It’s a rare occurrence for a top-priced keeper to come under the gaze of a Watchlist article but, given his shot-stopping performances so far, David De Gea enters our thoughts.

The young Spaniard has played all but one league match for the champions and despite picking up just three clean sheets, is the joint-top scoring keeper in Fantasy Premier League (FPL) after ten gameweeks. Priced at 6.6, he hardly comes cheap but a closer look at the statistics –in addition to his upcoming fixtures- shows he may just be worth a punt.

United have conceded an average of 19 goal attempts, the joint-worst defence alongside Bolton but thanks to the heroics of their new summer signing, have let in only 12 goals. De Gea has been a pivotal figure in their season to this point, making a total of 49 saves, the most of any keeper in the FPL.

Compare this to similarly-priced stoppers such as Joe Hart (25 saves) and Petr Cech (10 saves) and his appeal amongst the top bracket keepers is obvious. Indeed, De Gea’s total of Fantasy 45 points is bettered only by two defensive players in the game; Newcastle’s Ryan and Steve Taylor, with 47 and 46 respectively. With clean sheets so hard to come by across the board, his save points are steadily racking up the extra points- last week’s 8 saves and clean sheet at Everton a case in point. De Gea also earned bonus from that game.

For those who like to double up in defence, the possibility of pairing the Spaniard with Jonny Evans, in the short-term at least, is an intriguing one. Evans has started eight of United’s ten fixtures and with Sir Alex Ferguson recently admitting that Rio Ferdinand is no longer a first-choice option at the back, a run of games for the Irishman –priced at 4.5- could be conceivable. An Evans-De Gea pairing would currently set you back 11.1- less than say, Shay Given (5.0) and Jose Bosingwa (6.3) – a very popular combination.

With a favourable run of fixtures for the foreseeable future (SUN, swa, NEW, avl, WOL, qpr) and the return of Nemanja Vidic to shore up the United back-line, De Gea looks set to rack up the points in the next few gameweeks to come, regardless of whether clean sheets come his way.

My money's on Johnson over Milner or Nasri, who both got a full match at Villarreal. Arsenal fans know how sketchy this cat's (Nasri's) hammy can be. I can see Adam getting a goal or two, Milner is usually inserted against a problem that needs bullying. Not sure who will be minding SWP, but it won't be Milner that's for sure.

That was silly on both parties, the opposing team looked like petty b*&ches pointing it out emphatically. I think the rule needs clarifying as to goal celebrations...the card was a rape of the spirit of the rule. A side of me says he deserved it just for how bitter he looked taking it off, like dennis rodman almost.

Why wouldn't you go with Welbeck??? He's way more dynamic, and with each passing week, he's less and less of a rotation risk, he adds a position every other week. And SAF also lets him see a lot of the ball, which means he values what he can do. Which means when injuries subside Chich will be dropped, like the only two skills he has are poaching and passing backwards...this will allow you to drop Tiote the yellow card master. Ok...think back 4 weeks ago wen people were talking that "Welbeck is a one week transfer" bu!!shit, how many of those weeks was he dropped???

He can eat anywhere on the pitch, ask yourself the same about Hernandez? I ate well off Chich last season, but this is a different season...this ain't his time.

Mexico only have one match against Serbia a week today. Gives Hernandez over a week to recover for the Swansea game.

Question about Rooney, do you think he'll be involved in both/either of the England games next week. A fresh Rooney playing upfront against Swansea looks appealing! Just weighing up whether to take Rooney out this week or stick with him.

    Current team:

    Given, (Vorm)
Bosingwa, Simpson, Jose Enrique, (Ward), (Kompany)
Van der Vaart, Silva (MPetrov), (Dyer), Walters, Silva
Aguero (VC), Sturridge, Van Persie (C)

Thinking of these options for this GW:

    A) Kompany > J Evans (Brought Kompany in at current price so would avoid tonights drop and can always bring back in cheaper next week for Simpson as Newcastles fixtures worsen)

    B) Kompany > J Evans; Petrov/Dyer > Ramsey (4pt hit)

    C) Sit tight and save the transfer for next GW

Thinkin of next week doing ShawX Wes Brown and Aguero out for Jones Evans and Hernandez to get plenty of cover for Uniteds excellent fixtures. Anyone disagree with an 8 point hit to fix up my woeful defence ?

Bad decision IMO. Brown and Shawcross have fixtures that should lead to clean sheets and Jones and Evans aren't nailed on in a Utd defence that's full of holes. Aguero will outscore Hernandez over any fixtures even if Hernandez was nailed on, which he isn't.

Yeah, that was my considered reasoning - I've made the wrong choice pretty much every week with Simpson, once more won't hurt, but if I bench Moses and he scores I don't know if I could live with myself 🙂

    Given (Vorm)
    Jones Simpson Enrique Walker (Brown)
    Silva Ramsey VDV (Moses) (Dyer)
    RVP Suarez Adebayor

How does my team look for this week, am I right to have Moses (1st sub), Dyer (2nd) and Brown (3rd)?

I'm going for Moses (see above), but I'm not sure Silva will play anyway - Neil Warnock is the type of manager to tell his players to kick Silva in the back, and Barton will do so with relish.

    Given, Ruddy
    Kompany, Bosingwa, Wilkinson, Simpson, Boyata
    Mata, Silva, vDV, Moses, Dyer
    Sturridge, Suarez, RvP

1 FT, 0.1 in the bank. Do i need to use my transfer?

I was thinking of keeping my team as it is and then next week....
    Mata > Drenthe
    Suarez > Anyone

Alternatively i can keep Mata and do....
    Dyer > Drenthe
    Suarez > Bendtner

    What do you reckon?
