (Dyer)
          Agbonlahor Rooney(c) Adebayor

Yep, hopefully should move up a couple of places as many dont even have VDV or RVP, but mght do now, either way i should do better than them.

Yeah de Gea is gonna be a stand out keeper this season, so would be a great player to have once you WC if you do get him, i for one will be getting him over the break.

Yep, totally agree with Torres, it goes back to your "players dont give a shit about you" statement doesn't it ha! its so true. Bottom line is if he doesn't grab at least a goal and an assist tomoz, im getting rid, you watch, he'll do just that so i bloody keep him ha!

Yeah, i'll expect Fulham to score then, then i wont be as disappointed, great if they keep a cleanie as a bonus.

Yeah WC'ing over int. break will fill a lot of minutes and thinking, so wont be too bad for you and some others that are.

Liking that team ahead of the weekend man, we have similar mid line up barring dyer, agbonlagoalwhore could grab two i reckon tomoz, maybe even 3, i'd be persuaded to cap him but your doing the riht thing capping Rooney i feel. Ade, been out of touch of late but will pounce back just as anyone starts to doubt him.

Both looking smooth again then, we'll leave the points prediction forever now, out of the question haha! 🙂

Who would you have with de Gea as cover for him then? Cause thats what i would be confused on.

Ha he is gonna, by the sounds of it, disappoint you in the way that you will have to keep him around, but then fail again the next couple of weeks after!
BAE always has a good chance in his attacking sense, could even score a goal for you at the end of that day!

God I'm hoping he grabs me some point, thinking about getting rid of him tbh when it comes to the WC but it just depends how it shapes up this weekend and how it shapes up money wise for my 3rd striker. Ade is always someone im thinking needs to be changed if he does nothing again this week!

I want a good week this week for once :(. Who do you reckon will rake the points in? Think RVP will be up for 2 goals again this week!

Hmmm not too sure for de Gea cover, with such an expensive keeper, i would feel i'd make him a rock stone player for whatever game with rotation thrown out the window to swap him with, but, i feel maybe Foster OR Kenny wouldn't be a bad shout, i dunno really though, its a tough one that.

Yeah, i could always go with the idea of shipping out Torres regardless after this week, get the best from him then move on and not drag his bad point haulage around all the time.

Yeah BAE could score, had good chances with shots and assists against QPR last week out.

Even with Rooney playing deep i think he could shock a few who got rid and produce many assists or goals themselves, looking forward to tomoz though, sparks could fly between him and cattermole, both are no angels, cattermole will be the bad benefactor from the two though.

Nice choice with VDV as captain last week though, knew i should of! would of sat on 74 points then! or something in the 70's.

Personally mate i reckon RVP will bag around 3 or 4 tomoz, i know that's unlikely but the guy is just on fire, and they got killed by a 2nd tate liverpool last week also, i just feel WBA are in for a tanning myself, he should do great, at least i am hoping he will 🙂

Lucky I have the time to see who he rotates well withh, and hope they are proper cheap!!

Depends with the Torres thing, if there is clearly a player cheaper and in better form and fixtures, then the money is spent better elsewhere,

I'm hoping they get a proper shock and rooney scores a few to spite some people who transferred them out! As long as Rooney keeps his head, he could score and assist a few any day.

Oh man, VDV saved my ass last week, i only got like 42 points or so, was a shocker, could have done so much better! I hope for ur sake that RVP gets some gd points so you can grab some points back!

Yeah, it needs a bit of time just to study who de Gea would change over with, should easy come across someone with a bit of research into fixtures etc.

Yeah its exactly that aint it, money is better spent elsewhere, maybe even ade, leaving me to upgrade ferguson and then some, see how that shapes up.

Haha yeah, Rooney ahs ecome disciplined since montenegro, think he's already amtured, and that in turn pours into transformed goals at the end of the day.

Haha i think VDV saved a lot of peoples asses last week, its so frustrating when we know we could have done better aint it. i know yeah, RVP has to serve me well lol, just wish i'd captained him last week, but hey, who would of seen that coming, really! ha 🙂

Ye i hope he rotates with someone thats alright and is like 4mill... considering the price of de Gea atm.

Exactly mate, it isn't bad having 3 expensive strikers up front, but it's only good when they are all doing well lets face it... and you could downgrade him to someone who is doing just as well and spend the money somewhere you aren't getting points where everyone else is!

Oh dear, your typing is starting to go mate... means you must be tired. for example 'ahs' and 'amtured' im liking these ones. Either way i think im gonna keep Rooney around for his fixtures just hope he gets better, might try to work in RVP too if i can!

Bloody mental RVP... its crazy isnt it! Would be funny if he stops dead in the water now though after all this hype. ha

Jesus!! didnt see that! lol, my keyboard is the definition of wank mate, im convinced it is, i type so fast, it just cant keep up haha! But yeah, been hittin the gym more lately and think tiredness is creeping up on me, arms and legs are like dead weights, hitting 12k runs now though so im pleased with that, might even enter the Wilmslow run haha!

Yep, money has to become more widespread with points potential in areas that aren't grabbing as many, will all be good, like always my seasons begin like this, you'd think i'd have learned by now! haha.

Rooney will easy return major point haulage if ya stick with him, im looking to get him back at some point. If you could work RVP in that'd be great, i can see him having a great season all round. haha would be kind of a slap in the face if he dries up though.

Right mate, hitting the sack, i'll see you back here soon, good luck for the weekend and invaluable comments as ever, we'll be in the top 100k in no time 🙂

Seems to be a lot of Evans love around, anybody else not getting it? I know he's cheap and playing for a team that should get a few cleanies given the fixtures, but...

    - No real attacking threat
    - Vidic is the main man at CB, gametime will surely be split with Rio?
    - Smalling's return isn't too far away, adding more CB competition
    - Fit Fabio means he's less likely to be chosen as cover for Evra at LB

IMO Just looks like he will cost a transfer a few GW's down the road. Am I on my own here 🙂

tis true, if players are thinking of transfering say de laet to evans and are fully aware he may only play 1 in 3 matches then im all for it, however, if players are transfering in evans and expecting him to be nailed on united defensive coverage for the foreseeable future then they may be disappointed once utd are back at full strength at the back - get jones if you have the money, get evans if you haven't (and realise he won't play every game)

It's all because of the scout article the other day. He wasn't being talked about before now half the posters seem to want him.

I don't understand the appeal either. He's played a lot of games so far which suggests he might not be as far down the pecking order as expected but even so once players are back from injury in a few weeks time he'll surely get rotated too much. Besides, he's sh*t and who wants to see his name tarnishing their team?

vidic, rio, rafael, fabio, smalling have all suffered short/long term injuries this season meaning evans has played by default as there have not been enough defenders available to play (remember when carrick, berbatov and valencia all played in defence against leeds in the cup about a month ago?)

Exactly. Their defence has been decimated by injuries so far this season. Barring any more it looks like they're getting close to having them all available. Everyone bringing Evans in will soon need to transfer him out.

Jones is tempting alright, great fixtures but i think i'll stick with Ward, Enrique and Richards so i can have two frees next week. Seems the sensible thing to do.

Yup. I was actually planning to downgrade Bosingwa to someone a bit cheaper than Walker but they may have to wait till next week. Enrique > Brown perhaps or McAuley.

    Hey dudes,

Please could I get an opinion on my line-up?
Am I fielding my strongest team?

I used a transfer, so any changes would mean a hit. (I'm not against hits for a good chance of profit)

    I'm fielding:

    Krul (Vorm)
    Enrique, Simpson, Warnock (Bosingwa, NTaylor)
    VDV, SIlva, Ramsey, Murphy (NDyer)
    Ade, Aguero, RVP (c)

    £0.9m in the coffers.

    Thoughts appreciated!

    Richards in for Kompany

    aguero in for Rooney

    Jones in for Bosingwa

    Hernandez in for Rooney

    Ramsey in for Petrov

    Nothing.

    I'll decide at some point

But to do that I need to do something to make some more cash like Rooney to Aguero or Walker/Evans in for Bosingwa.

I kept Rooney. Getting Ramsey in if you have no Arsenal coverage would be advisable.

Do I risk m petrov and captain Torres to keep the faith one last time, OR do I upgrade to Hernandez and Adam Johnson for an 8 point hit...

Or just scrap Torres for aguero for 4pt hit (concerned about lack of man u coverage)
